Alright, after reading the whole thread and doing a little outside research, I've entered the game.

I went with the more instant, more simplistic method of buying BTC off Coinbase and sending it to Poloniex and converting it to Ripple.

I only did 20 dollars to test the waters which ended up being almost 3,000 XRP.

I'll be adding more every week starting next week, and I'm also going to buy some Ethereum.

Now all I need is an offline wallet. Rippex was asking me for a CPF, I don't know what that is.

I forgot the source, but I heard that storing on an SD card is safer than a USB thumb drive. I believe it has something to do with being less corruptible.

Just thought about it but will look into nonetheless.

cool...then check out the lawnmower app as well...not sure if it offers alerts/notifications (literally just started messing w/ it) but you can check the value of the currency...what I really like about it tho is it gives you current/developing news on XRT ETH XRP etc...to me that's more useful than racking my nerves just watching that shit rise/fall by 0.0001 every sec
 
Heads up to anyone using Minergate. Mine XMR. 1 XMR equals to about 1800 XRP. I got a $8 VPS from greencloudvps. I mined about 233 BCN and transferred to Poloniex. Now I'm just going to mine XMR 24-7. My XMR shares are gaining as I type this shit.

Yeah just goto greencloudvps.com and at the top they'll show which services they offer. They'll all vary from hd size, ram, and cpu n shit. The cheapest is the $8 service. I'm just using it to run the minergate software. Pick one and then once you did all that, they'll send you all credentials to login to them through your remote server.

will check it out. got a few of each. was thinking about both removable media and also encrypting an .iso then emailing that to myself.

This doesn't mine ripple. It mines many other coins that you can deposit into Poloniex in exchange for ripples. My goal is to get free xmr and exchange it for ripple. Been running for a few hours and have 281 xmr so far. Still need a lot to equal one full xmr but this shit is worth it being that it will be running literally the whole day.

Damn that making an .iso sounds like a smart idea man. Definitely post that method once you got it figured out. Brothers trying to keeps all his paper.

right...so ultimately when all is said and done how many ripple do you think it'll amount to on average per day? I think earlier up you said 1 XMR = 1800 ripples so the 281 you've mined in a few hours...will that convert to 505,800 ripples? just making sure the #s are clear cuz if that's the case then I'm def gonna do that shit

My fault. I thought I didn't answer your question originally.

So the amount mines I believe is dependent on how many cpu cores that are being used. Basically more cpus up to 4 at one time equals faster mining I believe. So right now I'm at 348 XMR using one core via the VPS. So... I think I personally could reach between 800-1000 by the end of the night. Pure assumption with no mathematical break down as far as XMR per hour. It looks like that off the top though. 4 cores I would assume a faster gain.

To clarify about the xmr that I have. It is very small amounts of them that will equal 1 FULL xmr eventually.

Just like bitcoin where you can have a fraction of 1 coin. My bad... neeega is tyred.

It's going to take ALOT of FREE xmr to equal one full XMR coin which converts to 1800 ripples.

ok...I think I'm starting to get it...guess I'll have to look into it to understand how long it takes to get to 1 XMR...when you said you mined 348 XMR I thought that was the actual full count

found veracrypt does encrypted file volumes so didn't need to do an iso.

Installed the MicroSD card

Installed veracrypt

Read and followed the veracrypt Beginner's Tutorial to created an encrypted volume file

Current size of my wallet was 1KB, but i choose 4MB because of the minimum NTFS requirement and
I can email a file that size.

Continue the veracrypt beginner's tutorial regarding creating a password and formatting the volume.

Mount your newly created volume. Remember the drive letter used.

In Ripple Desktop Wallet > Cold Wallet Settings you can pick the veracrypt volume as the
location to save your transactions.

I copied my wallet file to the veracrypt volume.

After closing Ripple Desktop Wallet I unmounted the volume, copied it to the MicroSD card
and also emailed a copy to myself.

I'm assuming any wallet file you have can also be backed up to a veracrypt volume for offline storage.

Why not just use Bitlocker? Encrypt your laptop hard drive while your at it.

How do ya'll download rippex when the language is in Portuguese? i know you have to translate it to English but when i try to put my info in, I can't because the State field is full of Braillian states instead of U.S.

Was my issue as well. Trying to find another option where the language is English for a desktop offline wallet

Once you downloaded and unzipped the Wallet...Click on the exe to install

Go to https://changelly.com/ Make an account

Purchase $50 of XRP direct it to your Desktop Wallet's address

You may need to call your bank to allow a purchase from site

Also after install it says i have to be online to see this screen???? I thought the whole thing was its an offline wallet?

Also do i have to make a rippex account to link the wallet to it? Kinda stuck

Go to settings and choose online
and yes you can. You have a unique address...that's where you send XRP to
