This is what cats dont understand no contract is unmoveable.....hell gilbert and rashard switch places.
The NBA CBA might have a clause to allow a team to have one player contract not count against the cap....Follow the CBA
Two trades could happen for example Richard hamilton and someelse for gilbert...
The gilbert deal isnt as bad the media would have you to believe.....Gilbert is 29 and rashard is 31....both where making 20 million a year.....Either way Orlando took a risk....Rashard aint doing nuthin in Washington.
Remember stephen jackson, ron artest....No player is unmoveable....Deals are discussed all the time
You still havent answered why would Dwight leave No income tax and great weather, his son and house........For Higher taxes in New york,New york incme taxes is like what 11 percent to 18 percent OMG!! bad weather and no closer to a championship.....What reasons would Dwight leave Orlando for really????????
Good for him. This is a great move and one that bodes well for the players in terms of negotiating the new CBA. It was the owners intent to dissuade players from attempting to test free agency and encourage them to sign extensions and stay with their current teams. Howard is basically saying "fuck it, i realize im gonna lose money by not signing that extension before the cba expires but imma do this my way and take my chances". Good for him.
Orlando needs to get realistic and just go to him and work on finding a trade partner so they can atleast get something out of the deal while they can.
I read the orlando paper this morning OTIS Said he was making changes but this team has only been together for a half season..... so he wont let a first round lost cause him to panic
What if Dallas after the Golden state first round Blew the team up.....Otis is smart dont be fooled.
But Smith said his goal this offseason isn't any different than other offseasons. "My job going into every season and offseason is to make our team better and give ourselves the best chance there is to win an NBA title," Smith said. "The problem is, after you get ousted in the first round, you're expected to have a knee-jerk reaction and make wholesale changes. "The fact of the matter is, we made wholesale changes during the season. A lot of those changes — I wouldn't say they didn't work — I just think that you have to allow chemistry sometimes to jell, the things the fans may take for granted. So every year going into the offseason our objective is to get our team better, and every year during the season and the offseason we've done that. So I don't have any bones about trying to get better. That's what we do."
Howard's ability to become a free agent gives him additional leverage as he urges Magic officials to upgrade the roster. Howard has hinted at dissatisfaction with the team's roster before: during a Memorial Day barbecue in Orlando and during a charity event on June 2 in Alabama.
Orlando could do a Gilbert for Brandon Roy deal.....brandon has a year longer than gilbert on his deal but he younger and might have more upside![]()
Joe Freeman: Monday was the first day the Blazers could tender Greg Oden an $8.8 million qualifying offer. They declined to immediately do so. But indications are the Blazers will tender Oden the offer. They have until June 30 to do so. It would make him a restricted free agent.
You are really Hoping and i see you trying bro
Actually OTIS SAVE MONEY with the trade
"The Orlando Magic will actually cut payroll by $11.4 million through next season with today's massive trades bringing Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu to town in exchange for Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis and Marcin Gortat. But by 2013, the bill for Arenas and Turkoglu will come due." http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2010/12/18/1884208/gilbert-arenas-trade-jason-richardson-salary
So actually Orlando is good for 2012 and in 2013 gilbert contract is expiring makes him easily tradeable for another big star that team would want to get rid off.
If it aint about Money......why would he go to the nets...Orlando has a much better chance than the nets....As Dallas Showed team chemistry and togetherness matters.
If is aint about Money he would stay in Orlando with his House and where his Son is at.....
If is about money he would make more money in Orlando cause New york TAXES are Stupid crazy.....
The Weather and other things just make Orlando a more pleasant place to be..
Watch out i see Brandon roy coming Orlando also WATCH!!
Lets say for example this is about Winning and Not Money
Cause if it about Money he would get More money in Orlando anyways.
Lets say it about Winning.
1. Dwight's words Orlando’s the most attractive place for me right now,” Howard answered, a smile on his face. “They have a sexy new arena, a beautiful franchise, nice banners around here and been in the top four in the Eastern Conference for the past four years. Yes, Orlando’s the most attractive place.
2. Orlando has a New arena One of the best in the league More money.
3. Orlando for the last four years has been a top 4 team in the east......while the nets have been at the bottom....WHY would he start over.
4. The lakers without Phil Jackson arent that attractive with Kobe over 30....Gasol over 30 as well. Dwight aint going to the Lakers....starting over with the lakers aint the place.
5. Boston,Miami, Chicago all have superstars in place most likely they aint changing their teams. The East is still wide open...Miami has Holes, Boston is getting older and chicago needs another scorer and boozer aint the answer. Atlanta would have a chance but thier management is shaky they will mess it up.
6. Dallas cant sign howard, OKC city likes their team, Portland, Memphis, San antonio spurs.......Really!!
7. Dwight is the MAN in Orlando.....The System and Everything is his in Orlando. You dont give that up easily
8. Dwight Has said over and over He wants to STAY IN ORLANDO. ORLANDO IS GREAT.
9. Orlando has advantages over other cities, Lower taxes, better weather and ORLANDO is very attractive for free agents.
10. Why would D- will and C. Paul turn down a chance to play in Orlando. Orlando has tradable pieces in Jameer, Brandon bass, ryan anderson, JJ redick.
a. New arena in Orlando
b. Dwight is the MAN!
c. NO taxes
d. Great weather
e. Other free agents want to come to Orlando
f. In the east there is No other center to compete with.
g. D-will and C.paul join Orlando and they are right in he mix for the championship.
The nets should worry about signing D-will first before worrying about Dwight
"I would like to not have the distraction (of looming free agency) during the season."
New Jersey guard Deron Williams is expected to sign with agent Leon Rose, a source said Tuesday, after leaving former longtime agent Bob McClaren.
Messages left for Rose and a representative for McClaren were not immediately returned.
Bloomberg News reported Tuesday that Williams had fired McClaren, who is primarily known as an MLB agent but had close ties with Williams.
Williams spent six seasons with the Jazz before being unexpectedly traded Feb. 23 to the Nets.
Rose, who is affiliated with Creative Artists Agency, is one of the premier agents in the NBA. CAA represents LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul, among others, and played a pivotal role in James' controversial decision to move to Miami last summer. Williams is expected to sign with Rose, the source said, with the hope that Rose's star power will help bring top-tier talent to Brooklyn, which is where the Nets are expected to move for the 2012-13 season.
Williams has one year left on his contract with New Jersey. He holds a player option worth $17.7 million in 2012-13.
One of the main reasons Utah dealt Williams to the Nets was the belief that he would not re-sign with the Jazz, preferring instead to play in a larger sports market that had a better chance of winning an NBA title.
Since joining the Nets, Williams has said that he is open to remaining in New Jersey.
Sounds like wishful thinking. What free agent has ever signed with Orlando?![]()
please dont let this shit drag on...
Maybe he offered him one of those little 2 foot tall giraffes....
If im D- Will or C.Paul I wanna Play with D. Howard.
The Question is where at?
Orlando is much better place than New Jersey come on really.
Orlando Cap Space isnt an Issue I know you are trying to make it an issue but it really isnt. Orlando has showed a willingness to spend and Make moves. CBA anmestry rule to drop one bad contract against your cap also!!
If Jameer and Gilbert get moved to make room for chris paul it will happen......Dont Rule out anything...
All I saying is Orlando is more atractive than New Jersey
And Dont be Suprised if D-will or C.paul end up playing in Orlando with DWIGHT HOWARD>![]()
What if Dallas after the Golden state first round Blew the team up.....Otis is smart dont be fooled.
explain how this will happen.
All you is saying stuff that is likely won't.
You are talking about a team that is currently way over the salary cap as of right now. The new CBA will have the cap lower than it is now.
So of course Orlando cap is an issue. Maybe this is news to you but teams over the cap can't spend money. You keep talking about moving Gilbert. You really think a team is going to move an expiring contract for Gilbert Arenas??
again look at Orlando cap situation as ESPN said even if you droped one contract you are still over the cap.
Orlando is number 3 in the league with 90 million on capyou think shedding one bad contract is going to fix that???
You are right that the magic have shown a willingness to make moves and spend money.
none of those moves have been smart. Lewis? overpaid. Arenas and Hedo two over paid players who are at best bench players at this time of their career making huge money. JJ and Chris Duhon bad contracts now.
again Orlando is at 90 million taking one bad contract does nothing you still won't have money to spend.
You will not be getting better.
I put it like this. If Dwight really believed in Orlando he would have did what Durant did sign the extension and called it a day.
Dwight doesn't trust the Magic organization and his free agency is a way out.
You keep talking about CP3 and Deron what cap space will you used to sign these guys??
Orlando had a good run but their time is done.
how does otis smith still have a job? its like ferry in cleveland. NBA GMs have AMAZING job security![]()
TWO WORDS:Amnesty Clause![]()
again that only counts for one contract.
one word: Math
Tell me this subtract Gilbert contract from the Magic pay roll now tell me are they still over the cap.
Now do this the new CBA will be even lower than what is currently so that makes it even worse for the Magic. So again nothing changes about the magic situation.
Your team cap is still fucked up
Again tell me why you think Otis "I made Rashard Lewis the second highest paid player in the NBA" Smith is a smart General Manger????
LOL cats are plotting to get Dwight Hard!! Of course he became a free agent that his leverage to get the team to improve.
Florida No State Income tax and No Local taxes are very good for nba ballers.
Dwight home and son are in Orlando.
It wont be easy to leave Orlando as some may think
So he trades No state income tax and great weather for The Nets with New york tax rates and a team no closer to a championship. Doesnt make sense.
More likely Deron or Chris paul sign with Orlando. Gilbert contract they will find a way around that. Gilbert is only bad move orlando really messed up on. Florida attracts NBA free agents like BEES to HONEY!!
Yep Orlando will probably move a PG getter get Better there and Maybe get a new coach next year
Maybe trade Hedo for andre Igoudala
Right now it all Rumors!!
But the Nets fans are sure they Got D-will. Which might not be the case. Theres a Good chance D-williams and C.paul will realize the tax advantage of Florida.
Lebron, D-wade and bosh realize without Taxes you take home whole lot more money. weather aint bad either.
The Nets have been last in the league for years that aint changing no time soon.
Avery johnson the guy dallas fired is the nets coach.
Really the nets have a better chance of building threw the draft.
I will believe it when d-will sign the extension
And if the Magic do not win the 2012 championship and the personality of the roster stays the same?
"Then things have to change," Howard told NBA.com.
Including your address?
"At the end of the day, as far as what I want to accomplish as a basketball player, to be one of the greats, you have to win championships," he said. "That's how I see it. I want to do that in Orlando, and hopefully we can get it done.... Everybody's asking me from the beginning of the season until today where am I playing in a year? Am I getting traded? I have no clue. As of right now, I want to be in Orlando."
He rents an apartment outside the city and keeps his legal residence in Florida.
One Word Trade
Orlando has Other Very Moveable Contracts.
Now tell me why you think the Nets are going to make the playoffs anytime soon.
Why are the nets going to keep D-will
Why are the Nets going to be a top east team in the next 5 years
KEEP DREAMIN The Nets are still a Poor Organization that is trying to change.....The New Owner aint Mark cuban yet.....and it took Mark 11 years to get a title......
CALM DOWN NETS FANS!!![]()
You just keep praying Dwight comes to the NETS so ya'll can make the playoffs for the first time in ten years
PRAY HARDER!!
Major announcement on Open Mike radio show about something we believe will keep Dwight in Orlando. Tuesday, 8 a.m.
Dwight has reassured fans that he is still staying, but no one’s sure how long that will be for.
Orlando need to change their roster and bring in players who can better help Dwight bring NBA World Championship glory to the franchise, but it’s hard to see how. The Magic already have one of the most bloated payrolls in the league and the new CBA will only tighten the budget.
