Based on her assessment of her mom who's 56 but who can; "still can shut a 18 year old down...", I've gotta think she's been mentally conditioned to think & behave this way almost from birth...
And now; rather than raising her own son better than her own salacious upbringing was, she instead believes that it's totally appropriate to dress & behave like this. Yep, "loving their sons" can be just as bad as resenting them cause it comes from the same well...projecting an unresolved condition on the boy.

It's called "Romancing your son". Alot of single moms after years of getting ran through by dudes who don't give a fuck about them figure "Well if I can't get a good man to take me seriously i'll raise one!" so they instill all the properties in this kid that they THINK they would like in their mate after the fact. They start 'dating' their son figuratively, creating the perfect gentlemen. Problem is that it ill prepares him for the first wave of women ol boy is going to deal with- preteen/teenage girls- and in a lot of cases the stark contrast of the type of man his mom's STILL let's run through; which is what she really desires in a mate.

So, this boy goes out into the world with the mindset that he's supposed to be the perfect gentlemen like his momma said, gets his heart ripped out, and realizes that his mom did him a disservice in the only area she should have expertise: the true nature of women. He's been lied to.

Usually goes one of two ways after that paradigm shifting moment, the boy builds resentment towards his mother and takes it out on women or he tries to become his mother's ideal and ends up being the world's biggest doormat. I've seen both.
