NBA Debate: How Can Ben Simmons Be a Top 10 Point Guard When He Can't Shoot?

To me his free throws are more of an issue. :smh: Keeps him from being aggressive and going to the basket I believe.

The comments in here ain't age well at all cuzzo

Dude is going to miss a whole season and millions of dollars because his feelings were hurt
Ben might be one of the softest athletes ever
Can't wait until his first game back at Philly once he's traded.

He's not a top ten pg imo. Besides the usual names (Curry, Westbrook, Irving, Lillard, Harden/Paul, Walker) there's younger guards who I would take over Ben (Fox, Murray).

His ability to disappear in games as a point guard is alarming. I've never seen him actually take over a game.

Still not a top ten pg but I think if he fully embraces the Draymond role

And continues to play solid defense

He can help us out tremendously. This is the first time he's played with elite scorers who come off the screen. I expected plenty of fake handoffs to give him a free lane to attack the basket or give our numerous shooters open looks

that young man could be Draymond 3.0

If a coach and an organization can commit to him

but I think he still has to earn that level of trust

He has to PROVE he is focused enough to do it,

But I also stand on my point when I created the thred years ago.

Shooting is important and should be a skill that is constantly developed by a professional.

At bare minimum, he needs to take a few shots or continuously attack the basket. The passivity cannot be his m.o but I'm not expecting anything to change from his Philly days

damn.

bro you REALLY don't think he will be a little more tough a little more aggressive move the ball more?

JUST PLAY MORE?

They made a doc about him before he he was drafted and in one part he and his family and agent are going to presentations by shoe companies and while the others talked pros and cons this dude said he was going with whoever paid the most.
That’s all I ever needed to know about Ben Simmons.

Umm ok.

his back is really f*cked up....you can tell by his lack of lateral movement and explosiveness....without those two things he
is done...............

Kind of related to the Ben Simmons discussion…

Sports culture is fucked up. Sure athletes are overpaid but capitalism is to blame for that, not them. People who enjoy sports should always respect the humanity of athletes and maybe ease the fuck up when piling on someone already subject to a bunch of criticism.

If you “hate” an athlete, the problem is you, not the athlete.

And when we see someone spreading hate, maybe we all have a duty to call them out on it. Even if their words don’t reach the athlete, reducing public acceptance of toxic behavior probably ripples beyond sports into the general culture.

Overpaid?! Oh, you mean compared to me,you and Earl working 9-5s?

Yeah, I see how WE could see it that way. But these "owners,"........ if they can afford to pay their starting five $100 mil a year, the owners aren't making only $100 mil a year....

If anything the owners / athletes and players association should agree to a moratorium on ticket price increases. The TV, licensing, merch ....etc contract deals are adding a lot of $$$ to the collective pot. Lower ticket prices so more "families" can see games and agree not to increase executive's/ management pay to offset.

This part, for as bad as Ben is and the perception of CJ, they don't deserve such public hate and vitriol..... (Ben's high school highlights are wild and for this dude to have abandoned all of that once he made it and to still get deal after deal is wild tho)

When I was saying overpaid in the sense that we don't want to get into who SHOULD get paid WHAT in a capitalistic society.

Of course athletes are not pain any where near the ACTUAL revenue they produce for the owners and he leagues

but the average fan aint trying to hear that.

They the first ones to bring up teachers fireman manual labor etc etc to prove their disingenuous point.

Wow that respect mental health policy sh*t is done at ESPN huh?

@jack walsh13 @REDLINE @4 Dimensional @largebillsonlyplease

Lol. I guess so.

I just told my daughter this morning that society will move forward without or without you regardless of how you feel. You just need to determine if you want to move forward with it or get left behind.

Ben is getting left behind.

Many of my students use mental health as a crutch though. I can only sympathize so much when I got a job to do. And there is only so much I can say other than “I understand.”

At this point, what else can anyone say? I understanding if he was working as a tier 2 customer service rep at AT&T. But we talking about the NBA. I only have little sympathy for those that make it to that level. It might be unfair, but my goodness it’s the NBA.
