Kanye won that alleged "battle" for two reasons:
1.) He was hotter than 50 at the time.
2.) He took the road less traveled and did NOT get into a war of words with 50 and concentrated on putting out the best album possible.

but that "i get money" was literally in every rotation in ny every 5 minutes.. 50 had a better brand name at the time too. he was everywhere all at once. movies, the vitamin water thing that cats were still talkin about, the ciara look alike pictures... etc...the nigga stayed being talked about
but after that "loss" the nigga was invisible and forgotten.
and in addition, both the albums were done by the time the release date fiasco happened.. so the war of words occured after them shits were pressed already.
I meant from a musical standpoint people were feeling Kanye more. (He still had the white fanbase, while 50 was losing his.)
"I Get Money" actually saved the album. 50 said that if he had to do it again, he would have put that single out first. But you rarely heard Kanye going at 50 the way 50 went at him.
I've said it before, 50 is a businessman now. He's no longer the rapper he used to be.
