Need advice re: Law Enforcement Employment

What stolen property did you recieve? What was it?
Mobile a/v shit.. woofers, in-dash, amplifiers..

Give up dude u already lost.... One word INTEGRITY, they will throw ur application right in the garbage... Im not trying to defeat your goals but all law enforcement agencies have access to sealed records...

I understand they have access to it, but if the State Police in the state that I was charged in couldn't find it, what's the chances that the guys down there will? With that said, I'm still gonna keep it real, and I won't give up until THEY deny my app.
I'm in school right now for Computer Info System, but until the end of that, I need a job doing what I know best.. I spent my whole adult life in uniform so you see where I'm coming from..

Wow, I had the same thing happen to me at age 20. You are alright dude. I had a Y.O.=Youthful offender and I have worked with state, fed, and local goverment since then...

Can you elaborate a little more? What did you do when you say "worked with"? How was the interview? Did you tell them about your situation?

When you do go for an interview, if you get that far, they go into great deatail of every arrest and/or conviction that you ever had. Whether or not you decide to be honest and let them know about the expunged record it still shows up in some shape or form. In most cases you will have no chance of getting into law enforcement with a felony conviction. There are exceptions to the rule but they are rare. Good luck.

Is that a felony? If it's a felony, you're pretty much out. If it's a misdemeanor, they might work with you, but ask a lot of questions about it.

worked with means I have held jobs with various governments. I dont bring up the charges since my records are sealed. If your records are sealed, you are fine. You dont have to disclose it to an employer. Trust me.

Well, quick update for anyone who cares. I moved to NC and the very next day I was called for an interview. I aced that shit, didn't mention shit about my expunged record. They called me back today for a follow-up with a polygraph. That shit, for anybody who's had to undertake on, is a bitch. I'm gonna assume they didn't find shit because the interviewer told me that if I passed the background portion then they'd schedule a polygraph. That shit is time consuming and stressful. Anyway, it was a job for an Armored Logistic company. Tomorrow I get the final decision. I actually told the conductor the truth about my shit and explained to him that my shit was expunged so I had no legal obligation to mention it and he blew it off. I'll keep y'all posted..

Greetings fellow members,
I've been considering applying for a position with either local PD or Sheriffs when I move to NC.
My only issue is with the criminal records portion. Back in 04, I was charged with receiving stolen property. I plead guilty and received 18 months HYTA probation. It was expunged after my successful completion. When I applied for my CCW last year in Michigan, I admitted to the State Police, my violation and they requested additional info and an interview. Anyway, I was given a CCW. My question is, most police employment applications that I've come across automatically exclude me because of what happened 6 years ago. What are the chances that if I keep it real and admit on the application that I'll be considered? I already know the alternative, that if I don't and do get employed that it could come back to bite me in the ass. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks..
I've served honorably with the Marines and the Army Nat'l Guard with two deployments to Iraq. One deployment in each branch.

Fuck the Po-lice. Don't do it. :smh::smh::smh:

Charlemagne, I feel you on that sometimes man but I have a family to feed bro. I'd be a fool to piss away an opportunity because of a belief.

I will once again say it... You have ZERO chance of gettin on as police.

Polygraph, background, standing on your head, praying, pipe dreaming, begging for board support, posting questions, gathering signatures, starting a petition, 3 clouds of black smoke from the vatican... Ain't nothing gonna change that fact. You ain't getting hired with a felony arrest and plea. Period.

If you get on post you offer letter from the chief or your academy start date letter with yo name scratched out to prove it. We will all be waiting.

It's not hate. It's facts.

Who the fuck is this dude man? U get ur rocks off shitting on other ppl's plans? Get a fucking life bro.. I never said it was a police position, I said it was to an armored carrier. I don't have shit to prove to any Man on this board. The only reason I even started this thread was to get some info. Fuck off bitch. That's all, now come one and come all with your faggotry. Crab in the bucket ass ninjas.. Do something positive with yourselves.

Well, today around noon, I got the call for the drug test which meant I passed the polygraph. As I previously stated, I told the examiner the truth, and he waived it off as if it hadn't occured. I took and passed the drug test and DOT physical and I begin training on Monday. It's not the police gig I so hoped for, but I think it's a good start. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with constructive advice/criticism and to the naysayer, thanks also.. I'm out..
