With no context and going by the thread title alone, it looks like a clearcut case of abuse.

After viewing the unedited full video: In light of the fact that the little girl is his daughter and he also had his hand on his son's chest, then throughout rest of the video all three appear unified and she appeared otherwise comfortable with him, it does seem odd from a logical standpoint, that he would just stand there and intentionally abuse his own kid in broad daylight in front of cameras.

For the sake of all involved, I'm hoping it was just an innocent gesture and not something nefarious.

Recent controversies, like the ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ documentary, are making us be more vigilant about the people we see in the entertainment industry. We learn that the people we look up to and adore could very much be capable of sexually harassing people.

However, awareness comes with ignorance. When we aren’t responsible to fact check the information presented to us, innocent people are crucified unjustly.

This morning, a manipulated video of Aquaman star, Jason Momoa, has been going around social media. In the edited video, it appears that Jason was rubbing and squeezing his eight-year-old daughter’s chest before she pushed his hand away.

However, it was discovered that the video was taken out of context.

The original video was during the Hawaii premiere of Aquaman last month. The clearer video is actually of him becoming emotional for coming back to his hometown.



In the video, Jason was evidently emotional, comforting both his son and daughter while watching a Hawaiian performance. When the daughter pulled Jason’s hand, it looked like it was because she was about to ask him a question.

It’s disappointing to see a sentimental moment manipulated to look sexual.

Through the years, Jason Momoa has spoken about how his kids mean the world to him. In interviews, pictures, and even from his co-stars, they would always say that Jason is a ‘hero’ to his kids.

While we are taking sexual harassment more seriously now, we should also be aware of the people who are using it as propaganda. With the huge success of Aquaman, hitting almost a billion dollars at the global box office, it’s no surprise that there will be others who would want to smear his reputation.

Let this be a lesson: be more responsible in using the information fed to us and do proper research before riding the hate train.

But think about it like this, if this was you and in your mind you know you not doing nothing wrong, and the media started accusing you of molesting your children, how would you react? If this was some home video and nobody was around, yeah, my thought process would be totally different. But you have to consider the context of the vid. I'm not saying there is ever an acceptable situation where a kid should be touched in this way, I'm saying that what it looks like, is not what's happening. Reminds me of that Michael Beasly gif where he is rubbing dudes knee and thinks it his own.
