Two Wisconsin gas stations are suing a competitor for its low fuel prices

While most people are focused on the escalating price at the pump, two gas stations in Wisconsin are suing a competitor that they say is selling gas too cheap.

A Shell and BP gas station in Waukesha, Wis., have filed suit against a local grocery chain, Woodman’s, saying the company has illegally outpriced them, and violated the state’s Unfair Sales Act, which prohibits companies from selling goods below cost.

They’re seeking damages of $80,000 each.

As of Monday morning, Google Maps shows Woodman’s selling gas at $3.60 per gallon, while the Shell and BP locations are charging $3.86 and $3.80 per gallon, respectively.

Woodman’s says it is allowed to sell prices at that rate, due to an exemption from the Unfair Sales Act, requiring the company to notify the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection of the price drop, which allows them to match a competitor’s prices.

That competitor would be Costco, which is located about 6.5 miles from the grocer.

Nationwide, the average gallon of gas is selling for $4.25, according to AAA on Monday. Wisconsin’s average is $3.91, and Waukesha County averages $3.88.

On average, the national price per gallon has jumped roughly 75 cents in the past month, largely in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent disruption of the global oil market. While it has eased up some in recent days, many experts say they still expect gas to top $5 per gallon before the conflict is over—and $6 has also been suggested as a real possibility.

The MAGA trucker convoy turned into a complete clusterfuck because of course it did. Now they accuse each other of gaslighting, being Nazis, libtards, authoritarian Gestapo, undercover FBI agents, etc. Dumbfucks gonna dumbfuck.

Kevin McCarthy Says Madison Cawthorn Admitted He Exaggerated Claims About Cocaine and Orgies: He ‘Lost My Trust’

kevin-mccarthy.jpg

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Wednesday that Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) has lost his trust and needs to “turn himself around” after meeting with the freshman member of Congress over his claims about being invited to “orgies” and witnessing leaders doing cocaine “right in front” of him.

McCarthy also reportedly said that Cawthorn admitted he exaggerated his claims about sex and drugs in Washington D.C.

“There’s a lot of different things that can happen. But I just told him he’s lost my trust. He’s going to have to earn it back,” McCarthy told reporters, according to Politico’s Olivia Beavers. “I mean, he’s got a lot of members very upset.”

A Washington state police officer was stabbed to death while on vacation in Las Vegas during an altercation with two men after the cop 'aggressively' rubbed one of the men's dogs.
Tyler Steffins, 33, of Edmonds, was visiting Sin City when he was fatally stabbed by Freddy Allen on a pedestrian bridge along the famous Las Vegas Strip at around 9:40 pm on Saturday, police said.
Allen, 58, was free despite two stabbing arrests in past year, according to the Seattle Times.
Las Vegas police said Steffins and another man, Dean Cattorini, got into an altercation 'over an interaction with (Cattorini's) dog the night before' the fatal stabbing.
The two men crossed paths again on Saturday at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, when Allen pulled a blade on Steffins and stabbed him as he argued with Cattorini over petting his dog, police said.
Edmonds, a married father of two and a former Marine, was rushed to a local hospital but died from his wound.

According to the police report, the dogs belonged to Allen's friend Dean Cattorini, who told cops that Steffins approached them the day before the stabbing and 'grabbed his dogs (sic) face aggressively and it upset Dean.'
The next day, Cattorini said Steffins approached him and his dogs on the pedestrian bridge again while Allen stood nearby, police said.
'Dean asked Tyler not to be rough with them,' according to the police report.
Steffins once again started petting the dogs in an aggressive manner, Dean told cops, prompting Steffins and Cattorini to begin arguing, with Steffins telling Cattorini to 'get a job.'

Allen stood nearby with his hands behind his back before suddenly stabbing Steffins, police said.
Responding officers from the Las Vegas Police Department arrived on scene and discovered Allen nearby holding a knife, according to the Seattle Times.
He was apprehended after a brief chase, police said, and was arrested and charged with murder with a deadly weapon.
Allen had been arrested twice in the past year on the Las Vegas Strip for committing acts of violence with a knife, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
In November, Allen stabbed a man in an alley, with the victim in that incident receiving staples to his head, 16 stitches to his right arm as well as five stitches to his left arm.

In that case, Allen pleaded guilty to attempted battery with substantial bodily harm, a gross misdemeanor, and was sentenced in February to 90 days in jail with 72 days credit for time served, according to the Review-Journal.
Steffins began working with the Edmonds police force in August 2018. The town is located about 20 miles north of Seattle.
He is survived by a wife and two young children.
'This is a tragic loss for our agency when our staff and the entire region is already in a state of mourning for other fallen officers,' Edmonds Police Chief Michelle Bennett said in a press release regarding Steffin's stabbing death.
'While we grieve with heavy hearts, our peer support program members are actively engaging with our staff. Tyler was a valued member of our police family whose infectious smile and contagious laugh endeared him to his peers.'
'We will miss him terribly but cherish the times we had with him. We remain committed to providing quality service to our community even during the most trying of times.'

Springfield police officer placed on leave after 'racist' social media posts discovered
Staff report

Ken Scarlette

A Springfield police officer has been placed on unpaid leave after allegedly posting "racist" social media posts.
“The Springfield Police Department was made aware of comments reportedly posted to social media by an officer using a personal profile," Police Chief Ken Scarlette said in a statement Friday afternoon. "Upon receiving this information, the Department immediately launched an internal investigation."

Authorities did not identify the officer nor divulge specifics of the comments or how they were discovered but said the officer has been placed on unpaid administrative leave and his police powers removed.
Scarlette's statement went on to say the department "does not condone the use of racist comments by any of our officers, at any time. Statements like this erode civilian trust and confidence in our department and are not tolerated. The views allegedly expressed by the officer do not align with our oath, or the mission and philosophy of the Springfield Police Department and in no way reflect the views of the over 200 officers within our department."
A statement from the Police Benevolent & Protective Association Unit 5 said the union "disavows and condemns bigotry and bias against any group of people. Further, the PBPA wants to be an active partner in healing the rifts that exist between law enforcement and the people we serve, and we pledge to work with members of our community to realize those goals."

Gosar says his appearance at white nationalist conference was due to ‘miscommunication’ from his staff

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) said that he wasn’t supposed to appear via video at a conference organized by a white nationalist figure, blaming the occurrence on a miscommunication from his staff.
Gosar told Politico in an interview that he was not supposed to go to far-right organizer Nick Fuentes’s America First Political Action Conference in March.
“It wasn’t supposed to go to Nick’s group,” Gosar said. At the time, he appeared at the conference in a prerecorded video.
He told Politico that it was a “welcome video” that was supposed to be used by multiple organizations.
“We’re kind of short-handed,” Gosar said. “And there was miscommunication.”
Gosar and conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) faced backlash within their own party after attending the conference. Greene went in person to the Orlando, Fla., event. At the time, she defended her participation, stating that she did not know Fuentes’s views.
Gosar told the outlet the prerecorded video was meant to go to groups such as Conservative Political Action Conference.
“The young people that were being misled by somebody — we should be trying to mentor, trying to change them. I’ve given up … on dealing with Nick. Nick’s got a problem with his mouth,” Gosar said, according to Politico.
After the appearance, several leaders in the Republican Party condemned Gosar and Greene, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.)
“There’s no place in our party for any of this,” McCarthy said at the time.
McCarthy said he would meet with Gosar, but Gosar told Politico he already explained the miscommunication to McCarthy and didn’t see a need for a meeting.
The Hill has reached out to Gosar’s office for additional comment.
