camby cancelled on the heat so i doubt that is the reason

Cole is young and has upside. He can benefit from a full training camp and a season. He gave them good spot minutes in the playoffs.

Na they need to keep Cole imo

What's Lucas skill set like? I know he torch the Heat one game, but that's all i know?

Dwight Howard Update: Four Team Team Involving 14 Players

Earl Monday morning, it was reported the Orlando Magic, Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers were close to completing a three-way trade that would send Dwight Howard to Brooklyn.

Although the reports of a deal may have been a little premature (both Adrian Wojnarowski and Peter Vecsey sadi a deal wasn’t nearly as close to completion as originally reported), the teams continue to talk).

Wojnarowksi is now reporting, the teams are trying to get a fourth team involved to take back MarShon Brooks and add more pieces to the deal for Orlando. Wojnarowski, citing sources, says “Tentacles of Nets-Magic talks covering 14 players, 3 teams w/ possible 4th locking in to take MarShon Brooks to provide pick.”

Per Alex Kennedy of Hoops World, who appears to be all over this story, “Magic brass will meet at 9 a.m. to discuss if they should pull the trigger on the three-team deal with the Nets and Cavaliers.”

As a Bulls fan who saw Lucas play I will say that despite his small size and streaky shooting he is fearless and always competes. He is a change of pace player. A perfect 3rd string PG. Can be a backup for a stretch of games but he is a 3rd stringer. If he was at least 4 inches taller he would be real decent.

ok compared to Norris Cole. Just trying to see why would the Heat be interested in his services. I know a trade didnt happen because the Heat chose not to part ways with Cole and Anthony. Just wondering would this be the trade piece or would Cole leave now there's another PG on the roster.

This why that Allen signing was so huge.

Agent for Rashard Lewis says "everything went well" w/Heat, but process will continue this week before decision. Hawks, Knicks still in it.

One thing is guaranteed: Lopez will sign a max 5-year deal (75M) no matter where he winds up, Brooklyn or Orlando

After Games, Tyson Chandler will get serious about Knicks

LAS VEGAS -- More than two months later, losing in the first round of the playoffs still bothers Tyson Chandler. It can't be easy for him to see LeBron James' smiling face every day, either.

But the Knicks center is putting that frustration aside for now. Chandler's main concern is winning the gold medal in London this summer with James. After the Olympics, Chandler and Carmelo Anthony will turn their attention to trying to beat James and the Heat and getting the Knicks deeper into the postseason.

"Just being here and seeing all the players on this team who I got to compete with next year, these players are amazing," Chandler said after the U.S. team practiced Sunday. "It's motivation for myself. It's motivation for Carmelo when we get back to our team that we got to raise the stakes. Things have to become more important and things have to become more serious and we have to make a true run at it."

Chandler, who was acquired just before training camp, said last season was difficult because the Knicks struggled to develop chemistry because of the condensed season and limited practice schedule, a mid-March coaching change and injuries.

But after finishing seventh in the East and falling in five games to the eventual NBA champion Heat, the Knicks will have no excuses next season. They should have their team in place, a full training camp to learn Mike Woodson's system and a chance to establish much-needed chemistry.

"We're going to have time to get ourselves together," Anthony said. "We're going to have a training camp now. Just talking to guys, the focus that we have in the offseason is at an all-time high. Guys are ready. We look at last season, and that's going to be in the back of our minds."

The Knicks know they have to be a win-now team because of all the wear-and-tear on the bodies of Anthony, Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire. So this offseason, the Knicks have pursued many experienced veteran free agents.

They went hard after Steve Nash, ultimately ended up with Jason Kidd, and are trying to secure Marcus Camby. They also expressed interest in Ray Allen, who chose to join James in Miami.

The Knicks still are interested in two-way guard Randy Foye, but they might have to see how things pan out with Camby because the pieces they would use in a sign-and-trade for him might be some of the same in a potential Foye deal.

"I love to see the organization going after everybody that we can go after," Anthony said. "The ultimate goal is to try to win. We have to do what we have to do to try to win. They've been very aggressive this offseason thus far. Hopefully, we can continue to be very aggressive."

The Knicks haven't reached the conference semifinals since 2000, and before winning Game 4 against Miami this season, the Knicks had dropped an NBA-record 13 straight postseason games dating to 2001. That's why seeing James' smiling face can't be easy for Chandler.

"As soon as we take off the jersey after the last game and we get back to our teams, they become my competitors again," Chandler said. "Right now, I have the utmost respect and love for them because they're my teammates."

Fuck MSG

Tickets better not be high when the bulls play.

Ima either go uptown or BK when I'm in new York to see a bullshit game.

Although the Knicks struck out on Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony said they're being aggressive in free agency and likes what they're trying to do. "I love to see the organization going after everybody that we can go after," Anthony said. "The ultimate goal is to try to win. We have to do what we have to do to try to win. They've been very aggressive this offseason thus far. Hopefully, we can continue to be very aggressive."

Bryant Believes Westbrook Can Fill Void Left By Wade
Jul 09, 2012 10:34 AM EDT

Kobe Bryant believes Team USA’s rotation will be fine despite the absence of Dwyane Wade, who needs surgery on his ailing left knee.

"I think (Russell) Westbrook gets D-Wade's role for us," Bryant said, referring to Wade being the sixth man for the 2008 team. "He pushes the ball and gets to the rim and can defend all over the floor. One thing D-Wade did for us was extend possessions for us and create steals that resulted in a lot of easy run-out baskets for us. Russell's just as good at doing that."

Bryant is ready to go physically after the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs at the hands of Westbrook and the Thunder.

"It was a lack of execution, offensive execution," he said. "We didn't know what we wanted to do or how we wanted to do it. When we ran the triangle (offense under former coach Phil Jackson), we knew what we wanted to do. This time, we were constantly changing things and we never found the one thing we were truly good at.

"It'll get better. It has to. We'll figure it out this summer. We're playing for championships. It's championships or nothing

DeJuan Blair Expects Trade From Spurs
Jul 09, 2012 10:28 AM EDT

DeJuan Blair doesn’t expect to play a fourth season with the Spurs.

“I love the Spurs, but they’ve got a lot of ‘bigs,’ and they’re bringing somebody else from overseas, so where am I going to fall at?” Blair said. “I was out of the rotation at the end of the season, so imagine next year. That’s something I really don’t want to go through again, because it tore me down.”

Blair started 62 games during the regular season, but played sparingly during the playoffs.

“The Spurs are excellent,” Blair said. “They used me to get everybody going and just get to the playoffs. That’s what it’s seemed like the last two seasons. But it’s a business, and everybody has their role, and I played mine, obviously, in the season. That’s proved right now.

“We were No. 1 the last two seasons when I was starting, and then lost in the playoffs when I wasn’t. That’s just, well, I don’t know, common sense.”

Chris Paul Says He Will Play Out Season and Then Review His “Options”..Melo Smiles

The masterplan for the Knicks back in the day was to pair Chris Paul with Carmelo Anthony, once Lebron James took his talents to South Beach.

A lot of that plan fell apart, but now there is a some hope since CP3 says he is not going to sign any extension with the Clippers and will test free agency.

Knicks fans, you have received a glimmer of hope as Paul rejected an extension that would have kept him in Los Angeles for three more seasons.

“I know why I didn’t sign my extension,” Paul said on Sunday before the U.S. Olympic team practiced. “I’m going to play this season out and see what my options are.”

According to the Frank Isola of the NYDailyNews:

Paul wouldn’t entirely rule out ending up in a Knicks uniform and neither would Anthony, who smiled when asked about Paul’s future prospects.

Paul is in the exact same situation that Deron Williams was in.

He can make the most money by staying with the Clippers, but there is no guarantee that he will.

Chicago do you want this to happen

Brian T. Smith
Also in Utah With UFA forward C.J. Miles still on the market and the #NBA's free agency moratorium period about to end, here are two possible sign-and-trade scenarios that could come into play.
No. 1 - The Jazz sign Miles, then trade him to Chicago for shooting guard Rip Hamilton, who's set to make $5 million in 2012-13 and is under a $5 million team option in 2013-14.
Teaming Hamilton with Mo Williams and Gordon Hayward could give Utah a much-improved backcourt, while freeing up much-needed interior space for Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Al Jefferson and Enes Kanter.
Utah's long needed a true scoring threat at the 2, and a healthy Hamilton could be a major boost for the Jazz next season. He'd also prevent the small-market Jazz with the low-risk, high-reward scenario general manager Kevin O'Connor has often relied on during recent seasons.
No. 2 - Utah signs Miles, then trades him to Orlando in exchange for shooting guard Jason Richardson as part of a one-for-one deal or package trade.
Richardson is a proven scorer and would replace the athleticism lost in Miles' departure. He's under contract for two more seasons for a combined $12 million, though, and holds a 2014-15 player option worth $6.6 million.
Miles re-signing with the Jazz is a remote possibility, at best. By engaging in a sign-and-trade involving the 25-year-old small forward, Utah could instantly bolster its roster, rather than simply allowing Miles to walk away as an unrestricted free agent.
Several teams have expressed interest in signing Miles since free agency began July 1. The seven-year veteran is seeking a multiyear deal, and could soon reach an agreement with a Western Conference team as an unrestricted free agent.

Shandel Richardson
Also in Miami Heat Rashard Lewis is also expected to meet with the Atlanta Hawks sometimes this week. So it appears the indecisiveness isn't limited to players like Dwight Howard

Pacers RFA C Roy Hibbert In Portland To Sign Offer

Mike Wells of the Indianapolis Star reports on Twitter that Indiana Pacers restricted free agent center Roy Hibbert is in Portland in preparation for the end of the NBA's free agency moratorium, which will allow him to make official a 4-year, $58 million offer sheet agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers.
----------------------------------
Restricted free agent Roy Hibbert is already in Portland where he'll sign his offer sheet (4 yrs $58 mill) w them at 9 pm PST [Tuesday].
----------------------------------

The Pacers will then have three days to decide whether or not to match the offer.

Pacers president Donnie Walsh said last week that retaining Hibbert was the team's "first priority."

While Pacers coach Frank Vogel said before free agency opened that Hibbert "wasn't going anywhere" there are some who don't view the Pacers matching as a slam dunk.

It was reported last week that the Pacers would begin to investigate other potential options at center in case they didn't match on Hibbert and they met with New Orleans Hornets unrestricted free agent center Chris Kaman.

Blazers GM Neil Olshey made Hibbert his first stop of the 2012 Free Agency period. Hibbert was reportedly "blown away" by Portland's approach.

Hibbert, 25, just completed his fourth season with the Indiana Pacers, posting career-high averages of 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. He played in 65 of Indiana's 66 games last season.

Hibbert, listed at 7-foot-2 and 278 pounds, is generally regarded as a top-5 free agent in this year's class and the best available center.

Hornets to add Ryan Anderson

The New Orleans Hornets' frontcourt is taking shape.

Sources with knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com on Sunday that the Hornets and Orlando Magic reached agreement on a sign-and-trade deal that will send Magic forward Ryan Anderson to New Orleans to play alongside prized rookie Anthony Davis.

The Magic will receive young Hornets center Gustavo Ayon in the deal.

The Hornets were in talks to sign Anderson, a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet, but sources say that trade talks with the Magic have progressed quickly once Orlando officials decided they would not want to match an offer to Anderson.

NBA.com is reporting that Anderson will sign a four-year deal worth between $34-36 million.

The 6-foot-10 Anderson is entering his fifth NBA season out of California. He started 61 games for Orlando last season, averaging 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds.

Ayon, a 6-10 Mexico native, spent his rookie NBA campaign in New Orleans last season after playing professionally in Spain's top pro league. The 27-year-old Ayon started 24 games for the Hornets, averaging 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20.1 minutes per game.

As with all league business, Sunday's trade can't be consummated until Wednesday, which is the first day new NBA contracts can be signed for the 2012-13 season.

The trade for Anderson is not expected to preclude the Hornets from matching the four-year offer sheet worth nearly $60 million that the Phoenix Suns have agreed to give Hornets restricted free agent Eric Gordon.

The drafting of Davis and forthcoming arrival of Anderson all but guarantees that Hornets big men Chris Kaman and Carl Landry will be moving on to new teams as free agency continues to unfold.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Knicks Summer League roster notables: Douglas, Jordan, Josh Harrellson, Chris Smith (JR's brother), Jeremiah Rivers (Doc's son, Austin's older brother), Walker Russell Jr. (son of Knicks scout, played for Pistons last season), Mychal Thompson (son of former Laker, et al), Mustapha Farrakhan (grandson of Louis Farrakhan and Virginia standout who played in D-League last season).

I saw the list and thought this shit was worth a laugh. The knicks should take doc's older son just to fuck with him  or maybe grab a Farrakhan and have him guard Cassipi.

I thought Hibbert was averging more than 12 ppg I would have guess 15 ppg. Kaman can give the Pacers the same production minus the shot blocking. The pacers would be dumb to not match Hibbert's offer sheet.
