good point about Predators showing up during the hottest times. I think that is something they have gotten away from in the film canon.
The first two were during hot climates/times. Alien vs Predator 1 was in Antarctica lolz. AVP2 was in Colorado….Predators wasn’t even on earth but the planet didn’t look that hot.
I didn’t even bother watching The Predator (2018)….but the whole absence of that part of the canon did bother me…. It (Prey) was a good film though.
''For those wondering: the pistol was given to set up a potential sequel to show that the Predators had been coming to earth for centuries, and the original planned Predator 3 movie would have been set in the past to show how the pistol was earned, and show how other people through the ages had fought the Predators with more primitive weaponry (there were further sequels planned to be based during World War 1, the Civil War, Crimean war, Crusades, even Predators fighting Indigenous peoples, Mayans, Vikings, Aztecs, Knights, Zulu warriors etc). But it was intrigued by the battle, and impressed by Adolini's courage to keep fighting depsite the odds. Seeing Adolini was worthy, the Predator decided not to kill him as a trophy but instead respect him, and joined in and fought back to back with Adolini, defeating his entire crew together. Seemingly victorious, Adolini cheered as he had won.....but one of his crew suddenly shoots him in the back, before dying. Critically injured and with his last dying breath, Adolini gives his pistol to the young Predator as a sign of respect, and simply says "take it..." before dying. Many years later that same Predator, now an elder high ranked greyback, is seen here - once again impressed at the bravery of another warrior in the face of being outnumbered despite the odds and having the courage to still fight, and passes on the gun to Harrigan as a sign of respect, honour and courage, exactly as Adolini once did to him, mimicking what was said to him. I really reccomend the comics for some really awesome lore and extended universe material, and stories which were supposed to be movies we sadly never got!''

(SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT DONT READ!! ) im sorry prey was nothing but a im woman and i can do anything i want and better movie.lol i almost cut it off when the mom said why you want to hunt and she said cause they dont think i can...............................i was like welp i know what type of movie this is gonna be and i called it every last piece i called it..this 5'2 girl who couldnt catch a freaking deer ,a bear,a rabbit out lived EVERYONE i mean every man died even the hunters that been hunting there whole lives gone all the other settlers about 40 of them dead but this lil woman out lived everyone.real talk i know this was a woke movie ok but if that was real life you know they would have kicked her out the tribe if she went against the man hunters maybe even killed her if she did what she done...everything the men said she said no lol im like yep this is exactly what i thought it was gonna be ... the huge thing that made me mad was she was like ht e predator dont think i am a threat and then she blast the predator like come on how woke was that.i know some feel me and some may not but im not the only one thinking like this its tons of vids on youtube saying far worst.if you look past all the female hear me roar crap and look at the action it was cool but what would have made this movie good was if they would have came together as a tribe and killed it that would have made more since but hey it is what it is......the movie advertise this as the predators hardest challenge lol not all of Arnolds crew and any others crew but this lil 5'2 woman lol .NEXT!!
I went back and watched Predator 2 after watching Prey. I initially had Prey ranked #3 behind the OG movie and Predator2 but after watching it again. I realize the movie hasn't aged as well as I thought. It's still a good watch, but gets away from some things in the original. Like figuring out how to out smart the Predator and set traps for it. All #2 did was have the seen in the meat warehouse, where the secret military team used some type of suits and mist to be invisible to Predator. Plus it was a 90s action flix all the way with goofy one liners. The OG had a few, but not as many as the P2. And don't let me get started with the Jamaicans pulling up in the gold Caddy with a zebra ragtop, filled with ganja smoke...lol. Still a nice movie and Glover was decent, but over the top. I have to move Prey into the #2 spot by behind the OG movie now. It wasn't perfect, but IMHO better than P2.

Keep in mind the Predator had been weakened before the final battle. He was shot by trappers, stabbed with a spear by her brother, and some other injuries. I actually think it's more believable that she could defeat a Predator than how it was presented with Danny Glovers character in P2. They at least show her training and figuring out a plan to kill the Predator. Glovers character goes in guns a blazing, head to head. He hadn't seen the Predator or new what to expect until the final part of the movie. He had know idea or plan on how to kill it.
And I don't think the returned to murder that tribe. IF anything they went to collect what was left of the defeated Predator and somehow obtained the gun through peaceful means. The probably just wanted to meet the warrior who bested one them. Hopefully this will be explained in future installments.

also enjoyed how this was the closest to the OG with a bare bones approach
for those complaining about how ol girl took out a Predator guess we watched two different movies
the predator was getting fucked up the whole movie from scraps with a wolf, bear, frechmen with shitload of guns, the tribesmen that held their own and the main characters brother...the predator wasnt coasting part of her winning was also due to accumlation of damage throughout the film
also the brother mentioned that her gift is that she was able to see things other didnt, She used her smarts and skills of observation to land the final blows and demonstrated against the frenchmen she aint a slutch in her own right

The movie is called prey.. the alien is the predator.. he goes after apex predators.. he looked at her as prey and considered her weak and vulnerable aka non threatening… in the first predator the alien didn’t kill the girl cause she was non threatening, it’s also why Arnold kicked the gun out of her hand to save her life cause as long as you are considered non threatening aka prey it won’t harm you. in part 2 they were nice and didn’t allow the predator to kill the female cop cause she was preggo and I guess he had a soft side not to kill the broad.. in this movie you seen her for the most part be a failure as a hunter and well why predator didn’t gun for her.. with this mentality is why her bro said utilize that way of thinking and kill it.. she appeared to be a soft target and used it against the predator.. zebras are prey to lions but I’ve seen zebras kick the shit out of a lion and break its jaw which made the lion unable to hunt and chew and it died off..there’s times deers have used their antlers against animals that normally hunt and kill them..sometimes the prey defeats the predators..that’s what they want you to take from this movie..even the people viewed as weak can catch a win ever so often..buster douglas
The fighting tactics were on point with the way they fight back then(I have native friends) but that shield should've killed her. It deflects bullets, cuts off limbs, yet she's still standing after he smashed her in the face. He's strong enough to lift bears and slam them, but he does the same to her and she ninja rolls

To add to that.
When hunting for sport, the general rule is not to take out females cuz they are needed to replenish the species.
Most likely the Predators follow that rule, unless the female poses a threat like you mentioned, then they will take her out.
Technically they could still do that storyline where the gun gets passed around and the pirate just takes the name as his. Someone knows the real Raphael Adolini and coupled with other reasons decides to mutiny. Yada, yada, yada. Predator helps and we pick up where the comic starts.
But that is a very good story, I will have to check that comic out. I didn't get into Dark Horse until later.
