New Lauryn Hill - Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix). SMASH OR TRASH?

Yeah.... I was about to write that shit off. She's saying something on the track - which I'm glad to hear. But she needs to put it on another beat.

I like it... Don't think it's a Banger. The song ain't for everybody. Can't believe it took Uncle Sam on that ass for her to start recording again. :smh::smh::smh: I hate to say it but, the music world needs her.

lyric good
beat good

horrible together:smh:

sorry i didn't like it

The combo has a sort of neurotic feel to it, almost as if they don't go together but thats the beauty of it, because it gives it a real edgy feel to it..

The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum
- Masta Killa

I've always been a lyrics guy.

:smh::smh::smh:

Man read some history and science and get that bullshit thought out of here.

Drums are integral part of your makeup Bro.

In the absence fo this instrument, beatboxing was created.

Go google drumming and dopamine, drumming and neuroscience, talking drums of Africa etc.

The words we speak don't touch unless we use the tonality that we were gifted with.

Go take a look at all the genres we created and look at the common thread.

That drum held us together on a long ass trip here.......

its aight.

just a spoken word piece over a beat. :dunno:

True. Then again, I do not think that Sankofa's intention was to discredit the importance of the drum in African history... :dunno:

I know that wasn't his intention.

But a lie repeated enough times eventually sounds like the truth.

We have to be vigilant in accepting commonly held beliefs without knowing their origin.

In 2013, it's still to easy to take our shit, re-package it and give it back to us as their inventions

100% c/s...!

Hate the intro ,shit is too busy !! need to trim the EQ & Mix too, she's been on this LOUDER & FASTER SHIT !! For too long!!! She has so much shit in her lyrics for these jars to listen but the speed and loudness takes so much away from the song at the end! It's just a shame cos she's still one of the best ever on theMIC ! Even after all these years she still got it ! THAT ARRESTING VOICE THAT GRABS YOU !! AND SHES DROPPING SO MUCH DOPE SHIT LYRICALLY !! Maaaaann!!!

THIS RIGHT HERE^^^^
IT'S LIKE THEY PUT OUT THIS CONFUSION TO GET PEOPLE TALKING. BUT I DIGS IT. BREATH OF FRESH AIR COMPARED TO SOME OF THIS BULLSHIZZZ ON THE RADIO/VIDEO THAT PLAYS OVER AND OVER AND OVER...
ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING CEELO WOULD DO..
SOMEONE FIND THE ACAPELLA TO THIS AND PUT WHATEVER BEAT YOU WANT

BUT THE LYRICS :yes::dance:..

I dig the lyrics.
Written on paper, it would read like a Magnum Opus.
Lyrically, she's the GOAT female emcee. Hands down.

And she would TEAR THE FRAME out of these new-school 'all gold erry'thang' types of rappers in ANY cypher.

For me tho, the problem is her dry, monotone delivery on this track.
This song is missing her trademark....... SOUL....... in my opinion. :dunno:

Her delivery sounds like she is just reading her raps off a sheet of paper, or a smartphone.

This track does not sound like any lyrics that she wrote down, memorized, then stepped into a booth, and WENT THE FUCK OFF !!!! Like we all know she is CAPABLE of doing.

Sounds like her 'physical' body is in the studio, but her 'heart' is not... :smh::(

Overall it's OK.
Not her best work. :smh:

However, now I'm looking forward to eventual remixes of this track, plus any other NEW music from her.

Notice the difference between this new track and her delivery, cadence, flow, inflections, vocal pitch, etc. on her old stuff and you may see what I mean.

This one is missing that LAUREN HILL SOUL.

Sony gave her $1,000,000 for the new record deal.

This song should help the label recoup $364.23

Of course it wasn't.

First of all the quote isn't even mine, so if you're concerned with intent you should probably focus on the person who the quote actually belongs to.

Secondly who isn't it apparent to that the word 'drum' was used to represent the beat of a song and not the actual drum instrument?

But a lie repeated enough times eventually sounds like the truth.

It isn't a lie to those who correctly interpreted what masta killa was saying.

If you have an issue with how masta killa chooses to express himself artistically than take it up with him.

Don't try and use me or anything I say as a teaching tool.

Bruh, I have no issues with what you wrote. You just wrote what you wrote.

don't like the song too much but it does prove that Lauryn can still flow. I didn't think she could still flow like that. Hopefully her singing voice is still there also. Saw one of her rare good performances in Philly last 4th of July so i knew she was still capable of good live shows. I hope she doesn't try to produce the album all by herself. Someone needs to be there to rain her incase she ventures off into that "Unplugged" mindset...

you call that flow, LOFL

This shit is wack even when compared to today's standards (which are lower). Compare it to her old body of work and this is on par with a community college talent show (i.e wacker than wack).

People are talking about the lyrics are dope so they can overlook the terrible beat.

Since when did you have to start choosing between lyrics or beat:confused:

I hope her fans do her (and us) a favor and make it known that it's wack. If not, you may get an entire album of this.

dope.... most who will not like it and/or hate on it is simply because they can't/don't comprehend the shit she's saying. It is/going to fly right over their heads cuz she not on the simple/dumb shit like Future/Wayne/Ross etc
