Oden signs with Heat

They're gonna have to outfit him in a special bubble wrap uniform like the kid in the Kia commercial:

That favor the pacers also, Greg is known to foul.

Oden shot pretty well also, I think he's somewhere between the high 60's and low 70's

Exactly. And especially now. Not to mention the pick-and-roll hit. Ball movement hit. This isn't college. Play him lightly for the year then let him play extensive minutes vs Indy and see what happens. That'd be great.

His injury was bad, but he had ample time to heal, and at least he did not rush things back and from what I've read his knee should be stronger than it was before the injury.
People forget how good a healthy Oden is but for those who forgot, check the video...

Five years and three MICROFRACTURE KNEE SURGERIES......He would be lucky to be half the guy on that tape.....

Lucky he is in miami no pressure just be better than JOEL anthony and juwan howard.

I think miami playing bosh at 5 actually gives other teams problems and is an advantage.....playing a conventional 5 just doesnt fit miami style of play.

Kool...but now Miami has the ability to play bout styles...

if his knees holdup for a full season and he can be productive.....then the Heat will be giving teams fits.
but if he spends the majority of his time on the sideline in a suit, or goes down with another knee injury....at least the Heat wont have much to lose except the veterans minimum for him. at that price i can see why it was worth the risk.

I wonder whats the chances he was rushed back

let that dude be 80 percent of what he was in college and healthy and miami may have locked it up again ... no debating

edit ...

what am i talking about, he will be crying on the floor in pain by december... poor dude

:lol::lol: exactly WTF did this dude do in college?

all i remember is joakim noah and the florida gators running up and down the court on osu.

it very reasonable for folks to doubt him being healthy, but what if he's able to play key minutes during the second half of the season, then what?

with his health issues, he's gotta SHOW HE CAN STAY HEALTHY before you can have ANY confidence in him.

Rich get richer. :smh::lol:

I wouldnt play this muthafucker outside of garbage time until after Christmas. And then I would manage his minutes and put a 15minute cap until March. Then at 20minute until the playoffs.

He's only needed in the Indy series to keep Hibbert honest.

Good signing.

^^^ That's exactly why he's there :yes::yes::yes:

Don't know what you're talking about because we had D West guarding shooting guards vs. The Knicks and The Heat. And Birdman killed roaming the baseline. Haslem hitting baseline jumpers. What series were you watching?
Yea, you don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about. Other than maybe two games Haslim was absolute trash. He laid a flat out egg in one game, and had less than 6points is 3others. He was putrid. He had one fluke anomaly where he went 8for9 I believe. Otherwise he was a liability and had his minutes cut as a result.

With Oden on the floor, the Heat are going to take a hit in both transition defense and offense. And that offensive anchor is going to allow Hibbert to stay home more. He's also going to beat him down the floor constantly. You're bugging.
In what world do you live in that you envision Hibbert beating Oden down the floor and Oden being a net negative in transition while guarding Hibbert. Seriously, do you watch basketball? Who do you think Hibbert is?? Again sir, go look at Hibberts season averages against this series. His performance in this series and the matchup issues he presented were the ONLY reason for it going seven games. Fact.

Put it this way, I'll take my chances with Oden playing extensive minutes vs small ball. Tyson couldn't neutralize Hibbert, Oden ain't doing shit.:smh
What does Tyson have to do with Oden? Their games aren't remotely similar. And even if they were they play in two entirely different defensive schemes with entirely different surrounding parts. Again, you make no sense. You're blinded by fanboyism.

I don't see him contributing anymore than Ed Curry did that one year.

I think it's a good move...what does the Heat have to lose? If he doesn't work out, they don't lose much...Greg Oden is motivated, he's healthy (for now), and even a hurt Oden is better than any center they have on the bench...

...I had a feeling that the Heat were going to do something that would surprise everyone...

If so fuck Spo, he fucked up against Dallas, damn near fucked up against the Bulls, Pacers and Spurs with his coaching or lack of subbing players

most of that had to do with getting the ball in his hot spot...

Dude was money from one side of the court, the very next game you start him on the other side, he bricks two straight jumpers, later he takes one from his hot spot, hits it and he don't shoot again....

It's hard to explain that to me, from coaching on down to the other plAyers

getting Nate would've been tha shocker

I wonder whats the chances he was rushed back

Put it this way he was cleared to play last year but was put on hold and continued his therapy to ensure maximum healing... One thing I keep reading is that micro surgery has mad tremendous progress over the last few years, and many doctors say that his knee should be stronger than ever..

My bad I wasn't clear with that statement, I meant do yall think he was rushed back while in Portland?

The Oden move is a much bigger move, because not only does it give the Heat a big man, it also gives them a great re-bounder, this way LeBron don't have to be the best passer, scorer, playmaker, defender and rebounder... Yall worried about Oden getting injured, I think with this move it will protect LeBron from over extending himself and getting injured...
As I said before Kobe got injured, the number one thing that gets you fucked up in the NBA, is when you are forced to do too much.... Matter of fact, this may be one reason why Oden stayed fucked up in Portland... With the Heat, at least, all he has to do is play with in himself being a specialist who is there for defense vs a big guy, rebounding and some toughness... As long as he sticks to the script, his knees should hold up..

Yes, they felt they had a small window of opportunity won win with Oden and Roy, both was rushed back, similar to what happen to RG3 in Washington..

Road everything you said is correct, but this really ain't a shocker pickup...we've been chatting with Greg.

Too me, Nate would've been one of those I didn't see that coming additions...
Like "Where The Fuck Did That Come From"

He and Lebron use the same aging cream.

Young niggas with old faces arent marketable. and folks wonder why LBJ doesnt have the "MJ type" marketability. Appearance plays a role as well.

Btw....this is only a good singing for the Heat if the ninja can stay healthy and contribute. If you cant stay healthy...all that rebounding , holding down the paint etc etc is null and void. A la that new Nets team.....its basically a wait and see approach.

Anyone automatically assuming he's gonna be able to bang with them young boys in Indiana is fooling themselves.

On one hand I hope that he is able to come back and become an effective player. On the other hand he's with the Heat so I don't want him to do shit to help them. He better hope that the medical staff does a better staff with Oden's knees than they have with Wade's who is becoming less and less effective.
