Osaka withdraws from French Open

What's that's got to do with these CACs sweating Naomi?
Let's not lose focus here.
This is about how the press creates drama and pressure for stories and bylines and how the racist owners of these companies use the press to strike at sistas like Naomi who show support for black men.
At no point should black folk forget that these assholes only want to divide and conquer. Its all they know how to do. They hate us and more than anything, they hate to see us support each other or show any kind of togetherness or harmony.
They want her to fall apart and want the public to turn on her and some of you suckas are so mindwashed that y'all believe any and everything somebody holding a microphone tells you to.

I said I wish Naomi well but cacs won when it comes to Serena. How is anything you posted responsive to that?

Is Serena married to a cac?

Did she turn herself into Sammy Sosa?

Serena didn't win her fight with the cacs, she joined them. Her child is half cac and her husband is a cac aka the people that called her fat, an ape, a tranny etc.

All true with regards to Serena. Serena is great but she obviously has some identity issues.
I'm talking about Naomi.
She's the next gen.
Fuck the press and fuck the french open. What the fuck have those rilfe-dropping frogs ever done for black folk? Those snooty bastards can fuck off, along with the whole press and the mindwashed niggas that co-sign them.
They would just as soon make a story about any of our black asses if given the opportunity.
They just want to create "The Rise And Fall Of Naomi Osaka" and control the narrative because CACs are jealous of her. Here's "another one" kicking the shit out of them in a sport that they thought they dominated. They will take any shots at her they can.

OK, I agree but it isn't just the French but cacs generally. They don't like it when someone "other" dominates something they feel they should.

Remember when Lewis Hamilton started dominating F1?

They were that way with Tiger too until they realized that he was already broken. :smh::smh::smh:

Naomi needs to take some time off and come back only when she is ready. They need her a lot more than she needs them so she has all of the power. I am a fan of tennis and watch but no casual fan is checking for Barty or Sabalenka .

Did Lewis Hamilton throw his 2 cents in yet?

Her career earnings are already crazy and the money will always be there when she is ready. She needs to take a break and get out of the spotlight. I think Serena internalized a lot of what the cacs were saying and it lead to what we see now. :smh: Hopefully Osaka has people around her who can help guide her through this. It was only like a year ago that they were criticizing her for wearing a bikini...:smh:

Nike backs Naomi Osaka after she withdraws from French Open
By Hanna Ziady, CNN Business

Updated 3:48 AM ET, Wed June 2, 2021

London (CNN Business)Nike (NKE) and other major sponsors have come out in support of tennis star Naomi Osaka following her decision to withdraw from the French Open.

The sports apparel giant — who signed a sponsorship deal with Osaka in 2019 — applauded the athlete in a statement on Monday for opening up about her struggle with depression.

"Our thoughts are with Naomi. We support her and recognize her courage in sharing her own mental health experience," Nike said.
Osaka's decision to pull out of the competition came after the tournament, also called Roland Garros, fined her $15,000 for not speaking to the media following her first round match on Sunday.

Citing mental health reasons, the four-time major champion announced on Twitter last Wednesday that she would not participate in any news conferences at the tournament. Announcing her subsequent decision to withdraw, she revealed that she has "suffered long bouts of depression" since winning her first Grand Slam title in 2018.

Naomi Osaka: Serena Williams wants to give world No. 2 a hug; others label her a 'princess'

Roland Garros said in a statement that Osaka had failed to honor her contractual media obligations and was fined under the tournament's Code of Conduct. The statement added that Roland Garros had "tried unsuccessfully to speak with her to check on her well-being" and that she was reminded that "rules should apply equally to all players."

Other sponsors issued statements in support of Osaka, who was born in Japan and grew up in the United States.
"Naomi Osaka's decision reminds us all how important it is to prioritize personal health and well-being," Mastercard (MA) said in a statement. "We support her and admire her courage to address important issues, both on and off the court."

Osaka became the first number one tennis player to join Mastercard's roster of global ambassadors in 2019.

The Naomi Osaka fiasco is a sign that we're nowhere near finished with work on mental health

Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer said that it supports its brand ambassadors "in triumph but also during challenging periods."

"Naomi is going through difficult times and we truly hope to see her back soon. She is a great champion and we are convinced that she will come out of this period stronger, be it professionally or personally," the company said in a statement.

Nissin Foods, a Japanese company known for its instant noodles, also released a message of solidarity.

"We pray for Ms Naomi Osaka's earliest recovery, and wish her continue success," a company spokesperson said in a statement.

Nissan, the Japanese automaker, also threw its weight behind Osaka. "We support the right of our ambassadors to express themselves and stand by her decision," the company said in a statement.
All Nippon Airways, a Tokyo-based airline, said that it, too, would continue to support Osaka "as a sponsor."

Sweetgreen, a US restaurant chain of which Osaka is a brand ambassador and investor, said: "Our partnership with Naomi is rooted in wellness in all its forms. We support her in furthering the conversation around mental health and are proud to have her as part of the sweetgreen team."
French Open sponsors Rolex, Engie and Infosys (INFY) declined to comment.

TENNIS PHENOM NAOMI OSAKA VAULTS PASS SERENA WILLIAMS TO BECOME TOP-EARNING FEMALE ATHLETE

Move over Serena, make room for Naomi Osaka! Osaka has just set an all-time earnings record for a female athlete in a single year according to Forbes.

The young tennis phenom has earned $37.4 million over the past 12 months from prize money and endorsements. That’s $1.4 million more than Williams has earned in the same period.

The previous record was $29.7 million back in 2015 by Maria Sharapova.

The money Osaka has earned has put an end to Williams 4 year streak as the world’s highest-paid female athlete. Williams annual pre-tax income ranged from $18 million to $29 million over that time. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has made nearly $300 million over the course of her career.

“To those outside the tennis world, Osaka is a relatively fresh face with a great back story,” David Carter, a sports business professor at USC’s Marshall School of Business tells Forbes. “Combine that with being youthful and bicultural, two attributes that help her resonate with younger, global audiences, and the result is the emergence of a global sports marketing icon.”

“I’m really interested in seeing a young business grow and adding value to that process,” Osaka told Forbes last year. “I tasked my team with finding brands that align with my personality and my interests.”

Tennis superstars Sharapova, Li Na, Williams and now Osaka are the only women to rank among the 100 top earners in sports since 2012. Every year since Forbes started tracking data, the highest-paid female athlete every year has been a tennis player, with Steffi Graf and Martina Hingis the top earners for most of the 1990s.

Osaka spoke to Forbes about her most recent marketing campaign with Bodyarmor that was just launched last week, “I always look outside tennis to see how other athletes are training and conducting themselves,” she says. “It’s no secret that some of the athletes that I have looked to in shaping my career are non-tennis players. I’m a big basketball fan, and what James Harden has done in the NBA over the last few years has been amazing. He’s definitely one of the most exciting players in the league, so being a part of this spot with him was really fun. I was also lucky enough to shoot this campaign on the same day as Skylar [before the pandemic], so we got to spend some quality time together. She is really down-to-earth, and we got along great.”

No one should have the expectation she have mental toughness at such a young age. Let her protect her mental health. I would say she needs a good team (PR or whatever its called) to be her buffer as well.

She's young. What other young girl her age has to deal with that level of pressure, scrutiny, and stress?

I hope she somewhere chilling by a pool or on a secluded beach clearing her head
If she can’t handle being a professional athlete she needs to fine something to do

I'm proud of this young lady and I support her pulling out of this tournament. A lot of people were calling her weak minded and saying it's her job to do press, her job is to win tournaments. I always wondered why the media wants to talk to someone who doesn't wants to talk to them. Plenty of other athletes love to talk, some people are extremely shy. She just needs to take care of herself first.

everyone forgot this

THATS HIM CHECKING THE MEDIA....BECAUSE THE MEDIA IS TRYING TO UNDERMINE HER PSYCHOLOGICALLY... THATS THE INTERVIEWER.. THATS PRESS...

Venus's father had to step in and say HEY YOUR NOT GOING TO CHIP AWAY AT MY DAUGHTERS CONFIDENCE...

do we know how often this happens to Naomie???? who steps in for her and says HEY CUT THE SHIT!

WHO DID THAT BEFORE WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG AND COMING UP???

Are you a "professional?" Do people ask you dumb ass questions over and over after you finish work? Do people tweet at you, make memes, attack and berate you? This culture is way different than what professionals had to deal with before social media. Fuck the press, without the stars they would be fucking homeless. Damn parasites!

It is very simple. If people don’t want to do press conferences then don’t be a professional athlete.

To be able to retire at the age of 35 while creating generational wealth, yes I would spend 10 mins answering questions about a simple game.

Are we really arguing about at most 7 questions and 10 mins?

Again, Quit making this about YOU.

It isn't.
Stop saying how easy it would be to answer questions. Maybe for YOU it might be, but no one want to talk to you. THIS AIN'T ABOUT YOU.

Stop talking about how much money she makes or how fast she makes it, that ain't the point of this discussion.

Here is the point.

in the rules of the French Open, it says what is supposed to happen if someone doesn't show up and do press.

Osaka SAID: "Okay, cool. I'ma do that" SHE WAS WILLING TO PLAY BY THEIR RULES and pay the fine, LIKE THEIR RULES SAY SHOUD HAPPEN

and just like white people often do, they got pissed and considered changing their rules mid stream about it and expelling her.

She told them; "Fuck off, you can't fire me, I quit"

The person in control of all this came out to announce she was withdrawing- AND REFUSED TO TAKE QUESTIONS ABOUT IT

And now that her sponsors have her back, let's see if these bitches change their tune..

you so fucking caught up defending your white Idols: "but... but... it's so easy.. just 7-10 minutes... she makes millions... simple questions..."
and you have ZERO smoke for these hypocrite ass white people moving the goalposts tho'?

Stop talking about how easy somebody else's job is, or what THEY should do. You're being obtuse.

If the job is to stressful then simply leave.

We all know how important it is in professional sports for athletes to be accessible to the media and how it promotes the sport.

You can’t just walk in an accept a check from people and not follow the rules. The rules clearly state that you must do press.

At that point you have a choice. Either do press or walk away like she did. For me, I would never leave money on the table for a 10 min press conference.

Negro please. They fucked up. She walked and now they'll lose ratings and money. They media won't cover those loses. No one paying to see their asses. They should have supported her like her sponsors.

We got to be honest without ourselves. The elevator not rising to the top in her. She didn’t need to be playing. She needs help. Does this look like someone who is stable?

It has nothing to do with the press or media. She is the problem. She needs help and should not play again until she gets it. The media babied her and she still folded. She really needs help

This is a very interesting post because Naomi had To mostly handle this success (good and bad) by herself and without a strong figure in her life like Venus and Serena dad……..I can see why she needs to step back for a minute to take a mental break. Also I have a strong feeling in the background that her Japanese and Haitian side of the family are pulling her to pieces.

Well "find" then.

she "MINUS WHALE" right?
 have you flushed yourself lately?
To me it is her team that's at fault. Clearly you can see in her old videos she was troubled. I understand that as long as she is winning and playing her team cashes some nice checks

But now is the time to sit her down until she gets her mind right.

I don't get how this needs to be explained. The responses in this thread are insane. She brakes the rules she agreed to, she gets fined. Case closed.

It is not Insane some people have to take a step back for a minute to get their mind right….Naomi is a prime example of that regardless of the responsibilities.

Oh well @BrownTurd now what?

No if you don’t like it you take a break. Dude I could tell you are a millennial. I’d rather her take a break then have a full breakdown

You living backwards. You think this is the 90s. Who does interviews now? It is changing and if you don't like it you can turn the TV off bro.

And maybe she sees a Serena and says she doesn’t want to end up like that. Probably made that decision when she saw those Serena photos.
