just remember this name Dolan

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA

No one in NY front office wants Shumpert in sign-and-trade for Nash, but some in league wonder: Would Dolan's lust for a star name overule?

Lord.... If we trade Shumpert, a home run pick at #17 for Steve Nash... I might just say fuck this team until Dolan sells.

For Melo I understand trading Gallo and Wilson... But for Nash to only give us 2 years?? Fuck no

If Shump is traded for Nash... I'm at a loss

I swear I'm having a Horrible Bosses moment in wanting to plot to have someone hired to off Dolan. That fucker stays destroying team progress with his no knowledge having aspirations. I swear I wish we had an owner like Cuban instead of this fucko

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA

On draft night in 2011, Phoenix was down to Markief Morris and Iman Shumpert. Suns picked Morris, but Shumpert had a lot of support in room.

Lakers Prepared To Offer Bynum, Peace For Howard
Jul 03, 2012 1:59 PM EDT

The Lakers are prepared to offer Andrew Bynum and Metta World Peace to the Magic in a trade for Dwight Howard, according to a source.

Los Angeles seeks an extension from Howard before agreeing to a trade.

Orlando wants to include Jason Richardson in any deal for Howard. Richardson, like Howard, is represented by Dan Fegan.

Warriors Not Planning On Going Over Luxury Tax

The Warriors are approximately $4 million away from paying the luxury tax, something they are conscious of as they explore free agents.

"You get in early to express interest, and if a contract fits within your parameters, you get in with a contract," GM Bob Myers said. "We're going to be diligent in the search for players, but we're not going to be aggressive as some of the teams you're seeing because we're up against it.

NBA Free Agent Rumors: Jeremy Lin Meeting With Houston Rockets Wednesday

by Mike Prada

The Houston Rockets, who are suddenly mired in a difficult negotiation for their own free-agent point guard, Goran Dragic, will reportedly explore a well-known alternative. The Rockets will spend their July 4 meeting with New York Knicks restricted free agent Jeremy Lin, according to a report from Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

It would seem unlikely that the Rockets could steal Lin away from the Knicks, but New York general manager Glen Grunewald has decided to let Lin explore his market instead of aggressively trying to keep him. The Knicks have been interested in Steve Nash and had been working on potential sign-and-trade arrangements to land him. That effort took a hit with the Raptors signing Landry Fields, a key cog in a potential sign-and-trade deal with the Suns, to an offer sheet.

While the Knicks would likely want to match Lin, the Rockets could make it difficult by giving Lin a poison pill contract that would cause his contract to escalate in the third year. The Rockets pulled a similar maneuver in giving Chicago Bulls center Omer Asik an offer sheet over the weekend.

Lakers Have 'Growing List Of Concerns' About Dealing For Howard
Jul 03, 2012 3:21 PM EDT

While the Lakers do appear to be in play for Dwight Howard, they also have a 'growing list of concerns' on actually acquiring him, according to a source.

Howard underwent season-ending back surgery on a bulging disk and it is unclear if he would actually sign a contract extension after privately saying he didn't want to play for the Lakers.

The Lakers also are uninterested in taking back additional salary in a trade for Howard.

The Celtics [team stats] may still have interest in re-signing Ray Allen, but they are on the verge of some interesting insurance at the shooting guard spot.

According to a source, the team has made great progress toward an agreement over the last hour in discussions with Jason Terry, the former Mavericks shooting guard and the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year during the 2008-09 season. Terry has been known over the years as a wiry defender and capable transition player. His spot-up style would work nicely with Rajon Rondo [stats]’s drive-and-dish game.

The contract would be the mid-level deal of $5 million for the first year.

But the source stressed that the Celtics remain interested in Allen, who has already talked with officials from Memphis and Minnesota this week, and plans to meet with Miami on Thursday and the Clippers on Friday.

The possible combination of Terry and Allen would give the Celtics a deadly mixture from downtown, though neither would likely start ahead of Avery Bradley.

There would also be the question of playing time. Allen, who looms as a likely starter for the Clippers, appears to want a more prominent role than the way Doc Rivers’ rotation may be unfolding.

Terry’s emergence as a Celtic also calls into question the team’s commitment to Mickael Pietrus, who is still waiting for a call from the team.

According to Pietrus’ agent, Bill McCandless, the tough-defending swingman has, in the meantime, been contacted by four other teams, including one with stronger interest than the others. Pietrus has talked directly with officials from two of those teams, including one coach.

A year ago, Terry averaged 15.1 points per game while shooting 43 percent for the field in 63 games for the Mavericks.

In his 13-year career, Terry is averaging 16.1 points and 4.7 assists per game. He is a career 44.8 percent shooter. He also shoots 85 percent from the line.
