I view it as a 'Good News, Bad News' situation. Like you, I agree that the players will absorb "...more abuse...", but the money will go to both(the players will be crazy if they don't DEMAND more $$$). The teams will get higher 'caps', allowing for that extra cash.
This play at 'greed' may come back to haunt them. Sort of like the "Law of Diminishing Returns". (lol) Eventually, college will get a playoff system, and that will take the bowl games further into the new year.
All three major sports are competing for the dollar at the same time.
