I liked the ending. BCS was always more of a cerebral character study than a gangsta story.
Horrible ending. Saul deserved way better. So did Jeff.
For the first 15 minutes I probably scared the crap out of my roommates by yelling out "Yeah, go Saul". Now I'm walking out the house shaking my head like "I waited 6 years for THAT?"
I may have to rethink this decision, but right now my mindset is completely done with this whole universe and anything else that Vince Gilligan makes.
It was like watching that Disney cartoon where Mickey Mouse slits his own throat.

Damn. I was rooting for Saul, to get away with the bullshit. But I guess he finally owned up to it. I actually like the finale.

The season really ended with the death of Lalo and the murder of Howard fallout. There was no more cartel and very little drama left about what happened to Kim and Jimmy
everything afterwards was just an extended epilogue
I appreciated Saul, I mean Jimmy, finally coming clean to clear his conscience and more importantly protect Kim
I really enjoyed their last moments sharing the cig, as they’ve done countless times, and their silent understanding and the finger guns
it was also cool seeing the returns/goodbyes to Walt and Mike (never liked hanks wife). Didn’t mind the Chuck cameo but when they were at their best and loved each the most, there was an insurmountable gulf between them
only Jimmy would clean his conscience at the wrong time flipping 7 years to 80 plus

Agreed. If anyone was expecting a "holy shit" moment or shocking end, they would have disappointed.
I knew in the last episode that Saul would have to atone for his past in some fashion. Whether it was prison or death.
I was surprised that he decided on his own to confess everything and take the 86 year bid.
That 7-year plea deal seemed a bit unrealistic though. That was my only gripe.
Overall, it was a great show. Possibly the greatest show of all time.
What do you mean who finished the lab, you never watched from the start when Mike had the foreign guys building it? They were living in a warehouse, was transported night and day back and forth to the laundromat. Never got to go outside or see where they were.

Yeah it did. But that ending was still bullshit.
You have a guy that masterfully stands up against the system with all its pretty tyrants with imaginary authority. Then he throws it all away by caving and crumbling to it. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
When Walt knew his time was up he spent his final days taking revenge on his enemies and taking care of his loved ones. Saul didn't even do that!
It's also sad that a series known for its legendary musical choices didn't end with a single noteworthy song in the soundtrack.
It seems like Vince Gilligan is tired of this universe so he created a terrible ending to make sure he's never have to work in it ever again.
I'm a bit disappointed in the finale. Gene going full Saul was entertaining, but the reversal at the end just felt forced. No one takes life in supermax prison in exchange for a clean conscious. Kim was more or less in the clear so it just didn't ring true to me.
Walter White scene was good, Chuck's was decent but didn't add much value.
Maybe there will be a sequel series where Jimmy becomes a legenday Jailhouse Lawyer and starts getting people out on parole early.

They should have played this during the episode since they keep harping on going back in time and regrets
He wanted punish like Kim did to herself and show Kim that he had remorse too.
I guess he's just a sucker in the end. LOL
Kim won't do any time, meanwhile he gets life in prison.
my interpretation was that wanted to follow Kim’s lead come clean, protect her from potential civil suit and kill Saul/revert back to Jimmy. He started his confession as Saul but ended it calling himself Jimmy. He even admitted to his culpability in Chuck’s downfall which had nothing to do with the case.

Protect her from what though? She wasn't involved in the crimes he got life for. Already admitted her role in Howard's death. Still going to get sued all the way down to her grandkid's pension. All he did was waste her time and air miles.
You forgot about the exposure to a civil suit. This was specifically mentioned.

we’ll never know but it seemed like part of the reason Jimmy came clean was to put himself on the hot seat and remove Kim from the spotlight
but I always been team Jimmy so perhaps my interpretation is generous

Just watched the episode. I haven’t read thru the thread since my last post. I will after the finale.
They introduced Kim showing her current status in Florida living a miserable life. Gave some insight on her and Jimmy’s relationship. My theory of her and Jimmy having a kid was struck down.
We got a quick update on a number of characters who seem to have met their end by unknown ways.
The throwback of her in Albuquerque meeting Saul and handling the divorce was interesting. Along with her meeting Jesse which might be a setup for a future series. I have not watched the finale yet.
Seeing Jimmy get out of the house was funny. The show is good at delivering suspense. The explanation of the cops was funny.
They showed Marion and it looks like my theory of her being a criminal was shot down. But she confirmed she was up on Jimmy’s con in some way.

There were a lot of references in the episode that should've let us know how it would all end.
Alluding to time travel in flashbacks. Walt telling him to cut the bullshit and just talk about regrets, the exit sign in the courtroom (that was a throwback to when Saul destroyed Chuck in court) and Mike getting at him for only wanting to make more money instead of fixing his life.

mike killed the dude building the lab for making it hot by telling folks in the bar about it. the workers flew back home. after handling lalo, and gus meeting with the dons he told mike to find someone to finish it. they never showed who finished it.
i think the chuck scene showed how much he wanted to be accepted by his brother even the love of the time machine was due to jimmy looking up to chuck. and also remind us how chuck felt about jimmy. when told him he was picking up his food and newspaper and clothes was because he was his brother and chuck would do the same for him. the look on chuck face let us know chuck wouldn't .
Think so but they finished the build and then that gay idiot put the lab together then stepped in Mr White and Jesse

Very good series finale.
Bringing back old characters to give some insight on Jimmy’s behavior and how he came up with his final decision in the courtroom played out well.
When Jimmy was on the bus headed to prison, it started looking like his end would come in prison with mofos wanting revenge. When they recognized who he was, it showed he had street cred and built up a reputation in the underworld.
All those dudes on the bus most likely had friends, relatives or associates that had benefited from “Saul Goodman”.
Showing him in the prison kitchen walking out shows that even though it’s a tough prison, Jimmy has huge respect and nobody is fucking with him.
He redeemed himself with Kim obviously with her coming to see him. At first when they were talking I thought they were going to reveal some long con that would have put a whole spin on the series.
But it looks like it will end with Jimmy in prison and Kim going off with her drab, boring life in Florida.
The final shot showed it was not the end of Jimmy. His fast moving brain was highlighted when he was negotiating with the Feds and hustled his way to a 7 year sentence in a “ Country Club” prison in South Carolina with a golf course.
That brain of his and the time he has to think, good chance he will be walking out of that prison in 5 years or less on some technicality he thought of earlier and use later. And get back with Kim.
The producers have said they have no future plans for the character. But anything could change depending on Bob Odenkirks health and what ideas they have for future spin-off series. Jimmy mentioned Jesse and he was shown, the last we saw of him was in the Netflix movie “El Camino” driving off. There might be plans on his character.
Overall, I give this series a 8.5/10 and definitely holds up to “Breaking Bad” as its own.
