GREENPOINT, Brooklyn (PIX11) – The New York Liberty will build an $80 million practice facility on the waterfront in Greenpoint, the team announced Thursday.
The 75,000-square-foot facility, funded entirely by the team’s ownership, is expected to open in 2027. The new facility comes after the New York Liberty won its first-ever WNBA championship, breaking a long dry spell for the city. It was New York City’s first professional basketball championship since the 1970s.

Renderings of the new facility, which will sit on Newtown Creek, show a glass exterior on the water and an outdoor court decked out in the team’s seafoam green. On top of the building is an outdoor dining area for the team and grassy areas along the water.

“The New York Liberty deserve a facility of their own: one that reflects their tremendous talent, work ethic, and ambition,” said Clara Wu Tsai, Governor of the New York Liberty.
The facility will have two practice courts, an in-house hair, nail and makeup studio, and a modern locker room with private suites for each player, according to the team.
New York Liberty players Jonquel Jones, Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart consulted on the facility’s design.

“We were thrilled to be a part of the insights process, and the results are a direct reflection of that,” Jones said. “It is important to let our personalities shine and have a place where you can really express yourself. This new facility is not only about functionality, it is about creating a space that truly reflects who we are as athletes and people.”
