The alts are way out of sync with btc right now. BTC has gone up 2k in the last two weeks whereas the alts are still relatively stagnant. I guess this is in anticipation of good news in August? (CBOE).

Yeah about, Remember when BTC was 20k last December the ALTS went CRAZY in January

Can someone point me to some good crypto conversion sources? I am part of a few Facebook groups, and these people seem to be making shit up every week. Then they adjust the previous statements to fit the new price swings. All you need is a desk, a white board with trend graph, and finally a vague foreign accent - *POOF* - crypto expert.

Who here has cashed out XRP? What was your process and how did it go? How long did it take?

I see theory a lot from looking around online. Looking for someone who has actually gone through with it. Thanks to any that can contribute.

Best Crypto expert is a YouTuber named Knockout Crypto.

I'd recommend using Uphold to buy and sell XRP. If someone is interested in buying XRP, Dash, BAT, ETH,BCH and BTC, Uphold allows you to do so without using a crypto as a base.

I recently sold some of my holding and saw the funds in my account in two or three days. Of course this was over the weekend so I'm not sure if two to three days is the norm or could it reach your account faster.

It's been a few months since I signed up but I believe so. Uphold is a currency and metal exchange; not just crypto.

If you are using fiat to buy crypto, most sites in the US will require some form of that moving forward.

That being said most of my holdings are still in XRP and I'd prefer not to convert it to bitcoin or ETH before I get my USD.

I bought my bitcoin a year ago and then diversified - I own about 15 coins now. My investment would be worth more if I had just left it all in bitcoin. I have some cash to invest now but not sure where to put it so I'm looking for some advice. How are you guys making money on crypto in the short term? Are you day trading? Any good auto-trading bots? How do you know what ICOs to invest in, and when to get out? Thanks in advance.

w/ the exception of one project I’m heavily invested in...I’ve put everything else in bitcoin and am now just waiting for the CBOE ETF approval...it could come as early as next fri. or as late as march 4th next year...I don’t think anything will go on a major run until the ETF approval and even then that bodes well primarily for BTC...there is no guarantee it will bleed back into alts as has been the case in the past

Are you in the states? ICO's are usually a no no because of the feds putting the clamp on them. As a result, ICO's usually won't allow American investors.

that’s always been the case lol...cats have just done an incredible job of doing their best to research/keep up with news and figure shit out to anticipate what’s going to happen in order to get ahead of the crowd...the next major thing that’s likely to happen that will impact the market is the approval of the CBOE bitcoin ETF...does anyone know this for a fact? no...but from reading articles...paying attention to the news etc....it’s what will most likely happen next

Yes, I believe that Bitcoin will flourish when all else fail because it doesn't seem practical that 1500 new currencies will survive and thrive....

That was smart. A few months ago I posted about the research of old money dumping to new and the massive manipulation. As we can see clearly now, old money keeps pumping faking an taking alt profit through BTC.

BTC is the play. I don't even think we need any more evidence of folks taking profits through BTC.

Yeah, I think we talked about this months ago. I wanted to wait until August, that was my plan. But everything I witnessed supported the bag-dumping research. Dumped a few pump fakes back and only have 'lotto tickets' in some alts at this point. Also lucky I followed my instincts back in the spring. Save myself a ton of money. ICON was over $4 back then, now they bled it to 90 cents taking profits.

For those of you that use your mobile number for 2 step authentication heed this warning.

It has been reported that on the 12th of July, Californian police arrested a college student accused of being part of a group of criminals responsible for the theft of more than $5 million in cryptocurrencies.

Mr. Ortiz was reportedly arrested at Los Angeles International Airport whilst on his way to Europe donning a Gucci bag presumed to have been paid for with stolen money. The 20-year-old now faces 28 charges, including 13 counts of hacking, 13 counts of identity theft, and 2 counts of grand theft.

Ortiz is currently in jail awaiting his plea hearing on August 9th. His bail was set at $1 million.

Motherboard has claimed that the case comprises the first reported instance in which the increasingly prevalent technique of “SIM jacking” has been used to steal virtual currency.

According to the publication, “SIM swapping consists of tricking a provider like AT&T or T-Mobile into transferring the target’s phone number to a SIM card controlled by the criminal. Once they get the phone number, fraudsters can leverage it to reset the victims’ passwords and break into their online accounts (cryptocurrency accounts are common targets.) In some cases, this works even if the accounts are protected by two-factor authentication.”

Several of Mr. Ortiz and his yet-to-be-identified accomplices’ victims included attendees of the Consensus conference in New York City in May. One conference attendee who wishes to remain anonymous lost more than $1.5 million from one individual – nearly $1 million of which had been raised through initial coin offering.

“I looked at my phone and it was dead,” the individual told Motherboard. “We were having a meeting and all of a sudden he says ‘Fuck my phone just stopped working.'” The individual added that his friend later texted him: “My fucking SIM got hacked.”

Motherboard reported that “According to court documents, Ortiz took control of the entrepreneur’s cell phone number, reset his Gmail password and then gained access to his cryptocurrency accounts. The entrepreneur ran to the AT&T store to get his number back, but it was too late.”
