You're exaggerating this. He didn't get stepped ON.... unless you definition of being stepped on means light contact in the front of your shoe
I think what happened was this:
Robben made a great move but he lead the ball out too far... and he's played enough to instantly know that...and the defender put his foot out there at just the perfect time... the contact was SO light that Robben probably didn't even feel it at all..but it was close enough for him to Flop... and flopping probably gave him a better chance than trying to recover. He's done this countless times and he put pressure on the ref and won this time.
That shouldn't have been a penalty. That was a crafty play by a vet.
Too far? His first touch was perfect. 4 defenders going in one direction, while the ball and Robben are going the other.
I've been stepped on countless times and it does not take much to throw you off balance. Again, i'm not condoning dude's theatrics... that is what it is, but he wasn't allowed a chance to get the ball.
For example, had the ball went out of play in the other direction, we wouldn't be talking about this because he didn't have a chance to get the ball.
But that's not what happened...
