Official NBA 2017-2018 Thread - Final day of the regular with playoff seating still unknown

NO.

The guy who averaged 25 7 and 7 while playing high level defense who left one team and turned it into lottery scum and went to another team that was lottery scum and took them to a finals should have been MVP. Period.

His defense has slipped a lot. It's no longer high level. He rest on defense.

As he should... Hard being best player in every statistical category on your team for 15 years. I was talking about 4 years ago when he first came back to cleveland... His defense was still very good.

you're kinda proving my point.

When Curry won it was about winning... Best player on the best team. 73 - 9 season and he was their best player. Rockets were a 3 seed I believe that year, so of the players in contention for the award, the player with the better record won out.

Last year, of the two players in contention for the award last year, Harden had the better record, beat Westbrook in the playoffs, and his numbers were every bit as good as Westbrook's were.

So which is it? Is it or is it not about winning? Best player on the best team, right?

Again I'm not taking anything away from Russ last year because it was phenomenal... but he shouldn't have won the MVP in my honest opinion. People just became enamored with the triple double and that's what pushed Westbrook to victory.

Westbrook's season last year was no better than Harden's.

I hear you pimpin. I just understand why the other two won it over Harden.

He wasn't fucked out of the MVP when Curry won it.
Last year sure yes he was.
But bills, what are we going by? Is it record and best player on the best team or best player period, record be damned?

I'm simple. I like simple. MVP is MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. In my simple terms and simple thinking, the award should go to the player that is most valuable to his team's success. A player that, without him, his team's total wins would be severely impacted.

Both years in question, you can argue that James Harden was that player.

I'm not mad they won it over Harden...

I'm just saying, let's get a definitive way of picking the MVP and not have it essentially be a popularity contest.

Both Curry and Westbrook were valid MVP choices when they won. But you can't reward one based on one set of criteria then the other on another set.

Curry put up dominant numbers and is the literal engine of which the team is built.
I agreed with you about last year, last year it should've been out of him and Lebron.
Curry got rewarded on the above reproach criteria. The things he did directly correlated with the teams success both those years.
And their success during the regular season which is what this award is for, the teams were #1 seed overall.
Now last year we agree. Harden or Lebron should've won.

Ok bills I see your point. And I'm not taking anything away from Curry, that season, or what he/they accomplished that year. I'll just ask you one question.

If Curry were not on that 67-15 team, would they have made the playoffs?

Edit**

My bad I fucked up. I got the two years mixed up...I corrected the record only. Question still stands tho...

My bad fellas...I need to correct something.

I just looked at the stats and standings and I'm wrong on something. I forgot Steph won back to back MVP's and I got the two years mixed up.

That year the Warriors won 73 games he most definitely deserved that hardware. That was the 2015-16 season. It was the year BEFORE that where I think James Harden was fucked outta the MVP.

That year the Warriors won 67 games, Rockets 52. James had an unbelievable year and willed his team to 52 wins, averaging 28/7/6 to Curry's 23/8/4.

And look at his record against the insurmountable west you dumb fuck. Foh.

Sigh. Nigga East vs West games don't mean shit. Even a dumbass such as yourself should know that it's much different preparing for an opponent that you will see maybe 8 times(including playoffs) vs one you will only see twice a year at most. James has never had to survive through a Western Conference playoff run. If he did he would not have all those consecutive Finals appearances. Wack ass teams like the Wizards never do shit about it. Respect to Wall.

So you mention his conference record but now wanna ignore his winning record against the other conference? You sound like an excuse making bitch. And let's cut the shit... Only team he would fare poorly against in a series are the spurs and most recently the warriors... Two teams he has beaten in the finals. Won't even remind you of how dirty he did OKC when they were a western conference power house. So again, you sound like a excuse making bitch... A misinformed one at that.

You niggas and this myth about the west conference greatness are fucking clowns. Its two teams... And he has bested both in 7 game series.

Ray Allen saved his legacy and He cried to the refs to get MoufStayWideOpen suspended, then Kyrie hit the shoots of shots to win the finals!!!

OKC my dude? Stop typing. That nigga was on the Heat at that point. No way any Cavs team Lebron was on would've beat OKC that year. FOH.

So you're forgetting that he would've had to also battle the Lakers, Grizzlies, Rockets, Nuggets, Mavs(who beat him with the Heat) etc in all those years. Come on dawg. Get your knowledge up.

And to further my point, the only teams that were able to stop that Juggernaut in Miami were teams from the West. The East didn't stop shit.

Hey asshole, your point was that he success is predicated on him playing the east... Im telling you those successful years he would have mopped the floor with ANY western team in a 7 game series not named SA or the current GSW... Two teams he actually beat for titles. Those years include his miami years dummy. And fyi- his record against western conference teams pre miami years is easily above 500 so you fail there as well.

So you're forgetting that he would've had to also battle the Lakers, Grizzlies, Rockets, Nuggets, Mavs(who beat him with the Heat) etc in all those years. Come on dawg. Get your knowledge up.
And any of those Lebron led finals teams that made it out of the east would beat those teams in a 7 game series you dam fool. How bout you get YOUR knowledge up. You guys romanticize the west like its filled with world beaters when the reality is its top heaven and filled with mediocrity. lol@ this dumb ass nigga trying to throw the fucking nuggets in there...

And to further obliterate your shit point, Bron walked thru two of them for rings... One of them he flat out destroyed.

@Amajorfucup is just upset at KD for going to Golden State and fucking it up for Lebron

He wasn't this upset at Lebron for playing with DWade, Allen and Bosh

Oladipo put up 47

They've really started noticing he doesn't give a fuck about defense with Thibs, because they wonder why with Butler and Thibs do they still suck defensively

Apparently Butler got upset last week

Some blame needs to be given to the next Lebron cough

Chicago is putting it on Boston

OKC :smh: Time to think about letting Donovan go and try to save the season, because this could be Steve Nash/Kobe/Dwight embarrassing

Yeah Jimmy talking real cryptic in his interviews

Down by 13 in the 3rd going to the 4th, come back and win by 7...

We ain't play ANYTHING resembling defense tonight... Pelicans and Rockets combined for 156 first half points :eek2:... But still pulled that W... Boogie is a fuckin problem, but Capela held his own tonight... This was a game I wanted to see how he played against a big, physical, talented post player... He did damn good... And Chris Paul had a stretch late in the game where he just DOMINATED... He pulled a move in the paint so dirty on a Pelicans defender... Looked like some And 1 shit

**Edit** found it! CP3 with the handles!
