Black Thought flow was flawless

But imma be real Benny got him this track
i thought off 1st listen. upon 2nd ,3rd listen, thought bodied that shit . especially when you read his lyrics and how he painted a honest depiction of street life.

Use to go back & forth on who had the best verse

I'm not going to argue your opinion, but I highly disagree.
Whom are on your top 5 list, I'm just curious?
lyricists? that's different than preferred style and charisma.

nas, rakim, gza, black thought, em with AZ very underrated and kendrick fast approaching.

Benny the Butcher reveals he once hopped on a plane to collaborate with JAY-Z
“He had an idea of a song that he wanted to do with me and I flew out,” the Griselda mainstay recalled in an interview.

Benny the Butcher revealed he once hopped on a plane to potentially record a song with the one and only JAY-Z. During an interview, Bootleg Kev called a collaboration between the two artists “inevitable” since Benny signed a management deal with JAY’s Roc Nation in 2019. It was then that the Griselda mainstay revealed the lengths he’d gone to try and secure a verse.

“I ain’t gon’ lie, I asked him,” Benny said. “But that’s nothing you can really ask for, you know what I’m saying?”

“One time I flew out here,” he continued. “He had an idea of a song that he wanted to do with me and I flew out here to do a song with him, but he was movin’ around and doin’ shit, you know what I’m sayin’? That’s the fucking president times 10.”

Even though the track never materialized, Benny said having access to JAY through Roc Nation is valuable in itself.
“.. His door is open to us,” Benny said. “... It’s some knowledge and some shit that I’ma gain that could be just as valuable. Like the deal with the NFL, I knew about that before it happened. I was in the Roc Nation building and someone said, ‘Watch what happens Thursday.’ And that Square shit happened.

Benny added that the day JAY signed his deal with the NFL was the day that Benny signed his agreement with Roc Nation.

“He was explaining it to us, so his door is always open. It’s a lot to be gained. I don’t want him to be feeling that I’m that type, like, ‘I just want the song, I just want the song,’ ‘cause it ain’t like that,” he said.
However, the rapper said he would still jump at the opportunity to collaborate with Hov.
“If Hov get on a song with me, he gon’ give you an aesthetic of what he feel like the people want to hear on some street shit,” he said. “Look, when he get on them songs with Jeezy, he goes in.”

back to Thought...

Its his CLARITY and breath control

EVERY word is clear

and he doesn't OVER ENUNCIATE

Or place emphasis all over the place

Its the substance of the OVERALL theme along with the tightness of the bars

and the vocabulary

and the rhyme schemes and flows.

It is so damn JAZZ in his delivery and his ability to stay COMPLETELY in the pocket.

I CARE about what he is saying.

Its so street corner rap but at its zenith and most musical.

When thought is in POCKET!?!?

(sidebar... I REALLY wish Tariq could work with 40 Shebib for just ONE song, that dude ability to craft a the PERFECT pocket within ANY soundscape paired with Thought?!)

this is even MORE VALID now
