you cats need to get on these sites & apply for these jobs.
I've been in this industry for a while & I get into project planning/funding. we just finished our project forecasts about a month ago & there will be solid upstream work for at least the next 10 - 15 yrs.
the end game is your retirement yrs...do you want to work bc you're bored at 65 or do you want to work bc you need to eat at 65?

LS is a real good brotha.. He put me up on game and answered all my questions with details.. even broke down what classes I should take in order to get in the oil field.. I thank him for that.. but after thinking about my pregnant wife and the fact im bout to be a daddy im not sure if i can leave my family for weeks at a time.. really want to do it tho.. would love to work in Africa.. this might be a single mans game

Heard the same thing about the pay that people here in the Uk are getting in the North Sea. Poeple are heading to Aberdeen for that kind of work.

u a foolOne of my ex's father works on a rig... he lives in bastrop LA. When I was down there before we split, he was on his way out to the coast to catch his helicopter ride out unto the rig. The guy got two houses, a helicopter, hovorcraft, and a Range. She constantly reminded me that "she don't need no nigga" believe that.
I would do his job... hell, I'm working 14 hours now on two damn jobs making under 50K. I've been homeless and dead broke before, i'm talking stomach shrinkage from the lack of food and cotton mouthed broke... I'd try to lift a damn entire 200lb pump over my head if I had too. I'd live on that rig 365 days without one complaint.

If you're black go to West Africa especially Nigeria. I got a friend who works for Royal Dutch Shell who says they don't send white people there anymore, too many threats of being kidnapped.

It really depends on the relationship you and your woman have. If she can take the away time the money might offset it for you. Remember, you get equal time off. Usually any days over 200 per year will get you a nice bonus.
It just that when you have those 26-28 days off, make the most of them. Take your future kids everywhere with you and spend lots of time with them. You can also use skype for vid calls if the rig connection is fast enough.
It can work, but your relationship needs to strong and your woman needs to have her head on right. If she spends time with bitter broads, they will hate on you when you're gone and you will end up like some of the miserable fucks I work with. I think your wife is African, so she might have a different mindset on you providing in this way. I don't really know your situation.
Gotta go fellas, there is a rum tasting event going on downstairs and my woman wants to go. That is another perk of working offshore, my vacations are a lot better now that we have some extra $
LS

to all you guys queried bout not having experience, go to halliburton or schlumberger; they LOVE training folks to their way, i.e. "growing their own."
my nephew started with halliburton 16 months ago in west Texas doing frac work...dude making $72k already. the work is hard & the hours are long but he gets a per diem. 14 days on, 7 off, i think.

big blue got that long paper. hell some guy think u be slaving all day for 12 to 22 hours. ssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttt.

Do what you love because no amount of money will ever make you happy. Just ask any miserable millionaire or watch There Will Be Blood for a prime example.
I would suggest to any of you cats interested to pursue an A.A.S degree in Process Technology
for those that dont know it's to be an operator...oil refineries are EVERYWHERE and operators are always needed with guys aging and retiring...I work for a chemical comany here in Houston and we do De-con work at different refineries worldwide...I was at the BP refinery in Toledo Ohio last month and I swear man I went to the Crude vac unit to sign into a log book and saw this brother sitting behind a desk looking at a movie on a laptop...dude just passed out permits and was getting $34hr working 12hr shifts and worked 16 days in a row...sunday is double time and if u work a holiday TRIPLE TIME...another brother told me if you working there and u make 100k u bullshitting
offshore work is cool but operators have it made...and it's not just oil refineries its chemical plants too...most of the time those cats be in the control room sleeping
It seems like all the reputable schools are in the southern coastline states
does moblack work offshore tho? is he gone for weeks at a time?
