Palm Pre Owners Step This Way

I think at some point they will have an on screen keyboard. Why?

1) Because there are actually people that want it.

2) The keyboard on the Pre is only meant to be used in portrait. so if you want to surf the internet or say use a spreadsheet in landscape, you have to keep reorienting the device when you want to enter text.

3) A virtual Keyboard it totally reconfigurable.

I think its good to have the option.

PS: Its a shame Palm didn't allow the keyboard to swing down so it would be under the screen for landscape usage. People would have lost their minds. :D

I hear they are offering different style phones using the new OS with other service providers. AT&T gets one that has the keyboard always exposed, while Verizon is supposed to get a landscape slider style keyboard.

ANYBODY try the homebrew joint yet... Also does it void your warranty Ie Jailbreak.. Im kinda on the fence bout installing it!

If you irreparably damage your phone via rooting it- best to damage it- preferably via shortcircuit and get it replaced

You can't install homebrew apps via email after the 1.0.4 update - that includes pimpmysounds. There is an alternate method available here http://www.precentral.net/how-install-homebrew-apps-without-rooting-post-104-update

WebOS is linux based. People have LAMP running on it  though i dont know why the fuck you'd want to do that

I see you waisted no time pimping out your Pre Mak. That wallpaper is fire!!!
man i went through that wallpaper site - i got tons of dope walls

have you checked out those skins? I need to order one and I need a case but im not sure what to get since I have the touchstone

I just checked out that site & it does have a shit load of wallpaper. The Pre section alone has over 300 pages with wallpaper on it. I'm not even 1/3 of the way through that yet and already picked out 7 really nice wallpapers to use. I skipped a lot of potentials too that I may go back & save just for the hell of it.

Nah I haven't checked out the skins. I'm happy with my hardshell case & don't see myself buying the touchstone anytime soon.

I got a ghost armor but I didn't do a great job putting it on it look good and its clear but the edges started to peel back from putting in and out of the palm leather case that i brought.

Id really like to see an on-screen keyboard. I hate to slide out the keyboard for a simple text reply or something like that. Also they need Voice dialing.

yeah i agree i am use to things like that. well i dont use voice dialing but the on screen keyboard is big...

If the pre had a way to record video there is a good chance i might have tried it. Another issue was that I wish i could easily use some kind of external media to keep files on so that I could have a library of fight vids, or porn, and just plug in the media to watch them when I want.

The idea about letting the keyboard swing below is a great one.

I might go to the sprint store and check out the pre to see if I like how it feels.

Supposedly a camcorder is coming in a future update.

I want to try one of those skinz. When its done right you can't tell its on there. I saw a thread where people were talkin about droppin/scratchin/smashin their phones  :smh:
Oh wow. I'll leave it to them to test out the durability of the skins all they want.

i love it so far..but some minor issues...phone shuts off for no reason sometimes..battery life is horrible...and the agps does not work if you have no signal...also the lack of palm store apps...but other then that its pretty cool...most of these can be solved via programming...but one positive thing is the home brew apps are coming out like crazy..very easy to program for the phone...precentral.net is the shit also for things about the pre

Is it shutting off completely or just going into power save mode? I set mine up to do that after 3 minutes but by default it does so after a minute.

I've yet to try loading any of the apps in an area where I have no signal but then again I live in NYC so it'll be hard for me to find those kind of areas at the moment.

Battery life gets MUCH better with use. Just remember that it ships with all functions on. Turn down the brightness, Turn off gps, and turn of wireless if you are not using it and you will be fine.

As far as the shutting off, reseat your battery and be cautious about sliding your slider too hard. If you look at how your batter sits on the connector, any heavy jolt will temp cause the Pre to shut off. Not a huge issue when you understand why its happening.

Apparently we're not the only board that loves having Iphone Vs Pre competition. Check out these glory stories of people & their triumphant moments against Iphone users lol
http://www.everythingpre.com/forum/palm-pre/positive-pre-moment-21676.html

There is no iPhone vs Pre competition going on here on BGOL. There are however threads for sharing positive useful info about each of the devices. Its a good way to get assistance or learn about other platforms. I frown on the vs shit. Too many times all it comes down to is irrational hate.

I frown on it too hence why I call it a "competition". Fans of each device will always try to downlplay any device that may be better than what they have to maintain the perception of owning the best. I will admit though that sometimes the ridiculous comments that are made make me chuckle.

Great minds think alike.

Had it since launch. Really wish we didn't have to wait for the ability to change notification sounds. As a 650/700p/centro owner, I have faith that webos will be a beast in a few months.

I'm using videora ipod converter to watch movies on it. Anybody got something with a better interface?

I played wit the pre and i jus didnt like the buttons they were to sticky and to lil is that a prob for u or u jus gets used to it been thinkin bout gettin one

It looks like there is more support behind the webOS than I thought. The fact that they are putting this out makes me more confident actually. I think I might stop by a sprint store and check one out.
