This or videos similar to this one are all over the
breakfast news shows this morning.

The campaign has issued a statement to the effect that
Barack does not agree with everything Reverend Wright
says.

Who said Barack is Muslim?

Re: More Crap .... obama

Ok, it's out there now. Only thing to do now is to have that debate, if they want it. I'll be damn if Foxnews will dictate for me the terms under which we address this let alone how we should feel about bombing and killing millions of innocent people in the name of being a good American.
The timing might not be the best for a smooth glide path to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but it is what it is. We can't get side tracked because a pastor has a point of view not popular with Foxnews or CNN.

Fuck Fox and Oreilly. We got much more shit on Hillary. and plus what he was saying was true. and regardless of what a lot of White people want to believe, the US did bring 9/11 on themselves by laying in bed with the muthafucka that ordered it. Remember that Irag / Iran war? Bin Laden was a well funded ally. The US helped train the sons of bitches.

fuck outta here

Re: More Crap .... obama

I agree, its out there, lets deal with it.

Also, lets consider this: now is a good time for some on the far left, the radical thinkers, and those who believe in the various conspiracy theories, including 9-11, etc., to shut the fuck up! Now. Neither Hillary or the right wing press have been able to do any real damage to Barack, but those who might have some association, whether they realize it or not, is where shit has the potential of developing. Whats more important anyway? - a win with the concomitant hope and possibililty of positive change OR espousing get-even rhetoric that has the distinct possibility of sinking the ship ??? Which is more important ???

He shouldn't have responded to this nonsense. The cable news media don't have the right or muscle to make this an issue. At best FOX, CNN and MSNBC have a combined 8 million viewers and the ones who support Obama know this is bull. He should let his previous statements on this stand and move on.

If McCain doesnt have a problem with it... neither should I.

To me, this is one of the MAIN problems with people right now. There's a golden opportunity to make a change for the better, but the naiveness overshadows it..

Seems that most prefer to be in the shithole we're in..

A More Perfect Union; Obama Speech Addressed Rev Wrights Racist Comments

[3/18/08: Democratic Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday tried to stem damage from divisive comments delivered by his pastor, while bluntly addressing anger between blacks and whites in the most racially pointed speech yet of his presidential campaign.

"As imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me. He strengthened my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children. Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect. He contains within him the contradictions – the good and the bad – of the community that he has served diligently for so many years." /I]

There is nothing he can say that will change the people at FOX or hardcore bigots minds. Anyone with common sense know Rev Wright didn't mean what he said literally even if he did theres no way he could act on it. Obama needs to let this die out he's hurting himself giving speeches. Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer shut down Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday in 5 minutes if Obama wants to be pres he has to be able to do the same thing.

Thanks for the nice post...does anyone have this in audio...I want to burn a copy and play it for a few folks at work...there was a link posted a while back on the main board, that allowed you to extract audio only from sites like You Tube. Does anyone have that?

Re: A More Perfect Union; Obama Speech Addressed Rev Wrights Racist Comments

I personally don't see what's wrong with saying god damn America. He has freedom of speech, let the man say whatever he wants to say. I knew what he meant. He means America is reaping what it's been sowing these past 400+ years. Collective genocide and then ostracization of entire races of people, placing prices on whole species of animals just to clear out more land for humans to fuck up. He's pointint out what's wrong about America, just like Martin Luther King. And, just like MLK, he is now being made out to be some kind of "monster" for political and personal gain by the worthless, trivial, sensationalist media...and the equally worthless Clinton campaign. Because he(MLK) pointed out what was wrong, he was ill spoken of, vilified, maligned, hated and eventually, murdered. The truth is always hard to bear, like bad tasting medicine.

Thomas Jefferson said, he "trembled for this country" when he reflected that God was just and that his justice could not sleep forever. Well, the day that these presidents feared has now and will continue to come to pass...

I think Barack should have pointed out that not "All" black men are angry. To just speak for an entire race like that is ignorant if you ask me. The white media are having a field day with it.

Otherwise pretty good speech.

Why has Obama's former minister dominated the news?

"I've been astonished, though probably shouldn't be surprised, at the prominence that news organizations — chiefly the cable networks — have given during the past 10 days to the flap over remarks by Barack Obama's former minister, to the exclusion of all the pressing issues facing this country."

The video below provides some context to explain how the Fox News "virus" has infiltrated other news outlets."

[FLASH]http://www.youtube.com/v/MjvNSpsPu1k&hl=en[/FLASH]

This week, Barack Obama gave one of the most honest and inspiring speeches on race in American history after weathering days of the media's relentless, divisive, and racially charged attacks. But have you wondered where these attacks came from and why they dominated the news?

Reporters like NBC's Tim Russert focused on the "Reverend Wright controversy" only after FOX and other right-wing media did. It happens over and over: FOX airs a right-wing smear and the mass media repeat it. Film director Robert Greenwald just released a short video called FOX Attacks Obama: Part 2 which shows how it happens.

We are launching a petition demanding the big networks stop parroting FOX and distracting Americans from real issues. We'll hand-deliver your signatures to major media outlets next week. Watch the video, and sign the petition, here:

http://www.moveon.org/r?r=3495&id=12363-7671297-HJOMvC&t=454

The petition, which we're launching with Greenwald's Brave New Films, says: "FOX is a Republican mouthpiece, not a legitimate news organization. Real news organizations must reject FOX's smears of Barack Obama, not parrot them and distract Americans from the pressing issues of the day." The more signatures we deliver, the bigger the impact—so please tell your friends.

Media watchdog group Media Matters has chronicled how FOX spent months trying to smear Obama by associating him with Reverend Wright's words. Greenwald's new video shows how the attacks successfully migrated to the mass media—Tim Russert repeated Sean Hannity's smears virtually word-for-word!

Meanwhile, the big networks all but ignored Pastor John Hagee, whose endorsement John McCain was "honored" and "proud" to receive. Hagee says Katrina was God's punishment for homosexuality, Jews are to blame for anti-Semitism, and Catholicism is the "Whore of Babylon" and "a cult."

It gets worse. At the same time they relentlessly reported on Obama's pastor, most network journalists also ignored Rick Parsley, a televangelist who McCain called his "spiritual guide" when accepting his endorsement last month. Parsley has said:
I do not believe our country can truly fulfill its divine purpose until we understand our historical conflict with Islam. I know that this statement sounds extreme, but I do not shrink from its implications. The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed...

Ignoring McCain's spiritual advisers while going after Obama's is what we expect from FOX, which is more a Republican mouthpiece than a real news organization. But when real news outlets follow FOX's lead, we have to hold them accountable. Otherwise, FOX will continue to elevate smear after smear against Democrats into the mass media in 2008.
