}~~~> Official 2024/2025 NBA Thread<~~~{ the playoffs are here!!!

There are like 450 spots— are there 400 players better than Westbrook?

I’m sure there’s a spot for him to contribute but nobody is building their offseason plans around him so the speculation is just clickbait.
He should retire or just do what haslem did on the heat to be a player coach on the bench.

Why would any team want westbrick. Dude should no longer be on the court at this point in his career.

Jawn, you saw me in this thread going to bat for Westbrook all season but I just can’t believe how this nigga helped flip that game 7 upside down like that. He played like he thought he was back with the Thunder. I have no words. :smh:

Salute to his contributions throughout the season but that was fucking awful. And the coach let him rock. That was dumb

You guys don't have the assets to get the Bucks to trade with you. What are you going to offer? Podz and Hield? lol.

Podz, Kuminga sign and trade and picks?

Warriors have been a potential lottery team for the last three years, these late career Steph picks and potentially post-Steph picks could be very valuable. (Though as I’m typing I realize that’s less true with Giannis on the team.)

Rockets can offer Sengun, Cam Whitmore and picks.

I hope Giannis has preferences that the Bucks respect! Can’t argue that Houston doesn’t have more assets.
It won’t matter about assets; the main thing that will matter it what Giannis preference is. It doesn’t matter what the rockets can offer. If he doesn’t want to go there he ain’t going there. I don’t believe he will end up at GS regardless of his admiration for Steph. But if he wants to go to GS; he will get traded there regardless of assets…

Westbrook, needs to just ride the bench, he's not the same player anymore. He should do the right thing by retiring if his ego doesn't get the best of him. Put ya pride to the side and look in the mirror to realize that it's time to hang them sneakers up.

If you thought the Milwaukee Bucks front office would simply roll over and kowtow to the first asset-rich team calling about a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, think again. This isn't Pat Riley getting robbed for Jimmy Butler.

According to The Athletic NBA insider Sam Amick, Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst is prepared to “go for blood” in any trade scenario involving their franchise superstar. This isn’t going to be a graceful, loyalty-driven parting of ways. If Giannis wants out, Horst is going to make sure the Bucks are the ones walking away with the bigger piece of the pie.

“Jon is not going to just try to be on good terms with Giannis—he’s trying to do right by the Bucks,” Amick said.

“And that means that if every scenario in play leaves the other team so gutted that Giannis might not actually be in that much better of a situation, then maybe that’s where he looks at the room and says, ‘All right, let me stay put.’”

Translation: This won’t be a discount. If worst comes to worst, Jon Horst's main priority will be winning the breakup with Giannis Antetokounmpo and making sure the Milwaukee Bucks are better for it. With his new contract kicking in, you can be sure of that.

It’ll be a complete shakedown, plain and simple.

Jon Horst's new contract signals trust from upper management

For the first time in his career, Giannis may be open to the idea of leaving. That alone has triggered trade rumors and fantasy packages across the league. But unlike past stars who forced their way out like Damian Lillard, James Harden and even Anthony Davis, Giannis hasn’t drawn a line in the sand. Yet.

That ambiguity gives the Milwaukee Bucks leverage. They’re not operating from desperation. They’re operating on power. Horst just got a new contract. He has full ownership support. And he’s reportedly prepared to suffocate other teams in negotiations.

What does “going for blood” look like? It means deals that look unfair on paper but make all the sense in the world for the Bucks, who will look to jumpstart their inevitable rebuild in that scenario. Think multiple unprotected picks. A blue-chip rookie and another starter. Zero salary dumps or goodwill gestures. Heck, even possibly a pick swap or two, for insurance to sweeten the deal.

Horst’s stance isn’t just about asset collection. It’s more tactical and methodical. If he makes every team in the league look at their depleted post-Giannis roster and wonder if they're really better than Milwaukee now, then he wins. That hesitation alone could keep Giannis in Cream City.

What Amick is describing is more than ruthless negotiation. It’s psychological warfare.

If the Bucks can make every potential Giannis destination feel less promising than staying in Milwaukee, then Horst might not need to trade him at all. Just the threat of a gut-punch rebuild could push Giannis back to the table — not to demand a trade, but to re-up with the Milwaukee Bucks.

And if he does leave? Milwaukee ensures it comes out with the kind of return that keeps them in the playoff mix (or at the very least ready to jump into their newest chapter) instead of tumbling into mediocrity.

Bucks fans should take comfort. This isn’t going to be another soft landing for a departing star. There’s no “thank you for your service” discount. There’s no “doing right by Giannis” at the expense of the franchise.

Jon Horst has the hammer — and he’s not afraid to swing it. If a team wants Giannis, they’d better be ready to bleed.

Fans say it every offseason, but perhaps now is as good a time as any to remind us all: let Horst cook.

lol @ Warriors fans thinking the Bucks will trade Giannis for a second round pick to do him and them a favor.
I don’t think Giannis is going to GS. But you are a fool if you think the bucks will trade Giannis to Houston because a good package or assets. You sound ridiculous. Giannis is going, if he leaves, to a place where he wants to go period! Just like AD; just like KD; just like Harden; just like any other superstar that has leverage…

I stopped at pat riley getting robbed
What teams were clamoring for Jimmy?

LMAO, he's under contract. What do you mean it doesn't matter what they want.

He either plays for them or he doesn't get paid. Point blank period. Hes go 3 years left on his deal. And if he doesn't play, that year doesn't count. So he would need to play 3 years before being a free agent.

Giannis literally has zero leverage. All he can do is start being an asshole. And if he starts being an asshole, they will definitely not send him where he wants to go.

He’s contract is up next year!!! Again Gianni’s has the leverage. It’s the same as AD! He forced his way to LA because he wouldn’t resign with anyone else. No team is going to pay an extreme package if Gianni’s doesn’t want to be there or want resign. Again you are being ridiculous or naive if you think the package will decide where he goes. He’s gonna decide where goes period…

I’m not dreaming about Gianni’s in any sense! Ive already stated I don’t think he will be traded. And I don’t think he will be traded to GS. If he is traded I think it will be the spurs who get him. But again wherever he is traded; it won’t be the front office decision nor will it be who has the best package. It will be where he wants to go; and you can book that…
