Report: Steelers Would Jump at Chance to Sign Baker Mayfield As Free Agent

The Steelers would “pounce” on an opportunity to sign Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield if he is cut by the Browns, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

During an appearance on the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Cabot reports the Browns weren’t getting too many calls from teams interested in trading for Mayfield as of Tuesday. If Cleveland was forced to cut Mayfield, the Steelers would jump at the chance of signing him as a free agent. The segment can be seen here at the 5:45 mark.

The Browns are looking for a first-round draft pick in a trade that would include Mayfield, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. But given the buyer’s market and the 49ers asking for two second-round picks for Jimmy Garoppolo, it will be difficult to get a team to bite for Cleveland’s price.

The starting job in Pittsburgh is wide open after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger this past season, but the team has no shortage of quarterbacks. Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins are all signed to the Steelers, but Mayfield would easily be the most experienced and successful signal-caller among them if signed. He’d be the favorite to start for a team that finished 9–7 in the 2021–22 season.

This dude is going to be a back up somewhere.
Or maybe a starter for the jets… yes everything about this guy says born to be a jets qb

more yrs of horrible awaits them
I could see Baker playing in the CFL lolz... following fellow Cleveland legend Johnny Manziel up north.

No one is going to want that head case.....

He would have a mental break down in New York because the New York media will eat him alive.
It’s the jets nobody give a fuck about the jets.. they the child in the attic.. they just there not trying to leave.. if we could export them for anybody else we would.. so if he’s sorry on the jets nobody would notice.. the expectations are extra low..so when you expect nothing but the bottom of the barrel production any step forward is a positive..most people expect the jets to finish last in their division and probably at best win 5 games.. so if he win 7 and finished 3rd in the division he would be considered a winner by jets standard

:roflmao:... What's funnier about this post the giants and JETS over the last 5 seasons have the same amount of wins - 22... Imagine thinking your team is respectable when your 5yr total equals that of an Adam Gase led team and a team last year that played 7 rookies as starters... giants fans love to shit on cowboys fans yet they do the same - love to live off/brag about past success...

Noticed you shorten it to 5 seasons.. not 10 seasons or since the millennium cause it’s obvious who by far is the superior ny team.. whats funnier you fail to mention the 2 seasons where we had major injuries..like the 1 game we literally lost 4 wrs in 1 game..2 missed the rest of the season other 2 injured for multiple games..or you failed to mention barkley major injury a few yrs ago..or last season where barkley was out for damn near half the season and our qb missing the last 4 or 5 games.. did you really try to compare a team that’s been injured filled to a team that just naturally sucks? Who the fuck actually defends the jets? Who actually is a proud jet fan..jets by the far are the worst ny sports team

In my 41 yrs of life I can say this..I’m not even a ny team sports fan overall( other than the giants) but I can say this.. I seen the giants win 4 Super Bowls, the Yankees win multiple World Series, the Mets winning a World Series, the rangers winning a Stanley cup, the bills going to the Super Bowl 4 yrs in a row, the Knicks making it to the nba finals twice.. guess who i never seen play in a championship game the wack ass jets.. 41 fucking yrs and them bum ass nigs haven’t touched a single superbowl once.. this nig had the nerve to try to defend these bum ass nigs.. jets hands down the wackest ny franchise since 1980 pernt blank
