just a spoken word piece over a beat.![]()
Man read some history and science and get that bullshit thought out of here.
Drums are integral part of your makeup Bro.
In the absence fo this instrument, beatboxing was created.
Go google drumming and dopamine, drumming and neuroscience, talking drums of Africa etc.
The words we speak don't touch unless we use the tonality that we were gifted with.
Go take a look at all the genres we created and look at the common thread.
That drum held us together on a long ass trip here.......

True. Then again, I do not think that Sankofa's intention was to discredit the importance of the drum in African history...![]()
This is absolutely not the soulful Ms. Hill we remember back in the 90′s.

i know that wasn't his intention.
But a lie repeated enough times eventually sounds like the truth.
we have to be vigilant in accepting commonly held beliefs without knowing their origin.
In 2013, it's still to easy to take our shit, re-package it and give it back to us as their inventions

The combo has a sort of neurotic feel to it, almost as if they don't go together but thats the beauty of it, because it gives it a real edgy feel to it..

Of course it wasn't.
First of all the quote isn't even mine, so if you're concerned with intent you should probably focus on the person who the quote actually belongs to.
Secondly who isn't it apparent to that the word 'drum' was used to represent the beat of a song and not the actual drum instrument?
It isn't a lie to those who correctly interpreted what masta killa was saying.
If you have an issue with how masta killa chooses to express himself artistically than take it up with him.
Don't try and use me or anything I say as a teaching tool.
don't like the song too much but it does prove that Lauryn can still flow. I didn't think she could still flow like that. Hopefully her singing voice is still there also. Saw one of her rare good performances in Philly last 4th of July so i knew she was still capable of good live shows. I hope she doesn't try to produce the album all by herself. Someone needs to be there to rain her incase she ventures off into that "Unplugged" mindset...

dope.... most who will not like it and/or hate on it is simply because they can't/don't comprehend the shit she's saying. It is/going to fly right over their heads cuz she not on the simple/dumb shit like Future/Wayne/Ross etc
Yeah.... I was about to write that shit off. She's saying something on the track - which I'm glad to hear. But she needs to put it on another beat.
