Open marriage: Who's OK With This? Will's wifey is.....

Marriage has been one man one woman in this cutlure...it's not always been so globally. A man in numerous other cultures can have as many wives as he can afford. Are they attacking traditional marriage or succumbing to the flesh?

While we're on the subject of traditional, traditional in what sense? The current 20th Century sense of marrying for love? Or the much older one on of marrying for money/stability/security/political reasons?

"Open" relationships aren't anything new. You may have been married to someone you hated and you two only had sex when it was time to procreate, and you both went your separate ways when it was time to do something you really "enjoyed."

The history doesn't support our creation myths...

I agree with you 100%. Muhfuckas are so infatuated with 'celebrity' life-styles n shit. :smh:

Since when did Will and Jada's 'relationship' or whatever the fuck you wana call it, become a metric for calibrating what is and is not acceptable. Man, fuck boefum.
:hmm:

Damn man did once date Jada, and Will took her away from you? Why you so mad? It's their lives let them live as they see fit. Who are we to judge?

^^ ^^

It's a weird relationship because it's not polyamory, and it's not cheating. Well at least with polyamory the people don't do the "legal" marriage thing--between 1 man and 1 woman. This just seems like lust and having a clause to step out on your wife because even Will said Jada has never brought up a dude she wanted... Hmph!

why is this muthafucka blunt wastin it's time replying to posters who don't give a fuck what it has to say.

For the sake of the thread readers who are interested in the truth about this lame subject matter (rather than just another repeat of the old internet urban legend).

I really don't give a shit what dummies like you think of my replies. You're free to remain ignorant. I'm just quoting you for the sake of continuity and perspective. Whether you read my reply or not is irrelevant.

I've always been a fan of Will & Jada's alleged open marriage.

My husband and I don't quite have an 'open' marriage as we don't run around sexing other people. However, WE have a girlfriend who lives with us. I don't mind sharing my husband and life with her.

The three of us laugh, joke, and fight just like any couple. Some days my girl and my husband are beefing, some days she and I are beefing, some days me and the hubby beef ... Shit! Some days we all be beefing! lol.

We don't tell any of our family about our relationship because we know most wouldn't agree with our lifestyle. Bottom line - I'm happy, my husband is happy, and my girl/wife is happy. It just works for us.

Jada hasn't brought up another dude yet! You know to see his reaction when its her turn to go get laid will be priceless. How will he react. Even worse think of the guilt trip if she never exercises her right to step out.

I guess it really doesn't matter to the "true believers" that they really don't have one. People will always believe whatever they want (or need) to believe, for their own self-serving purposes. Yikes.

You must live in "Hollywood," since only couples from that locale do such things (at least according to certain posters).

 ASTONISHING! May I ask how long has this been going on? That's not an easy one to pull off. Most unusual setting I've heard of in years. Good luck.

It has been a year and a half. You're right, it's definitely not something I would recommend to everyone.

Some women can't stand to see their men even glance at another female. I had no problem allowing my husband to love and care for another woman. Hell, I love her just as much as he does. There are no insecurities with us.

you cannot be black. if you are black, you gotta be UGLY as fuck with NOOOOOO self esteem!!!! amd that nigga gotta be the sickest gorilla pimp fat cigarette smokin son of a bitch this side of suge knight!!

Will Smith (Blender Magazine, 2005):

I never said that I had an open marriage. What I said is that our relationship is based on 100% truth. That, no matter what, there’s never going to be something that I would say or do that I wouldn’t tell her first. And then the interviewer said, well, what if you were with Eva Mendes and you wanted to … I said, well, I would say to my wife—if that situation presented itself—I would say, “Honey, I want to sleep with Eva Mendes, is that OK?” And, you know, she’d probably say no. But the point was, how can you expect to be successful in a relationship if you’re not telling your partner the 100% truth? The fact that the interviewer could take that in the direction he took it showed me where he is in his relationship, you know?

We're Black. And I'm FAR from ugly. It takes a self-confident woman to allow another sexy ass female into her bed. It's the ugly, insecure females who have their men in handcuffs. They are always fearful another chick is gonna take their man.

Not I!!!

What's really funny . . .

... is how cluelessly arrogant people like you are.

I really don't care about your silly, self-congratulatory postings, but I do have sympathy for those gullible innocents who are gonna fall prey to yet another ludicrous, black-oriented urban legend, perpetuated by folks who really don't care about enlightening the community, but would rather get off on exploiting it (for their own personal "shits and giggles").

Is it truly a "marriage" though with a third party?

Blunt you have posted this before yes. you do realize that some may be merely trying to get under your skin? Well I guess its all good cuz you do the same as well.

And why haven't you been funny? I mean I KNOW you can be. :hmm:

Is it truly a "marriage" though with a third party?

Nothing about my marriage is traditional. The three of us have such a strong bond that it feels like a marriage - just between three people instead of two. If there was a way for us to be legally joined, as crazy as that sounds, I'm sure we would do it.

Blunt you have posted this before yes. you do realize that some may be merely trying to get under your skin?

When people keep repeating the same mythology, it behooves me to repost the most explicit DENIAL available. It's endlessly fascinating to me to observe how people keep repeating misinformation in the face of obvious and clear debunking. This goes much deeper than this particular salacious story. It happens all the time, everywhere. Let's just say that I view this board (or thread) as a microcosm of society and I'm conducting my own brand of a psychological experiment on it.

Well I guess its all good cuz you do the same as well.

People get back exactly the same vibe that they put out. The rudest people usually cry the loudest when someone actually dares to talk back to them in the same tone of voice and with similar biased or dismissive language. They're used to being bullies.

And why haven't you been funny? I mean I KNOW you can be.

Purposeful ignorance (and outrageous and hostile rumor-mongering) is too sad to laugh at. There's too much of it out there as it is. It discourages people from using their critical thinking apparatus. I can't do anything about it out there, but I'll damn well put my two cents in about it here (even if it falls on mostly deaf ears, at least my conscience is clear).

Baby, don't argue with Blunt. He's posting something from 3 years ago. Just to show you how out of touch he is with CURRENT events.

Will declaired that he and Jada have an open marriage while being interviewed by a british tabloid just this week. It's all over the internet and was discussed on black talk radio. Just click the links posted in on the first page buy myself and Shane.

See now you sound like you're trying to justify to yourself why your relationship is o.k. You basically stood up and lied before God & your family about you & your husband being in a monogamous relationship with each other. If it's so great, why do you have to hide it from your family?

I have a feeling that it was your husband who first brought up this "girlfriend" business. Maybe he brought it up as a threesome, you enjoyed the freak session, and then you got convinced that you needed a 3rd person. But I know good and well that when you stood up and took your vows you did not have this 3rd party in mind. You may not have even been friends with this person at that time.

But don't sit here judging faithful, monogamous women because you decided to have a permanent 3 some. I have no problem with polyamory--that's your choice. But don't ridicule marriage.

Lying before God and my family - blah, those words are lost on me. It's no one's business what I do in my own home. We don't need everyone adding their two cents. If it works for us than that is what we'll do.

It was not my husband's idea at all. I wasn't into women when we first married, but begin to develop those feelings as time went on. I didn't hide or deny it. I immediately told my hubby. We talked about it for months and I made the decision to act on my feelings. She was MY girlfriend at first. After a while, we all became close.

I never ridiculed marriage. I ridiculed insecure women.

Yes. Legally married for several years now.

No other man has or will ever be in this situation.

No children.
