I was about to say the same thing. It would have worked with dumber Marshals. The vest wasn't important, but a reason that seemed feasible. The money and the cards were extra ammo for the kids. I thought he was going to kill them and take the car.
Man, we all say we hate work and just want to sit on our asses and watch TV and shit, but that would be cool for 2-3 weeks - maybe 4 then we would go stircrazy.

Arlo showing up and Ava calling Raylan out on his self righteousness and Redneck self hate was good too.
Hate that this show is ending... the dialogue is masterful
May have been the best episode of the series

It's been said before, but not often enough, how Raylan - especially how he chooses when and where to disregard the law at his own discretion - could have just as easily been a criminal as he is a law man.
Ava: You know what I mean. Wishing you were better than you come from. Just admit something, you could have just as easily been an outlaw as a lawman

Talk about summing up a person in one sentence. Hates Arlo so much that he destroyed any and every evidence that he exists with absolutely no sentiment - now that's hating your past. The ghost of Arlo was brilliant, and how sometimes he was right there and others he wasn't.
The disapproval of his father haunts Raylan but he's in denial ...

I miss Dewey Crow. He was always good for a laugh, but after seeing this last episode I see why he had to go. Gotta get rid of all the stupid cats...Ain't no room in this town for idiots anymore.
The shit Raylan did to tempt Boyd was brilliant. What better way than for Boyd to actually SEE what's in there? He knows Boyd going after it now.

This whole thing is wonderfully crafted. Damn the writing is great on this show. A character like Katherine seems harmless...seems. It's like that movie with Roddy Piper when the demons are out and only one person can see them, and Art is that person...and older Raylan. Brilliant
The way BOTH of them leaned in? Yeah, it's crazy. It'd be hard as hell to walk away from that kind of temptation. But yeah, all of the silly stupid shit was cool to keep the show going, but this season they had to eliminate the idiots and focus on the many slithering snakes, mongooses, wolves and hunters.

you are right about Boyd meeting to be a politician. He is a smart dumbass, or a dumb smart ass... Nope, it's the first one. he can't seem to get out of his own way at every turn.
it's funny that they are so many Raylans written different ways on this show. Loretta is very much like a young Raylan, while Art is very much like an old one.
Katherine is full of surprises. I knew she had a gun in her purse. but having the cleanup crew on call was a nice touch to show she is the Black Widow.the Colorado kid leaving that Eastern Diamondback in Loretta's living room was a nice touch. with him showing off the Quick Draw it speaks of a showdown with Raylan Givens.
It would be funny if Its like the "20 foot rule" where we never find out who is faster. He looked quicker than Raylin though.

Tonight's episode took the damn cake - this story is now a 6 ring circus - damn the next few episodes might reach Blake Edwards levels for complexity, dark humor and maybe even a little farce

The entire season almost EVERY damn man was talking about how they used to LOVE her
(I think even Raylan's sniper partner was wondering abut the effect she had on men)
She is the classic Elmore Leonard femme fatale...
I realized something in that car ride
Raylan wasn't the one that got away...he was the FIRST one to break her heart who left HER first.
that really messed with her...I actually thought she felt bad for Dewey but i think that She realized yet again that Boyd is a cold hearted killer and was gonna use it to her benefit when she could.
That may be my ONE & ONLY gripe with this show (besides never telling us the dropped Haitian storyline)...how detached and unsympathetic Boyd seemed in understanding how TERRIFYING prison was for her.

She is dumb as hell for this move. I'm going to say this, MOST women don't think shit through - not completely. They think they do, but they don't.
Women play checkers all day and sit like Red from Shawshank "A total fucking mystery. I hate it," when it comes to chess. They plot one, two, if they are lucky - but that shot outta left field comes and they are lost. Why? Because they love so much talking about how much better planners women are but they never think about the, as Limehouse put it, "The Unknown Unknown. Something that you don't even KNOW you don't know," because they think they know every fucking thing.
If she gets found by the phone she is a true fucking blonde. Raylan handed her back the phone after she threw it out the window on a country road. Without tracking advantages they'd fund Jimmy Hoffa before they'd find that phone. She better toss it.

The thing I love about this show is something they never do on TV...have a tell in episode 1 and don't reveal why until episode 7 or 8 or 10, or even the next season. The instant gratification nation we are can't stand that, or maybe never got the chance to see if they could take it. This is the first show I've seen it on and I've seen a lot of TV.
And Mr. & Mrs. Ofay was hilarious.

This is why I don't watch, "Next week on..." with a show that I am already addicted to watching every week. What is the point to hooking a fish that already has a good hook in him? I don't need no other hook.
But you would be interested to know from the previews, Rachael made Ava #1 Most wanted on the Marshals List.

I actually like the cowboy a little. The diner scene was cool to me.

Everyone either hates or fear the Crowders. From Boman to Bow, Boyd was the only redeemable one, but he walks the line with most people.
I like the diner scene because it was uncomfortable. It could have all been avoided had he just went over there and filled his cup. But he had to say something slick under his breath to a bored/crazy person which lead to him fucking with him.
It was basically like that classic scene from Louie.

that diner scene was tense as as hell I kept telling the dude just GIVE HIM THE DAMN HAT, but what WAS great about it, it was one of the few times I actually put MYSELF in that situation...the LOUIE comparison is PERFECT.
