Some very interesting match-ups in the group game. Especially in the two groups below.

  • Group E: Spain, Costa Rica/New Zealand, Germany, Japan
  • Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea

H, or what Jermaine Jenas kept referring to it as, “Hayt-ch” looks a treat. Very physical battles there.

But you guys are defending champs. A championship that came out of nowhere last season.

Two of those goals are Mendy's fault, is like he forgot how to keep.

it was but my thing why keep lukaku on the bench
these trainers want to be so creative it hurt themselves

Lukaku has been a dud since joining Chelsea. Started off great after a few games but then fell off.

That chance he missed yesterday against Real was a sign of a striker that's out of form.

Was never Prem capable for me. He went to Italy and lit it up but let’s be honest, who couldn’t.

He won’t recapture that Italian form in England. No chance.

Don’t know what James and Rudiger were doing in the end. Chelsea handing Madrid the game on a platter.

:smh:

The VAR handball ruling looks like bullshit. That was a goal by Alonso.
Agreed, bullshit and inconsistent if Alonso had handled the ball accidentally during build up play and it led to Chelsea scoring they would have counted it then what's the difference handling the ball accidentally and scoring.

"Accidental handball in the build-up to a goal will no longer be deemed an offence. The crucial word here is 'build-up'.
It will still be an offence if an accidental handball directly creates the chance that scores the goal, or scores the goal itself."

When the ball pops up, it’s going at a rate that Alonso would’ve never been able to hit the ball had he not handled it.

The speed of the ball when it pops up off the ground, then his knee, is going way too fast. The only thing that stops it and repositions the ball for him to hit it correctly is his hand.

Accidental or not, VAR got this correct. It’s no goal.

Tennis star Serena Williams and Formula One titan Lewis Hamilton have joined Martin Broughton's bid to buy Chelsea, a source told Reuters on Thursday.
Former Liverpool chairman Broughton's consortium includes World Athletics president Sebastian Coe and wealthy investors from around the world, who the group says all wish to maintain Chelsea's top status in world football.

Private equity veterans Josh Harris and David Blitzer, who own sport teams including the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers, are also backing Broughton's bid.
Williams and Hamilton have pledged an estimated £10 million ($13.06m) each to the bid.
Reuters have approached Broughton and Williams' representatives for comment.

Williams is already an investor in Los Angeles' Angel City FC, which will make its debut in the National Women's Soccer League later this month.
Final bids for Chelsea, which was put up for sale by owner Roman Abramovich amid sanctions being imposed on the oligarch by the British government after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, were submitted earlier this month.

Others on the shortlist to buy the Premier League club are L.A. Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly and Boston Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca.
A consortium led by Chicago Cubs owners the Ricketts family, which was formally opposed by the Chelsea Supporters' Trust, pulled out of the running.
The club's sale is being overseen by U.S. bank Raine Group.

They should’ve battered us with that many chances. We at least KNOW we suck right now.

Can’t say the same for West London.

Tuchel must be a little worried, especially with the cup final against Liverpool coming up.
