Yeah Lesnar was blocking a lot of the punches and I was sitting like this dude is going to punch himself out and that's pretty much what happened. He was gassed in that 2nd round.

Shane stunned Brock, but you gotta knock him out to win it. He came close but he couldn't get the job done. That goes for every champion, to be the man, you gotta beat the man - Ric Flair.
In a championship fight a late stoppage is always better than an early one.
No you DON'T have to knock him out to win. That's exactly Alex's point. Shane did more than enough to win by ref stoppage, had he been fighting a different fighter. Brock got the champ treatment tonight from Dana White, fam. It is what it is.

Real Talk.....in most other fights, the refs would have jumped in and stopped that fight. But it was the main event and Brock is the biggest draw in the company, he is going to get the benefit of the doubt. I personally don't believe that a fight should be stopped until someone taps or goes limp. You should just take shots until you are completely out otherwise keep fighting. In any event, major props to Brock. Dude regrouped and did what he does best, takedown and dominate. It didn't take long once Brock got him down, fight was over.

What i'm saying is the UFC gives all their champions the benefit of the doubt. Yes, that does suck, but KO or Submission is the only way to become champion. You simply won't win by decision because the head honchos of the UFC and the judges won't give out the W. Just look at Lyoto Machida's first fight againt Shogun Rua. He beat the breaks off of Machida, but Machida got the "W".
So he has been exposed by taking punches from a heavy handed guy and then choking him out
