Nas Nets Ninth No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums

I dl'd....listened to it....and bought 2 copies (put one away with all my classics still shrink wrapped). This album is fantastic. There are a couple of joints that I didn't love the beat...but hey, that's normal for a Nas album...but even on those joints he spits venom. If you grew up with hip hop, this album is for you. You can't really appreciate the full complexity of this album if you not familiar with NY rap from the mid-late 80's through the 90's. But I love this shit. Nas remains one of my fav MCs.

okay, i'm sold

*heads over to my favorite record spot located 6 blocks down*

Smh @ people still supporting this coon

he used to be my fave rapper, I bought all his albums from the actual store but I am so over this guy ... he's changed :smh:
Who gives a shit about what you have to say? You're so lame with your angry black woman shit.

smh @ you taking the opportunity to come in the thread and let people know you feel differently than the majority. That doesn't make you insightful or original, it makes you look more like an attention-seeking troll, perhaps.

Anyone who doesn't change over time is stagnant. If that's your speed, more power to you.

So people shouldnt make posts unless they agree with the majority?

How sheep-ish of you

And changing for the better is good but Nas is on that Koonye shit ... I aint feelin it ... you mad?

I copped this album because I want Nas to stay in the rap game but he fooled me on this one and put raw emotion, album is a classic (remove swiss beat song) and he understands what he gave us as fans, a grown man album and some won't like it like nas said u wouldnt understant

Nas was talking to a lot of you niggas on bgol when y'all was clowning him for getting married

But look at yourself, speak louder bro
You live with your babymoms and scared to make an honest woman out of her
And make her your bride, fake pimps you ain’t even alive
At least I can say I tried plus enjoyed the ride
Plus we got our little boy, my little joy and pride
He got my nose, my grill, your colour, your eyes
Next go round I hope I pick the truest type and watch me do it all again
It’s a beautiful life, aight
Goodbye
Bye Baby by Nas
And all I seen was selfish cowards, under they breath / Saying why did Nas trust her / But look at yourself, speak louder bro / You live with your babymoms and scared to make an honest woman out of her / And make her your bride, fake pimps you ain’t even alive

bought it..as I support good albums

but damn im not sure Id call it the best album in 10yrs---thats stretching it BIG TIME

and its Nas's best effort in years, and I really hate to compare the two greats (since its cliche post ether)

but this is NOT better than the Black Album

you really have to look at the impact an album has, and their simply is no way Nas will ever tour that big off this album, certainly wont have the clothes, style jacking, image copying etc that the Black album had.....

let this Album ride on its own...stop always trying to make shit the best this, the best that

and I agree the Rick Ross shit sucked

Nas is still one of the best products my city can still put out there...

Peace.
I understand the angle and in someways agree with some of the statement. I do not agree that because a Hip Hop CD does not start a trend or wont sell out arenas makes it less of an exceptional album. And to make it clear since seems like my original post is not being looked at. I originally said this could be the best hip hop album in the last ten years. Another brother put the Black Album out there. Think that was like 9 years ago so yea Id def can make a case for that since I think Black Album was dope. I do agree about enjoying it. I dont think its for everybody though. I agree with earlier poster if you did not grow up in a certain era will be hard to appreciate

Nas has and will never sell out arenas, create a bunch of fads, etc. I dont think he is in that lane. How many artist could actually jack his image, content and style?:)

Im always disappointed when I hear an artist like Nas, D-Block or Wu with Ross. It makes me think damn hip hop is the WWF (Yea Im old school dont know new wrestlers) :D

You know what....You're the dumbest fuck on this board. Even dumber than esther, jhoonville, destrehan, darrkman, and damnright.

You cry and cry that black men always run off with white and spanish bitches. Nas married a bum ass black bitch and tried to do the right thing. How exactly is he a "coon"? Is he a coon because you showed up to his concert and was begging him for an autograph and he ignored your bum ass? I mean really.....the last rapper who should be named a coon is Nas, but since you're such a miserable angry black broad you will say anything to bash any black man.

Ever wonder why you're the most hated female on this board? Ever wonder why even thought these bgol niggas are the thirstiest on the planet they still can't stand your ass?

I didn't buy it but I'm gonna cop it on vinyl as I did with all of his great Albums. that DJ HotDay track is gonna rule the summer too.

Guess he's relevant.

Though it may go unmentioned, I consider it a historic and monumental victory considering the minimal promotion, the state of the industry with everyone sounding the same and talking about the same shit as he went against the grain and put out a solid real hip hop cd. This proves that the industry execs are shoving bullshit down our throats and if true artists stay focused on the art form and produce good products the public will support the music and purchase it. I dl'd because I couldn't wait but still copped the hard copy when it dropped and ignored all requests for fuckers asking for a dub. Congrats Nas!

I don't think it aged well and now it's seen in a negative light but if you go to a Nas show, when the beat for that song comes off, the crowd always goes crazy.

Nas is a "coon" now? :smh: the bar is real low

Me.

When that cut with him and Amy Winehouse hits the mainstream his sales should see an even BIGGER jump

Downloaded from iTunes the night it dropped.

Might be better than Stillmatic in my opinIon

IMO, his third best album after It Was Written and Illmatic (and IWW is better than Illmatic, shoot me for having that opinion)
