New Music: Ms. Lauryn Hill - Nice For What RMX (Drake) Live at the Apollo 5/1/17

“See this is ‘Ex-Factor’/He took the sample/My shit is classic/Here’s an example,” she sang, in place of Drake’s regular chorus.

“Stop acting like you didn’t grow up singing my songs,” Hill rapped.

“I swooped down on the bitch like I had wings on my arms.”

The Boy made a song celebrating women, and now he’s been rightly put in his place.

God bless you guys
Come on thank you so much

seen her years ago the FOX in Detroit same energy. Need a new album ASAP

I always thought she should have come out with a Hip Hop only album, her flow was that nice. I've always enjoyed her rapping more than her singing.

That's was fire and I don't even fuck with the drake track..Good to see L boogie spitting again...maybe she should hop on the remix ....

My understanding she doesn't have the rights to perform her songs, that's why they all sound crazy when she does them.
Then she wouldn't be able to sing a verse from any I'd think. Look at Remy Ma and the Shether song. That got completely shut down.

Lauryn may not have the right to use the musical part? But a lot of that shit she wrote herself. That chick can spit free flows all day.

One talented genius.

Correction: I do kinda remember the whole IRS thing where they said she sold or leased some rights to her songs to raise money. So there may be some validity to her making it sound different, but the verses she still does with a "twist", I guess. But think companies don't like or frown against artists selling their permanent rights to their music.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Performing_rights

Performing rights are the right to perform music in public. It is part of copyright law and demands payment to the music’s composer/lyricist and publisher (with the royalties generally split 50/50 between the two). Public performance means that a musician or group who is not the copyright holder is performing a piece of music live, as opposed to the playback of a pre-recorded song. Performances are considered "public" if they take place in a public place and the audience is outside of a normal circle of friends and family, including concerts, nightclubs, restaurants etc. Public performance also includes broadcast and cable television, radio, and any other transmitted performance of a live song.

Permission to publicly perform a song must be obtained from the copyright holder or a collective rights organization.

Again, I don't know the details, but if the copyright holder says they can't perform the song they can't perform the song.

She DOES do the songs live. You think just because she's playing shitty versions with the SAME CHORDS, SAME MELODY, SAME LYRICS, that makes a difference?

Embarrassing

Notice these white folks get this tix to this and Beyonce...

And act like they are too good to be there.
I've performed in front of crowds like this. I don't give a damn. I try and I bust my ass regardless. In my head I sat, "I'm gonna get your asses out those seats."
