think about it like this.

you are standing in bounds with the ball. your opponent comes over and swings his hand at the ball, but strikes your hand instead.

lamar odom got 5 rebounds in less than 15 minutes played. those rebounds sparked fakers transition and the fakers converted 4 out of the 5 rebounds into points.

5 rebounds is equal to the number of rebounds tobe had. 5 rebounds is equal to the number of rebounds ron artest had. and they played 34+ and 40+ minutes.

5 rebounds is more rebounds than paul pierce had. 5 rebounds is more rebounds than kevin garnett had. and they played 40+ and 23+ minutes.

lamar odom only attempted 3 FGs. even if he missed all of them (he didn't), would that really have made a huge difference?

it's hard to come off the bench and be productive, and when you add a heap of PFs on top of it, it's even worse. after "fouling out" of the first half in Q1, he didn't return until the middle of Q3.

kinda rough to expect a lot more from him, under those circumstances. ask ray allen after G1.

that's funny. if a player is performing at an "underachieving" level for more than a decade, that's a pretty good indication that the performance level is the status quo and not actually "underachieving". maybe it's time for some people to confess that they simply aren't that good at accurately spotting talent or potential.

but i thought the knock on lamar odom has been that he is inconsistent. now it's also that he's underachieving too?

i thought the first game was horribly officiated. not so much the second. they let a lot of calls go, mainly down the strech. that garnett/gasol play was strange.

My problem is just they arent being consistent. If you are going to call a guy tightly, continue to do so the entire game.... but you send mixed messages by calling bullshit touch fouls and then letting more physical things go later and then switching back up to calling touch fouls...

I have to agree. They need to go back to what was working through the playoffs and even moreso now...running the triple-post. We all knew that Kobe wouldnt have the types of games (in terms of scoring) that he had in the last two series in the western conference playoffs because he didnt have to expend ANY energy on the defensive end. Now he has to chase around Allen, Rondo, etc..not resting on defense.

Kobe had been playing great ball. I thought he had finally made that last leap... I want to see if he really has or if he defaults back to becoming too much of a dominant part of the offense.

This series wont even make it back to LA IF LA gets away from the triple post offense and it gets into a one-on-one game... ( I still have Boston in 7)
