It was because of Jiraiya they found out about Nagato's true secret. Big whoop if you know how your opponents weapons or technique work? . In case you didn't know, SOSP > two cats that have a hint of tailed beat chakra. The only reason Naruto didn't get his head beat in worse then he did and why he ultimately won, was because he knew how Nagoto's techniques worked.

yeah Jiraiya's info was so helpful that the entire village was destroyed then the writers decided to reboot and bring everyone back to life. Naruto beat Pain and found Nagato all by himself

Half of fighting a powerful ninja is living long enough to figure out their techniques and counter against its weakness. In this case, the alliance has shown to have a plan in place for every edo it's come up against. So the ninja only has to be strong enough to carry out the plan because there is no mystery in how the technique works. For example, knowing the secret of Nagato's technique was the difference between Jiraiya losing and Naruto winning when they fought Pain.

Shikamaru v Hidan is another example of this. He wasn't as strong as Hidan but, he knew more than enough his techs to come up with a stragety to close the power gap and killl him.

After reading this manga for almost six years, Naruto is complete bullshit.
It has abandoned all logic and continuity. None of it makes any fucking sense. What was once a story of a young ninja who aspired to be the best in his village has become a complete abortion in literature that I would not recommend to my worst enemies. Kishi clearly has no real plan with this manga and wrote himself into a hole. I want all the the time I spent reading this trash back. In the combined hours I spent reading this Manga and watching the anime I could have found the cure for AIDS. Yes I said it. Millions will die from AIDS because of Kishi's writing. I will say here and now that I would like a formal apology from Kishimmoto himself for AIDS.

Sigh... In other words... Fuck Naruto.
