When I moved to my first spot in Oakland on 32nd and Chestnut back in 2008 I would take a cab home and the driver would ask if I wanted him to wait outside. Neighbors would take great pains to know me and make sure I wasn't there to buy sex, drugs or arrest somebody. It's amazing what can change in 7 short years.

The (mostly white) neighborhoods around mine are super active on nextdoor. I signed up because they were offering some freebies at local restaurants.
There are 3 types of posts on there
1. Lost Dog/Cat
2. Handyman/cleaning service recommendations
3. Suspicious persons / group of kids hanging out.
They are very careful to point out race when it's a group of people of different races (1 white/2 black, etc), but when it's a single person they never mention it.
To be fair, I have seen people call out of the original posters as fear mongering, but it's always followed by a "better safe than sorry response"

The so-called harassment I received in the "hood" was more of a good natured ribbing that everyone goes through. If I were fat with a wooden leg they would have capped on me for my weight and limp. Instead they picked on me and my black wife for being interracial. There was rarely any hatred behind it.
White neighborhoods were a different story. The people there considered us a threat and were quick to call the cops on us for any and everything. I felt a lot more apprehension driving through Danville than West Oakland.
I loved the 2008 Oakland, but hate what it's become since.

That's a fair question.
I'm from a mixed family that passed for white. Growing up it always confused me how my folks could tell racist jokes and talk so much shit about black people then visit my grandfather in the nursing home like everything was good.
In the early 90's it always confused me how my white friends and classmates could bump Public Enemy and wear Malcolm X hats while completely ignoring their messages and the questions they raised. When I started rapping myself it further baffled me how black people would accept my music while white people would say things like "You're good, but everyone knows that white people can't rap" as if it were a scientific fact. These were educated intelligent people who should have known better.
Since then I've come to the conclusion that white people are the world's greatest problem and black people, particularly African Americans, are its greatest salvation. Expressing these views and living under that belief has caused a lot of incidents which results in a lot of stories.

That's not a gentrified area that's not far from my crib in the lakeshore area. Houses are in the million dollar range over there. Obviously that cac doesn't know when she's being hit on.
I have no sympathy for these Negroes. They want so much white validation and acceptance. These are the same Negroes who would tell us that slavery and racism is in the past. This is the same reason why theyre so shocked at the racism they face in 2015. They actually thought white people were different today.
