Official lakers vs mavs thread!!!!!!!

Why is it when the Lakers lose, it has to be some John Kennedy conspiracy.

When San Antonio loses, they just lose
When Boston loses, they just lose

Dallas out played us, it's as simple as that.

Man i just laugh at all that, especially when others start to co-sign like they actually believe all those "it's so much deeper" paragraphs cats write.

mavs thread!!!!!!!

steve kerr said he didn't even recognize the triangle this series.

he just said there were so many times that pau gasol and andrew bynum got the ball in the post, but there was no movement from the OTHER players.

he just said there were too many ISO's for tobe.

funny how these bitches will never say this shit on camera during games, but wait until the safety of after a series is over.

:smh:

As long as the Celtics don't win the title, Laker fans should be allright this year.

This was a statement series.
Hunger plus focus always gets feed. Mark Cuban did the right thing this series and kept his mouth closed.

Re: mavs thread!!!!!!!

sure are a lot of bitches lurking right now.

a lot of crickets too.

so many cake boys always asking my whereabouts after games, but all i hear is crickets.

I'm here

And a lot of people are in this thread shitting on the Lakers, but their teams...not players, their TEAMS, don't have close to five rings, much less 16

Naw, he just needs to change his game and pick his spots more. He's going to need to lean on his teammates more.

Done from being a top five player, but he can still be an effective player. Jason Kidd isn't a top PG anymore, but he's still a good player. Mike was still an effective player in his 40's with Washington.

Come on man.. That sounds good theoretically, but I just cant fathom him playing that role... he has the ABILITY to do it...but not the MENTALITY in my opinion... he is still going to score 20 points a game because he is a volume shooter but he is going to give it all back on the defensive end like he did during the playoffs this year..

Who said there was a conspiracy. Ive been saying all season that the lakers were struggling defending the perimeter and it finally game back to haunt them.

HOWEVER, they very obviously had serious chemistry problems on and off the court to finish this season....just listen to the post-game interviews,etc... a lot of darts throw....

big personalites on that team...lots of egos to manage..so gonna be interesting to here what was going on behind the scenes...shit is all good until you start losing and then the truth comes out...

Im just interested to see if Phil gives his perspective on what caused the downturn..

Isn't that any team

Re: mavs thread!!!!!!!

on it's face, lamar odom's foul wasn't ejection worthy.

flagrant for sure, but he didn't go to the head or anything.

officials knew what he wanted, and appeased him.

i mean it wasn't like the wood derek fisher put on luis scola.

I do agree here:cool:

Why these niggas acting like people didn't do cheap shots before though? Bill Lambeer use to power bomb niggas on the court.

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::lol::lol: at all this shit.

He might not be able to check Jason Terry or Barea, but he damn sure can check Deshawn Stevenson or Jason Kidd.

He shouldn't have to guard Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo or a Russell Westbrook anyway.

Isn't that any team

I dont think so.. but I didnt watch all the interviews for every team...but i remember when my Pistons ..the first back to back team and the 2005 team after winning in 2004 got knocked out after their title, they didnt really say anything negative about their teammates....

just seems like over the last couple of weeks players were talking a lot about teammates not doing their part.... then Bynum was talking about trust issues that seemed to allude to off the court stuff... then the shit about Paul and his wife ...

just seemed like a lot of shit going on..i dont know.. just seemed like it.

C/S, i was telling some cats at work this (laker fans obviously) and they looked at me and :lol::lol::lol: he was getting beat on basic fundamental offense and this is the guy that is suppose to have one of the highest current basketball IQ's? :smh:

Thats all hype and marketing....

A lot of sports writers don't actually seem to watch games.

They look at box scores, get their talking points, and run off at the mouth.

Kids that don't know any better run with the hype.

Kobe has been fucking up for years...

The Lakers have won in spite of Kobe...not because of him....

Put any other shooting guard on that team and they would be 70 win teams.

Guys get tired of rebounding and playing D to get no shots and public scorn.

Jason Kidd isn't a top PG anymore

Don't agree.

JKidd knows what he needs to do, and he does it. In the close games this series, Jkidd locked Kobe down in the fourth. straight up.

Kidd's game hasn't always been about stats as it has been about touches. when kidd touches the ball, good things happen for his team. Kidd makes his teamates better with his basketball IQ.

These playoffs have exposed Russel Westbrooks lack of understanding of the game. Kidd fares better than Chris Paul. A Kidd/Rose matchup could bend towards experience.

Agree on the second part because those are PGs.... but Jason Terry is not difficult to defend.. he is not going to beat you off the dribble...he is not like ray allen running through 3 screens and releasing quickly .... it is a lack of effort...

not just a problem with Kobe... I think Wade is lazy as hell off the ball as well..that is why they kept losing to Boston during the season...he was falling asleep and letting Allen get loose in transition (well struggled offfensively as well)

the problem is that Kobe doesnt have the quickness anymore to recover on perimeter shooters..he has always been lazy off the ball..but now he just has too many miles on his body to recover when out of position..he doesnt have the legs anymore... and he shoots WAY too many jumpers at this point on his career.. he is on some Josh Smith type jacking threes shit.... ridiculous considering how great his footwork is and he should be able to play from the post and get good quality shots

That's all teams.
All players have egos

The Lakers are just nitpicked like no other team other than maybe Miami.

Nobody really cares what Orlando, San Antonio or Denver's saying after they lose a series.

Did anyone analyze Miami's statements last night?

Complex,

I hear you. I'm eating this loss with them just like the wins . . . But answer me this, have you ever heard a losing team say those VERY same words, "they just out played us", AFTER putting out a sub par performance?

They usually say that they self destructed ALONG with honoring the victors of that game.

It's exactly this heartless ass playing that turned me off of sports. I'm from Chgo, and was a fan before and during the championship runs. After that era, I chose the Lakers because I KNEW what Phil Jackson did for my Bulls.

I remember how Eewwll's Pistons used to come to my town, owning Pippen's head, until Mike gave him some 'tough talk'.

The Mav's SWEPT the Lakers; i.e. got the job done and done well. ALONG with that the Lakers having A COMPLETE meltdown.

I ran track, and was an avid baller. And I didn't see ANY 'competiveness' in the way the Lakers played.

So you're right, but damn if that wasn't some of THEE most awful, uninspired play, I've seen in a defending champion. . . EVEN previous teams that got swept, or got 'out done', played with more hustle/panic/ fill in whatever word you want to use.

But I'll bet along with this victory . . . Dirk and 'nem are like what the fuck? If that's how they're playing, we going though them EVERY year now!

You have shown up for sure....

But another mans money doesn't make you rich.....

I knew the Lakers wouldn't win it this year....

I just didn't expect them to get swept

agreed on the westbrook part.. cant stand shoot-first, shoot-second..pass as a last resort PGs... but you are tripping on the Chris Paul part... Chris Paul has the least amount of talent around him... the Hornets finished the season without their top scorer... Paul on the Mavs is a title contender every season

What truth?

That he's selfish?
That he makes bad decisions at times?
That he shoots too much sometimes?
That he's a future hall of famer
That he's one of the greatest ever at his position.
That he has five rings?

That truth :hmm:

Just wait for my next book...

Abut Jason Terry is not difficult to defend.. he is not going to beat you off the dribble...he is not like ray allen running through 3 screens and releasing quickly .... it is a lack of effort...

It's not a lack of effort. It's the defense getting beat and while rotating, leaving a man open. Dallas found the open man everytime in this series.....

Jason Terry being open was his ability to find the seam on the perimitor as the Laker defenders were being being broke down (JJ Berea did damage). Can't wait to see the next series. College rings are not easy to get, yet JT has one (as a key reserve 1997). Jason Terry is the Gilbert Arena that never gave up.

Ive watched those too... nothing stood out recently (because they have been playing well) but they were on some bitch shit earlier this season (lebron) crying about playing too many minutes and stuff.

But I think the lakers have always had players with huge ego..that is why they needed Phil to manage the personalities..

come on man...you know Kobe is not a normal player.... and for instance, you know Shaq was not either when he was out there.... shit... Magic..etc... Lakers dont have stars like the Spurs... they always seem to have a certain type of player who seeks media attention.. i mean.. Odom is doing reality shows and shit brah....

.

It most certainly is. I pointed out specific moments (with time stamps) during game 3 where players just failed to rotate. Even Phil Jackson and Bynum repeated the same things in the post game interviews. I literally saw players just watch a play unfold and not make the effort to rotate.

Paul doesn't defend like Kidd. Major impact on the game. Paul is all offense. I'd take defense anyday. Ask Ray Lewis, or this years NBA champs.

Quickness is nulled/damaged when it runs into strength. Kidd knows his new limitations and plays within them so his team can win. Does Paul really eat up Kidd? I don't think so.

Paul is a liability on D

dirk nowitzki just emphasized moving the ball and letting everyone get touches.

sad when a foreign born euro understands fundamental basketball better than americans.

Most players shoot mainly jumpers at the end of their careers.

Mike at 34 was different from Mike at 26.

I do think he shoots too many threes.

But he doesn't really have the room in the post with Gasol and Bynum down there, and they would need a better three point shooter than Ron Ron on the other end.

Come on man... exactly..The Mavs had the type of team that could exploit the weaknesses of the Lakers defense.... but man... how could anyone not see the lack of EFFORT.

This team didnt play with desperation. They definitely didnt even extend the full effort to defend the perimeter.

The Mavs just werent hot.. they had a lot of wide open shots where they could square up and release with zero pressure on them..and on many of the shots...i saw lakers backcourt players just floating outside of the point and not rotating to challenge shots.

That was the whole team, from Brown to Fisher to Kobe to Artest.

All of them were out of position.

I disagree with that, he might not be Aaron Brooks, but he still has enough speed to get by Fish and Kobe

Not making the effort to rotate is admitting in getting beat in the first place. Don't get beat, then there is no need to rotate and fuck up the defensive communications.

It's not called Man to Man rotating Defense, it's called Man to Man, just keep it at that and avoid all the rotations.
