Official Chicago Bears Off-Season Thread

Sad thing is.... Israel Idonije(sp) in a Lions uniform :smh:

Izzy was under appreciated, for sure. And it never seemed like it would take huge bucks to keep him in the fold. They did the same thing with Alex Brown: under appreciated two SOLID D linemen because their sack numbers were never as high as they wanted from the position.

On the one hand, I don't blame then, but let's make sure we have someone just as solid to replace them before we consider them dispensable.

Bears | Brandon Marshall playing heavier

Fri, 02 Aug 2013 07:00:53 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he plans to play at 235 pounds, which is about 5 pounds heavier than he's accustomed to playing. Marshall said he added the weight to try to break tackles and improve his yard-per-catch ratio. "The thing that separates me, the thing that I can be the best at is breaking tackles and getting upfield," Marshall said. "So I'm focused on getting stronger, especially my hip, my waist down area and maybe playing with a few extra pounds. I played since my freshman year in college at 230. This year I'm going to play at 235. I'm lean like I was in college at about 6.3 percent body fat, ready to rock and roll."

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be taken as a grain of salt. Adding weight, whether it's bulk or not, restricts flexibility and could reduce his breakaway speed. He's already dealing with a hip problem, and the added weight to the lower body can just put more torque on his body - not to mention the potential speed reduction could lead to more hits. Five pounds isn't a lot, and probably won't make a big difference. However, the difference in separating from a defender is miniscule as well. We aren't saying you should avoid Marshall or he isn't worth being a No. 1 fantasy receiver. We are simply saying, if you own him, monitor him. He could have a career season and make this a moot point. Or...

Yea man.... probably a career ender. ESP at his age.

Side Note: Pops sent me a text this morning talking about he heard on a sports radio station that Hester was traded to the Eagles.....

Im not in Chicago so idk... but Im not finding anything on any websites, forums or the official nfl and bears site. Anyone hear anything on this shit???

Probably fake but I wouldn't be shocked if he did get traded

Cutty a pick on the first play :smh:

COT DAMMIT
You know I have been a CUTLER apologist for years but if he does this shit
this season, It will be his last year in a BEARS uniform.
No fucking contract extension. No more excuses.
That shit is ridiculous, protect them DAM ball.:angry:

And you know whats really fucked up; he
is probably the best talented QB the Bears franchise ever had.

The Bears carousal of QBs before Cutler was the worst like the Browns
in the past decade.

OL look decent so far. but expect mistakes early on. theres a lot of NEW THINGS going on. especially on offense. after a few full games in..i think theyll get it together. Its kinda fucked up Cutler contract wil depend on this season. You got to learn a new system and play for a contract all in the same year.

Edit:

Bostic
Welcome to NFL

 Hell yea Bostic...Im impressed

Man fuck it, He needs the pressure. He needs to play for his contract. he needs to improve on protecting the fucking ball. I am optimistic that he can have a record career this season, which isnt saying much the BEARS are the only franchise in which a QB hasn't passed for over 4,000 passing yards and have thrown over 30 TDs in a season
:smh:

Its nice to see OT, Webb is normal form with
his matador blocking, OLA OLE' :smh:

I am liking the defense though:yes:

Bostic looks nice.....

Like you said though, Webb is in mid-season form.....Jesus Christ :smh:

And Grossm.....uhhh.....Cutler?? Come on man really? :hmm:

Ive never been impressed with Armando Allen. And I was FURIOUS last year when the old guard would give him carries over Bush ..

Fuck a "scat back", Id rather have Ford win 3rd string RB..

I was WISHING we'da gotten Kenyon Barner too :smh:

i know its only preseason but the 2nd and 3rd stringers
look lethargic on both sides of the ball.

Coach Lovie may be gone but the base Cover-2 defense still here
I am still worried about the depth of our defensive line,
after Peppers and Melton Bears lacking talent.

I like Bostic though, he covered the field well when he played.

Josh McCown backup to Cutler, oh boy :smh:

Kahlil Bell was far superior to Allen; after that dust up over him not taking that reduced salary last year, getting cut, then getting resigned is that why they've left him on the shelf this year?

Maybe. The details surrounding that whole episode were strange. All I know is we can do better than AA 3rd string. They shoulda drafted a change of pace back if they wanted one. That dude aint the answer. He didnt do shit in college at ND...fuck that guy.

its only preseason so I aint even tripping
cutler threw an INT; however, if Cutler does
get injured Mcnown and Blanchard are the backups? wtf?

The marsh-mellow Offensive lineman
gave up 7 sacks, couldnt push the panthers def. line
and no running game.

I like some of the WRs, getting separation and running routes
effectively

Defensive line didnt get enough pressure
on panthers O-Line. The LBs looked decent though,
the secondary could ve had 3 INTs, a lot of dropped passes
overall, not bad

Lets see if there will be any improvements
in the rest of the pre-season
I am still optimistic of having a good season though

DA BEARS

Overall.....

It was a good game. I enjoyed seeing the skeleton package they came out with for the offense. I see what they are trying to do and I think it will work out well. That pick wasnt on Cutler.... that was all Alshon. I just hope Jay doesn't get frustrated if this happens again during the season and starts playing catch with BMarsh again.

Weakness on offense: Offensive Line... although the starters didnt look too bad. TIGHT END!!! That african cat stayed fuckin up... but he will get better with more experience.

Defense: Dline is thin and gives up too much ground. They got crushed on simple ass Draw plays all game. That and the fact that the QB can throw an easy 12-15 yard pass b/w the LB and secondary vexes me. Having said that, there were a lot of turnover opportunities.

Strengths:

Michael Ford and Marquess Wilson look solid. But again, thats against the back ups so we will see. Everyone already talked about Bostic... he looked good. Khaseem Greene looked damn good too. I dont think we will miss Urlacher that much.

A lot to fix but a solid start

Ill be looking forward to the next game... lets see how much adjustments are made by Trestman when he has his first game film of his team to break down

Yah....
Stil got flaws...but everything is a work in progress @ this point.
I still see us having 4-5 wins before the bye...like seriously.

Trestman said Cutler is playing at LEAST the first quarter.... and BMarsh is starting too..

Lets see what happens

Left side of the line is gettin shitted on already....and Why does it seem like everything is a long ass drop back?

ALREADY..... looking like a rough season for us already... damn shame :smh:

I know its preseason,, but I havent been impressed so far with Bushrod/Slauson...I know they need to develop chemistry, but damn...

And Forte needs to hit the damn hole

nice looking 2nd drive
B.Marshall is a beast a TRU NFL caliber WR
I hope Alshon takes note
