Gallas pulls up injured in training

Tottenham are facing up to the loss of William Gallas after he was forced to pull out of training on Tuesday.

Gallas, who has been a solid performer since his move across North London from Arsenal last summer, could be out of action for up to a month after pulling up with a hamstring problem.

He has been joined on the sidelines by defensive midfielder Wilson Palacios, who faces a similar length of time out after undergoing knee surgery.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was quoted as saying in The Sun: "It's not good. William just pulled up and now we have to wait and see whether there's a tear.

"William's been in great form for us. If he's out for a long time it's a big blow for sure."

Gareth Bale was also said to have suffered discomfort in his thigh as he struggles to return to full fitness, though he is not thought to be a doubt for Saturday's visit of West Ham United.

Spurs are currently also without Jonathan Woodgate and Tom Huddlestone.

He's got good hands, but is Chad Ochocinco just as skillful with his feet?

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver will find out next week when he joins Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City for a four-day trial, the team announced on its website Wednesday.

With the future of the 2011 NFL season in limbo, Ochocinco accepted an invitation from Sporting head coach Peter Vermes to try out for the team.

"Due to the NFL lockout, I'm excited to be able to follow my childhood dream of playing for a Major League Soccer team," Ochocinco said. "Thanks to Sporting Kansas City for giving me this opportunity."

Although Kansas City already has handed in its official roster for the recently begun MLS season, Vermes insists that Ochocinco still can make the squad if he impresses during his tryout, which begins on Tuesday.

"We're always searching for players who can help our team and bringing in new talent," Vermes said. "We know that Chad is an exceptional athlete and that he loves the sport of soccer, and he did play a lot when he was younger."

A 10-year veteran of the NFL, Ochocinco played competitively as a striker from his youth until his days at Miami Beach Senior High School. Despite abandoning the game for the gridiron, he remained a die-hard soccer fan and even formed friendships with some of the sport's biggest names.

"I know a couple of guys. Ronaldinho is one of them. Thierry Henry is good friend of mine. Cristiano Ronaldo, I talk to him all the time on Twitter. We DM back and forth. Ashley Cole is a good friend of mine. I used to go watch Thierry Henry play at Arsenal every off-season," Ochocinco told SportingKC.com.

Whether or not he can compete on their level remains to be seen, but Ochocinco is confident in his abilities on the pitch.

"I played soccer before football, and I was good. That's where I get my quick feet – my feet are unbelievable," he said. "There's not one person in soccer right now that would beat me running, that's including Lionel Messi."

After the initial, four-day test, Kansas City will decide whether to extend Ochocinco's trial period or release him.

Lyon made Madrid look like gods. :smh:

:yes::smh:

They kept giving the ball away in their own half.

Man......I'm sitting here saying to myself, "they just need one, they just need one." Even after they scored, "they just need one and they are still in good shape"...but no turnovers, horrible clears & passes. This game was just awful.

Chelsea didn't give me much to get excited about anyway....although they were up 2 so I barely paid attention to begin with.

This will be interesting to see in the coming weeks. I wonder if he will really make the team or will it all be a publicity stunt. Would be nice to see how his skillset shifts to the football pitch.

And DJCandle....I need to story behind Wenger and what was going on in that gif

Lol, I remember seeing that live. I don't remember the specifics though.

In a nutshell, the game was 2-1 in injury time, and RVP hits a late equalizer which was then ruled offside. In Wenger's frustration, (and I refer to MCP's GIF:cool:) he sends the nearest water bottle flying, presumably the Stretford End cause that thing never came down, and the referee's assistant decides he doesn't like how he mistreated that poor bottle, and confers with the ref to hand him his marching orders.

Well with a mere :30 seconds left on the clock, a completely confused Wenger has no idea on where to go during the final seconds, turns around and says "fuck this..." and heads right up into the stands.

What's funnier perhaps was his response to said incident:

Speaking after Arsenal's 2-1 defeat, Wenger said: "Thirty seconds to go… It was really spectacular. I didn't even know where to go. They told me to go to the stand but there was no way up to the stand. Just because I kicked a bottle of water – I didn't say a word to anybody. And it was quite a good kick…"

Can't hate the man for that.

Abidal operation

Eric Abidal underwent surgery this evening at the BarnaClinic, part of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.

The operation was carried out by Doctor Josep Fuster Obregón and his team to remove a tumour in the player’s liver.

During the operation, which lasted for approximately three hours, the medical team removed the tumour through laparoscopic surgery without any complications.

The player could be fit to leave the hospital within a week, depending on his progress.

In accordance with the specific wishes of the player himself, the Club would like to demand the maximum respect for his privacy at this moment.

As a football fan... :smh: but

As someone who tries to empathize with Madridistas.. :smh::lol:

As much as I hate Madrid, I can't underestimate them especially with Mourinho who hasn't lost a domestic league home game in 9 years.

It's funny that they have to face each other in the Supercopa de Espana, because even if Barca win the league and the Copa del Rey they still have to face the runner-up, which would obviously be Madrid.

The Supercopa is the game between the league winner and the Copa del Rey winner. So either one is going to be the champion of both or one. Even two or 3.

If that makes sense.

I didn't even think of that until you mentioned it. Thats crazy. And I was thinking we'd get a Spurs draw in the quarters too.
