Coughlin deserved to go out better than he did. He went out with his team quitting and fans blaming him for the shit.

I've been watching the Giants before most of you guys were born. This team is the worst I can remember, because they quit. Ray Handley's teams didn't quit. This was the first Giant team I ever saw quit.
Then there was that nonsense with ODB against Carolina. Coughlin (the so-called disciplinarian) did absolutely nothing to stop it. By the end of the season (last 3 games) Coughlin looked confused and outclassed out there. It was time for him to go.
I also believe Eli Manning would've been a better QB had he had a better coach. Coughlin 20 year as a coach and only 12 wins more than losses. 102 - 90 that's a 531% winning percentage.
With only 1 playoff appearance in 7 years the Giants front office allowed Coughlin to walk away with some dignity.

huh..the fans i kno still love that guy..no victor cruz all yr, jpp injured for most, no consistant running back, and suspect defense was our problem..hell we loss like 7 games by 1 td or less..if the d would've held together for various final drives we'd be in the playoffs and coughlin would've been chilling..i personally wanted him to return and various other people i kno wanted him to

I don't think they quit on Coughlin per-se, I think a lot of players wouldn't even been playing on a team if it wasn't for our injuries. To me it seemed like a lot of those guys were out there to collect a check rather than be a professional athlete. Compare to the Giants v Eagles game to the 49ers vs Rams game. The later was probably one of the best games on Sunday and each team were playing hard for nothing.
nah we like the cat..it was everybody else hating him and the gmen..juss look at this board or anytime the giants win the superbowl..ya refer to them as "lucky" or "ya nigs still ain't shit"..nobody ever respects the 2 giants superbowl..even the commentators shit on the gmen when we do good..they never really pick us to win the division or anything...hell the first superbowl we was juss the other guys, the filler team for the superbowl, the guys that fucked it up for greenbay, the cake walk for the pats perfect season..no kinda respect for the gmen for the pats vs gmen 1...if they could they would've gave the pats the trophy b4 the game even started and would've told the gmen to stay home

He should have showed more respect cause they let him hang on longer than he should have. The dude luckily won two super bowls and the rest of his years there were failures. If that was a black coach with the same success his ass would have been out of the door.

no matter how emotional and uplifting and heartfelt that press conference was all the stuff he was talking was completely ABSENT that day.
I'm not saying to judge his WHOLE career by that one game but I will say you can use that game to say perhaps its time for him to step back.

yeah we're the guys lucky enough to win enough games to get to the playoffs, we the guys lucky enough to win 3 straight playoff games on the road, we're lucky to stop the best single season scoring team of all time and held them to 16 points and we're lucky to be the only team to defeat them that yr..should've nicknamed them the ny rabbit foot that yr
I get it. Giants really have no identity aside from that defensive line so its hard for people to look at them and see Contender. Either way, Coughlin was always rumored to be getting fired for the longest. Didn't even let dust collect on them trophies. You may have not done it but there were fans who wanted him out.
Eli ain't shit. I'm not conceding that. Hell I give Coughlin credit for winning in spite of him.
I give him credit for what he did but man y'all don't want his old ass. That cat lost 3 or 4 games ALONE this year just simply fucking up time management. His best days are gone.

Ex-Giants running back turned radio host Tiki Barber spent his Tuesday morning recounting the sometimes-strained relationship he had with former head coachTom Coughlin as the latter spent the day saying goodbye.
And while you'll see some harsh words about Coughlin courtesy of Barber, he ultimately praised the possible Hall of Famer on hisCBS Sports Radio show.
Barber started off by remembering how he was a "liability" with his fumbling problems and how Coughlin replaced Jim Fassel to bring discipline and attention to detail to the team.
He also told this anecdote about Coughlin being strict about player rules and behavior:
"I'm a jovial guy, I smile, I laugh, I say hello to everybody. I winked at him once in the locker room. The first thing, he stopped dead in his tracks and said, 'Don't wink at me!' I said, 'What?? What are talking about? Okay Coach, that's how you're gonna be.'"
Then, he remembered Coughlin getting on him about keeping the ball "high and tight" to prevent him from being that "liability" as a fumbler:
"A lot of people remember the images of me running down the field with literally the ball under my chin without my arm moving at all, and the reason I was doing that was because it was kind of like a, 'All right, screw you coach. If you want it high and tight, it's going to be high and tight.'
"But an interesting thing happened. It actually made me a better player. It made me a non-liability as a fumbler, but it also shortened my stride length and made me stronger, more compact as a runner. And because of one little nuanced detail that Tom Coughlin was trying to drill into my head, I became a Pro Bowler. I became one of the elite players in the National Football League because Tom Coughlin was a pain in the ass."
Barber's conclusion? After he retired in 2006, he told co-owner John Mara that Coughlin needed to change his approach with players, something the coach did to help deliver two Super Bowls.
"He's a Hall of Famer and he's a great coach and he's a great man," Barber said. "My biggest testament to Tom Coughlin is he learned how to change at an old age and that's what made him the coach everybody loves and respects and reveres, even if he can't stand the way he doesn't allow you to wink at him."
