Oil Rig Work Apparently Pays MAJOR Bread...

This is funny.

In this world, no one is paying you this type of bread, or more, without some major sacrifices being made.

There is a reason why 30k a year dudes have all the time in the world to be at home with their woman and/or kids.

Don't try to sell us on that 'it's not all about money' jazz, 'cause the title of this thread made it very easy for someone not interested to by pass it.

Wait hold on bro. You talking about guys plundering the earth but you typing on a computer. I bet you have a cell phone and put gas in your car as well. Wifey wears make up, nylon panty hose, or other products. You know they all come from crude oil?

Just about any job in the "civilized" world can lead to this.

Also, as a person who doesn't want to empower rich corporations, do you live a carbon free life?

sooooo, is your car for sale?

You guys bring up valid points.

That said, obviously because of the system we live in and being a person that cares for the environment, I have to choose my battles wisely. However, my actual comments were in regards to an occupation and not necessarily as a consumer. As a consumer I will admit I am just as much of an environmental scumbag as the next man. I still have a ways to go in that regard.

You sure about that?

what do you do now ?

your post almost sounds like the cats sitting in front of the liquor store talking about not working for less than 10 dollars an hour but they aren't making anything now.

I coach middle school basketball. Throw basketball birthday parties on the side. Hold basketball camps during the summer. You live in LA? Got a shorty between 4-14? Come sign him/her up.

Point is, when you are doing something that you are passionate about, something that you've loved doing since you were a kid and most importantly, something that you would be doing for free anyway, the Universe blesses you 10 fold with more than you could have ever dreamed of.

I would love to live in the country. Go hunting Everyday and work my farm but at the same time I want six figures a year with benefits. Glad to have a lil gig you like but don't knock us brothers who getting it in the field.

I also do individual basketball camps and training for all school age groups.

But I do that because I am passionate. I also do clearinghouse tutorials so that kids who have the skills can qualify for scholarships and do ACT prep.

Those are done to give back but not to pay my bills.

Well, depending on where you work, and who for you can live anywhere. I work with dudes that just fly to a different country on their time off. Also, a lot of these cats do the Thailand thing and drink and party their time off.

That would be a lot of BGOL brothers fantasy. Working overseas and then flying to the DR or costa rica on the time off.

I hear a lot about the pay and hours but I still don't see a step by step breakdown of what you need to to get hired coming in with no experience...

This is the first I am hearing of a TWIC card

idk if this is for me... I'm not a weakling... I work out... Play sports... but I got more of a white collar professional background...

Do what you love because no amount of money will ever make you happy. Just ask any miserable millionaire or watch There Will Be Blood for a prime example.

Why not use your passion to give back AND pay bills? Meaning, why not get paid for what you love to do? In my experience it makes for a much happier life.

There is not enough money in it.

You did see that Tim Grover the trainer to the stars and multi millionaires has lost his gym right ?

Attack Athletics, an elite West Side athletic training facility built by Tim Grover and backed by his most famous client, Michael Jordan, may be headed for foreclosure.

Grover's company, Attack Properties LLC, is in receivership and owes more than $12.2 million to creditors. Among those with substantial skin in the game is Jordan, who stands to lose $1.5 million as an unsecured creditor

Nah but as I've already stated, when you are doing what you love and are passionate about the Universe always blesses you 10 fold beyond your wildest dreams. So as the saying goes: "when 1 door closes, several others shall open". This is considered the law of flow. In order for the energy of blessings to flow to and through an individual, their old endeavors must pass before new ones can come in. However, most interpret the passing of old endeavors as bad luck or misfortune and when this happens a person usually reacts in bad favor which ultimately blocks the flow of future blessings that were sure to come in.

There's likely more money than you have ever dreamed of waiting for you if you only had faith and put 100% of your energy into it.

You dumb fuck go fuck off. I'm not no damn janitor. Anyone who knows me on here knows what I do for a living.

for those that dont know it's to be an operator...oil refineries are EVERYWHERE and operators are always needed with guys aging and retiring...I work for a chemical comany here in Houston and we do De-con work at different refineries worldwide...I was at the BP refinery in Toledo Ohio last month and I swear man I went to the Crude vac unit to sign into a log book and saw this brother sitting behind a desk looking at a movie on a laptop...dude just passed out permits and was getting $34hr working 12hr shifts and worked 16 days in a row...sunday is double time and if u work a holiday TRIPLE TIME...another brother told me if you working there and u make 100k u bullshitting

offshore work is cool but operators have it made...and it's not just oil refineries its chemical plants too...most of the time those cats be in the control room sleeping

Who supports you though ?

Besides I don't hate what I do for my career.

Ultimately I like to think I support myself through my integrity to stay on the path that I was destined for.

But if you're asking who pays me:

I have a private contract with a middle school in an affluent community, which is one of those blessings I'm referring to because wealthy parents don't hesitate to break bread which funds the summer camps, private lessons etc. Plus since I'm good at what I do my name gets thrown around to other schools and parents in need of someone with my value. So if something where to ever happen at this school I'm at now, I'll have other connections to fall back on.

Being a sort of alternative person, I leave alternative comments in threads all the time. Some get picked up, some don't. When they do I am more than happy to respond to any questions or inquiries that come my way.

Basically u have to understand PSI, How many Lbs of steam, hell man its different variables but math is just a part of it...gotta know process flow and where a pipe starts u need to know where its going to and what shit gets added into the process...oil gets broken up into so many differnet things...Crude, Sweet crude, Coke, Kerosene and Gas, man toothpaste has components of oil in it...u would be surprised how that shit works

it might be decent money in the summer but during the school year i don't see it paying enough to support yourself independently.

But you are in LA so you can sleep outside all year ..Can't do that in Chicago :lol:

but then again when I ask cats at different refineries did they go to school most of em say no...I was in Wood River IL last week at Conoco Philips and some of those operators were new dudes...hell man I saw like 5 or 6 women too!!! And none of em went to school

BP operators up in Ohio didn't go to school either...one guy said it took him 12yrs to get hired on......that many people be applying...In Houston and Port Arthur/Beaumont u pretty much have to have at least 5yrs experience in a refinery/plant or 2yrs schooling because we have colleges here that offer the course...but everywhere else it ain't the same

Man if a fat white girl can become an operator then a black man can trust me

LS and moblack have been talking about it for years...can't say I'm not curious...who wouldn't want more pay? :dunno: My job is easy and the pay is OK...but this sounds easier and apparently pays a lot more

You'd be surprised

If you're focused on what you "can't do" you're reality will be a manifestation of what you "can't do". Focus on what you "can do" and you'd be surprised how many more doors miraculously open up for you.
