Frank Castle might soon be reuniting with Matt Murdock.
After starring in Netflix's Marvel shows, Jon Bernthal might be returning as the Punisher for Daredevil: Born Again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bernthal has signed on to reprise the role for the upcoming Disney+ series, which will also star Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Reps for Bernthal and Marvel did not respond to EW's request for comment, but Bernthal himself seemed to confirm his return on Instagram by sharing a captionless photo of himself as Frank. (Several of his Marvel costars celebrated the news in the comments, including Krysten Ritter, who played Jessica Jones, and Ben Barnes, who played Billy Russo.)
Bernthal later shared a short video to his official YouTube channel, showing off a Punisher-shaped lawn chair with the caption: "Frank Castle is Back."

Daredevil: Born Again is technically an entirely new project, separate from the earlier Netflix show, and it's expected to begin shooting in New York later this month. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are spearheading the series, which will have an 18-episode first season — much longer than other Disney+ projects.
The last Netflix Marvel show went off the air in 2019, and since then Marvel Studios hasn't been shy about bringing some of those actors into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cox first popped up as Daredevil for a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and he later played a pivotal role in She-Hulk on Disney+. D'Onofrio also made a surprise appearance in Hawkeye, and he's expected to be a major part of the upcoming series Echo with Alaqua Cox.

So, if Bernthal is back, might we be seeing the return of other Netflix Marvel actors? That remains to be seen. As of right now, Cox and D'Onofrio are the only confirmed cast members, and previous Daredevil actors like Deborah Ann Woll (who played Karen Page) and Elden Henson (who played Foggy Nelson) have said that they are not involved in Daredevil: Born Again.
Last month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige opened up to EW about Cox and D'Onofrio''s return, praising them as "amazing actors and storytellers." He also added that unlike previous Marvel Disney+ projects, Daredevil: Born Again will experiment with a longer, 18-episode season and embrace "the fun of episodic television."

Might???

disney/marvel/pixar has too much of thier own content and the potential for all the spinoffs and whatnot to be dealing with a 3rd party or middleman..

don't be surprised if/when those shows come back when they do their own streaming service.

the big issue i have is how many separate streaming services are people going to get to keep up with all these shows??

I actually agree with this. Their shows suck ass because they are just long movies, sliced up. Better to actually shoot like a regular show, have some self contained story lines and all them to be their own thing

These executives just tried to be so smart and reinvent the wheel for absolutely no reason and waste millions.

If you’ve ever read his comic this is actually an accurate statement. Kingpin is brutal, super smart and he has no super powers. Yet he rules N.Y. with an iron hand. Great character. He deserves a show honestly

Super facts

Sidebar... they need to compensate the creators and writers of these characters.

I think Marvel has to really control its audience again. It was always amazing how it was able to cater to die hard fan boys and to the new general public

And then the MCU diehard

But balancing all those plates is damn near impossible

I hope they are able to just make the best product possible with SOME connective tissue but keep the casual viewer engaged
