Oil Rig Work Apparently Pays MAJOR Bread...

how do you get one of these jobs?

chuchhhh! how do you get in???

hair test or piss test? i'd stop smoking for a shot at this.

my brother did deep water welding in trinidad. i don't talk to him any more otherwise
i'd find out more information. he also used to do the 14 on/off offshore shift too.

Yes, but I have only been tested once after I got hired and that was when my ass was working in the shop. :smh::smh:

Fuckers in Africa are on all types of shit, but they don't test.

You dumb fuck go fuck off. I'm not no damn janitor. Anyone who knows me on here knows what I do for a living.

Please brothers, no animosity. I like to keep these type of threads "Ock Free"

Anything that helps younger brothers get theirs should be beef free.

I make enough to provide for my family. However, the real payoff is that I get to wake up and do something that I love while contributing to the foundation of the next generation.

That's good bro, but you have to understand that a lot of us offshore cats put in those 3-5 weeks and then have the same 3-5 off to be with families. With the internet, skype and phones now, people with young kids talk to them every day.

Not trying to convince you, but I work with brothers that would be stuck at 7-10 bucks an hour onshore making 18-24 offshore and having 180 days off to be with family. If you work 5 months off and 7 on, you can make 100K + easy and get skills that will translate into "regular" jobs.

Personally I'm just not into toiling for money. More importantly I won't do any sort of occupation that just uses me as a pawn so the rich can get richer, especially an occupation that involves raping and plundering the precious Earth and her resources so it can be used as a method to enslave, indebt and control the mass population.

Thats good bruh but I feel the same way about my job. I work half the month and anything pass that is time and a half. Great benefits, and hella good pay with company perks. Thats great and all building a foundation but I'm out here working for my family.

To the guy talking about the prices of hotels. Man I swear there is like 30 in my area. They built all them joints for the Motiva expansion project now they empty. :smh:

shit i'm a ChemE and I didn't realize process folks were getting money like that

might need to get my ass on a rig, here soon

Wait hold on bro. You talking about guys plundering the earth but you typing on a computer. I bet you have a cell phone and put gas in your car as well. Wifey wears make up, nylon panty hose, or other products. You know they all come from crude oil?

informative thread.
lot of Brothas without jobs that need help.
lets keep it informative.......

I want to put some people on. do you need some kind of college education (at least 2 years of the basic stuff) or some kind of training in order to at least get in the door?

If i have a MBA and 5 years of general work experience what is the best avenue to get in door? Do I still need a process technology degree.

Just about any job in the "civilized" world can lead to this. As I said earlier, I work with "3rd world' young men and do everything I can to teach them to "put me out of a job."

As an ROV tech, part of what I do is report oil spills and discharges into the environment. Part of my job requires me to do so.

Also, as a person who doesn't want to empower rich corporations, do you live a carbon free life? I have a hybrid and a gas guzzler. I maybe put 1200 miles a year on the Suburban. Most of the miles on it are used to recycle and move stuff. Other than that, the bitch sits.

getting the jobs is the issue... unless you know someone or have crazy specialized skills:smh:

Not really. Most of the guys I work with barely have a high school diploma. All I'm saying is that is better than working fast food and feeding your child top ramen every day.

Oh, hell yeah. I known this sh!t for at least the past 5 years.

I used to be an affiliate for an oil rig placement site.

Just remembered, have a former client who stopped working here in the states and got on a rig just last year making MAJOR CAKE.

I understand that if you have young children. I have seen guys literally with broken hearts because they missed kids first day of school etc.

But I also work with self taught guys running a rig's electrical system making 200K a year being able to insure that all of their children have college educations. these are the LSU/Auburn/Old Miss rednecks I have worked with.

if you are stuck at 20-30K a year struggling and tired, how much is your family really benefiting from you being there 24/7?

The guys i speak of, have 25-30 days off to spend with family. The white boys I know down south doing this take their kids everywhere and have energy to be there cause they have so much time off.

It's all about the person though. if you are there every morning making breakfast, and taking the kids to school, that is invaluable. If your family needs you fulltime, don't even think about doing what I do.

Brothers.

I have been talking about this for 5 years now.

The work is hard, but the pay is good. I'm not on Da Don status, but I am typing this response from the Caribbean.

Check here to change your life: Offshore work

I really want to see brothers who can handle the isolation to get that money.

PS: If you have a needy ass woman, be prepared for drama. I speak from experience. :smh:

thanks

That is the reason we need a Job/employment forum in here, not only to post new job offer but to exchange info for those looking to try a new field and have a ton of questions.

One of the biggest issues with this line of work is location, where i live for example is a dessert and there is absolutely not training whatsoever to get myself in this field, so is good to find out what other choices i may have, if any.

Then they had some excellent construction experience ?

they weren't green right ? or knew some one ?

Not trying to be negative ,but I applied in the past... and it's like my apps disappeared in thin air

This is funny.

In this world, no one is paying you this type of bread, or more, without some major sacrifices being made.

There is a reason why 30k a year dudes have all the time in the world to be at home with their woman and/or kids.

Don't try to sell us on that 'it's not all about money' jazz, 'cause the title of this thread made it very easy for someone not interested to by pass it.

3 Times was asking questions until he saw the hours...

...and then suddenly, he turned into "Captain Planet".

My father in law worked at a BP refinery and was scheduled to retire.

They asked him to postpone his retirement for 3 months and offered him a years salary if he agreed.

what do you do now ?

your post almost sounds like the cats sitting in front of the liquor store talking about not working for less than 10 dollars an hour but they aren't making anything now.

the same is true for southern new York & northern Pennsylvania...the hotels were crazy busy.

and a few months ago, i was out near Bakersfield. yuck. the work is there but the city itself & the people were like aliens to me.

I'm used to nice people, humid climate, good food.
Bakersfield was rough, rugged, tired-looking people, dry as camel dandruff, & horrible good. i hate that damn place.

as a chemical engr, your options in the oilfield are ENDLESS!!! you can work process either downstream or upstream, you can work the chemicals side, pipeline, or even get into trading & marketing.

big oil companies fight over chem engrs...we are considered the most versatile of all the disciplines in the oilfield, & we get the top salaries.

the last guy i trained had a masters in mechanical, bachelors in chemical. we started him out at $85k with zero real world experience. after a year, he was making 6 figures.
