Official 2025 NFL Discussion!!!

FINAL DRAFT GRADE: B-

Pittsburgh Steelers (+6000)

  • 1 (20) Kenny Pickett (QB – Pittsburgh)
  • 2 (52) George Pickens (WR – Georgia)
  • 3 (84) DeMarvin Leal (DE – Texas A&M)
  • 4 (138) Calvin Austin III (WR – Memphis)
  • 6 (208) Connor Heyward (FB – Michigan State)
  • 7 (225) Mark Robinson (LB – Ole Miss)
  • 7 (241) Chris Oladokun (QB – South Dakota State)
Whether Kenny Pickett turns out to be a top-tier NFL quarterback or not does not impact this grade. He was clearly a massive notch above every quarterback in this class, and Pittsburgh had to execute zero trades to acquire him.

It’s always going to be +EV to invest the 20th overall pick in an NFL-ready starting quarterback.

I also love that Pittsburgh paired Pickett with two WRs in George Pickens and Calvin Austin III. Pickens is super talented and likely fell due to character/maturity issues. Austin is a speed demon who can take advantage of Pickett’s deep ball.

Leal was an interesting pick. Pittsburgh’s run defense was atrocious last season, but Leal hardly profiles as a run-stuffer. At 6-4 and 283 pounds, he isn’t your prototypical defensive lineman. Leal’s tweener size makes him too small to be used strictly in the interior and too big to be a strict edge defender. His addition doesn’t aid in run defense.

My major complaint is that Pittsburgh didn’t address OL at all. It’s par for the course with the Steelers never investing draft capital in the offensive line, but with a rookie QB under center, it should have been more at the forefront of their draft strategy.

Still, snagging the only Day 1-ready quarterback in the draft without paying up boosts their overall grade.

@meilmarc -- You might think I'm crazy but Kyle Philips might end up being my favorite pick of this entire draft. I've been watching the tape on dude and he is EXACTLY what we have been missing since Adam Humphries left. Just look at dudes feet .... This is the exact type of slot guy that we need, because the way we play we need a quick option type dude to make that 3rd and 4 or 3rd and 5 ... You put him at the Slot and NWI at the 4 ...... :heartbeat: with Austin Hooper at TE1.

Look at that Stop and Go ability ....

HERE'S A LITTLE SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE TO CHEW ON WHEN IT COMES TO THE MEDIA GIVING OUT DRAFT GRADES AND THEIR ANALYSIS OF EACH TEAMS DRAFT CLASS:

Reminder: here's what Vito Stellino wrote in the P-G right after the Steelers' 1974 draft: "The Steelers seem to have come out of the first five rounds of the draft appreciably strengthened at wide receiver but nowhere else. They didn't get a tight end. They didn't get a punter. They didn't get an offensive tackle who might've shored up what could well become a weakness. What they did get was Swann, who seems to be a sure-pop to help; Lambert, who figures to be the No. 5 linebacker if he pans out; and three question marks." Five Hall of Famers that year. You just never know folks.

I never give too shits about Draft grades

New York Giants
In terms of adding top-end talent, it's hard to beat what the New York Giants did on Day 1.
Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal were Nos. 1 and 2 on the final B/R big board, respectively. New Giants general manager Joe Schoen managed to get both with his pair of top-seven picks.

However, it got harder to love what the Giants did on Day 2.

Kentucky wideout Wan'Dale Robinson is a unique prospect with a small frame, and he's a slippery runner after the catch. But he's a discount Kadarius Toney for a team that already has Toney on the roster.

Joshua Ezeudu made sense in the third round as a versatile lineman who should compete to play guard sooner rather than later. Depth is vital on the offensive line to survive the rigors of the 17-game season.

Darrian Beavers is an intriguing Day 3 pick. He was No. 58 on B/R's big board and was one of the most agile linebackers at the combine. Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale will figure out how to make him an asset.

Grade: A-

Like I said beavers is gonna be the sleeper pick and him and Kayvon gonna be hell of a 1/2 punch at linebacker… they can say whatever they want but wandale gonna be dangerous..if he was on the chiefs, rams, or packers you would see how dangerous his talents would really be… BElton and flott might definitely be a surprise on defense at corner and safety..especially belton… I still wish we had gotten Aqeel glass

Yep.

We need a burner at WR also though.

I'm just ready for Willis to be coached up for 2023, so we can take advantage of a Qb on a rookie contract plus the cap jumps from the league tv deals

A+ Beavers is slick at the Mike position. Better version of Zaven Collins to me.

Definitely agree about the Burner...

I do think that in this system.... chigoziem okonkwo is going to be about as close as we are going to get. I'm also excited about him. He needs to put on some weight and thicken up his lower half... but man when he does..... :heartbeat:

Look at those wheels .... everybody talks about Jonnu, but I would love for him to follow the Delanie Walker way...

Delanie Built himself into a complete Tightend and Jonnu had great after catch ability but he wasn't close to complete.

yo I went to the NFL shop to buy a Kayvon Thibodeaux jersey and the price is 129.99?? How long have they been that expensive?

Kyle Pitts' & Drake London's jerseys are the same price. Shit, Prime's Falcons jersey is 159.99!

Been a hot minute. Plus I'd wait till he has an official number 1st before copping his jersey

I don't buy jerseys anymore but if I did, I'd only buy retired player joints or players who are damn near franchise players.

Lolz Isaiah McKenzie just switched from 19 to #6. I'd be pissed if I bought a #19 jersey last season.

Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill sought therapy after playoff loss, says it's not his job to mentor rookie Malik Willis

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans are well aware of how much of an opportunity they cost themselves in their 19-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. Having thrown three interceptions in that game, Ryan Tannehill might have felt it the most.
"It's a deep scar," Tannehill said of the loss. "Every time I closed my eyes I kind of rewatched the game. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep for weeks. I was in a dark place, and it took me a while, a lot of work to get out of it.

"I've worked through it, but therapy, talking to people, time helped. It took a lot of work to get through it."
Tannehill said he had a lot of therapy sessions and is now able to look back on the game and learn from it while moving on. The veteran quarterback had been going to therapy for a little while, but the sting from the playoff loss brought a new level of pain.

"This is the first time that I absolutely needed it [therapy] to pull me out of a dark space," Tannehill said.

Tannehill said that the loss is a scar he'll carry with him for the rest of his life but that it can serve as fuel for him to work hard to get ready for the 2022 season with a "desire to win like he never had before."

Being back at the Titans' facility working with his teammates has helped Tannehill shift his focus away from the abrupt ending to the 2021 season. He'll also soon have a new quarterback he will be working with.

The Titans' rookies haven't reported yet, but when they do, quarterback Malik Willis, a third-round pick in last week's draft, will be among those first-year players.

Tannehill said the Titans didn't notify him that they were selecting Willis with the No. 86 pick, although he said he texted Willis soon after the team made the selection. The veteran quarterback said he understands how the league works and welcomes the competition.
"I don't think it's my job to mentor him. But if he learns from me along the way, that's a great thing."

"I don't think it's my job to mentor him," Tannehill said. "But if he learns from me along the way, that's a great thing."

Tuesday also marked Tannehill's first chance to publicly react to the Titans' draft-night trade that sent his No. 1 wide receiver, A.J. Brown, to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Titans used the first-round pick they received in the trade to select rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks.

"I was shocked. When I first found out, I'm like, 'This isn't real, this isn't happening, it's a rumor,'" Tannehill said of the Brown trade. "And then, I talked to A.J. and found out it was real. I slept terrible that night and kept thinking it was just a bad dream, but that's where we're at."

Tannehill wasn't in attendance for the voluntary portion of offseason team activities because he needed to finish a renovation at his home in Florida and wanted to spend a little extra time with his family. Select Titans receivers, however, went to South Florida to work out with Tannehill during the offseason.
