NBA approves Ballmer's bid to buy Clippers

I feel ya but that's actually BETTER than real life numbers of who has power and influence in business. If you think of head coaches like high end managers, the league is doing better than the rest of America. and no way 2% of the business have black CEOs.

I just checked the numbers

Among Fortune 500 CEOs, six are black, making up just 1.2 percent
There are eight Latino and eight Asian CEOs, accounting for just 1.6 percent each

Just saying you should look at society and not just the NBA.

I feel ya, but Fortune 500 CEOs are subject to competition and antitrust laws. Sports teams are not. Sports teams are government approved cartels. Don't believe me google Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961. They have the right to collude, conspire, price-fix and union bust at free will. You could start another league with every star player as part owner, try to negotiate a TV contract with ESPN and the NBA could shut your shit down, and it's legal. Microsoft can't do shit like that.

That's the only reason I'm singling sports teams out.

If any of our black ass was sitting in 100 billion and we wanted to buy the team trust the league wouldn't nor owners would approve of the sale even if we offered 5 billion cash lmaoo

didnt know this but why not make them an offer they couldn't refuse like the clippers?

The owner wasn't selling to him under any circumstance.
He was not risking the team leaving the city.

He bought the team for like $20 and a box of newports, $ wasn't the issue he was cashing out regardless of whatever he sold it for.

The League. The league makes it's own rules since it's basically a private club. You want in? Abide by it's terms.

Silver has been clear since this started that they all go. No ownership stakes no involvement. Ballmer may be able to get he some tix for a Sixers game, but that's about it.

Yes, Silver has been clear that they all go but that had to be voted on by the rest of the owners. That termination hearing has been cancelled. With this voluntary sale agreement in place, the NBA announced they're no longer pursuing stripping ownership from the Sterlings

Involvement in the organization and ownership are 2 different things.. the league definitely has to approve the latter but the former :dunno:

Here's another article on it..

The agreement between Shelly Sterling and Ballmer contains a “creative way with Mr. Ballmer to meet the desires of the league to sell 100 percent of the team, and the desire of Ms. Sterling to remain a participant and to remain involved in the franchise,” the source said.

The source declined to elaborate, but said the role would extend past simply attending games.

The sale has to meet the terms of the NBA. If they see any portion they don't like ex. Shelly rolling up to re-enact scenes from Mandingo they don't approve the deal. If they don't like the deal, they have the vote and sell on their terms.

This is something Paul Allen put together, to induce Sterling to sell without a fight. I think the punishment was harsh considering his age and the recordings were illegal under state law..

its illegal to record someone that asked to be recorded? I live in California. Don't know about that law.

It's all about TV money. That's what makes $2 bill a drop in the hat.

How much are the Lakers worth with an already in motion TV deal worth over $3 billion. It's all about TV money. There is an option in the Lakers Time Warner deal that could max out the deal @ $5 billion.

It's more people in southern Cal than all other US states. Not all of California, just So Cal below Fresno or Visalia , take your pick.

The Lakers with the largest TV deal in sports will avg $150-200 mill per year from the Time Warner deal.

The Clippers TV contract is up in 2016. If they can just come close to 50% of what the Lakers & Dodgers just signed up for , Balmer is already in the black & the ink is not dry.

PS check Balmers resume as chief at MSFT. He overpaid in every acquisition.

Really sit down and think about what just happened though.

1. He gets caughtup with a side peice.

2. Has to sell the team.

3. Signs over the rights to the team to his wife.

4. His wife declares him incompetent.

5. His wife sells the team.

6. He sues the league for a billion.:hmm:

Shit ain't adding up.

Still the system is intact and in place.

Black people should not get all excited and happy!

I don't think anyone is under the impression that ine incident is toppling a whole system. One incident did not MAKE the system so why would you think such a thing?

It's called a SMALL victory

You guys always notice other people's agendas and conspiracies and never take time to notice or even work towards your own. Well some people involved in the nba WERE and they got something they wanted. Now let's move on and work towards the next thing.
