I promised to keep the board updated: little bro is 9-0 and just signed a 4 fight deal with the UFC. He is replacing Anthony "Rumble" Johnson live on Versus March 21st

I don't know the rules for blatant self promotion or promotion of a relative but I just started managing my little brother and posted this vid today. Let me know what you think.

I'm guessing this is your brother?

http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Daniel-Roberts-23999

Is he the guy replacing Rumble against John Howard?

His takedowns look real nice, but he's gonna need to step that up in the wrestler heavy UFC WW division. Sub game is ok, I can tell he's primarily a wrestler cause dude was giving up all types of arms in the mount. His ground and pound is ASS. I'm sorry. Pure ASS. He needs to step that up. What he needs to do is get in with a good camp NOW. He's got potential.

This is a much better representation of his skills. I don't think he's UFC caliber and Doomsday will tap that ass in the jaw.

Edit: yeah and work on that stand up. And I didn't know this was an old thread.

I hate that mma shit but I could Watch Anderson Silva fight all day

that dude got some tricks

someone post the video Where he Went into the defensive shoulder roll

and caught the mothafucka comin in With an elboW uppercut:eek:

amazing:yes:

Highlight vid of Anderson made by ya BOY LD

Here's the fight in question with the elbow

Probably should have mentioned that I have not let anyone see MMA tape on him except the UFC matchmaker for the last two years. Those highlights are old as shit. I'm not gonna give everything away now but he trains with the best standup in the world and the worlds best grapplers. He's come a looooong way and he deserves his shot.

tell your brother to take up boxing..
better yet..
go to college and become a lawyer or doctor..

that mma shit isn't worth it..
I doubt these guys can get healt insurance.
so when they get hurt..
they coming out of pocket..
anderson silva pound for pound best figher in the world..
made..260,000 for is last fight.. WTF
is base pay for the fight was 140,000:smh::smh:
now think of all the people he has to pay out of that money..
trainers, sparring partner's , manager, taxes...etc..
the money just isn't there yet..
maybe if mark cuban gets is act together and starts is own league..
then there will be competition for the best fighers and the guys will start getting paid what they are worth..
but
right now..
it ain't worth it...

Maybe not for Americans but I'm sure its alot of doe to Anderson and other kats from Brazil. What else would that kat be doing that paid that much out there?

Na man.. he has a pretty good take down but his striking ability is garbage. seriously I first thing I thought when I saw the clip is oh wow good take down.. wtf.. why is he punching like a girl.?? I didn't see any leg strikes so its very possible that his leg game is wack to its good that he is getting started but please tell him not to get gassed HE DONT GOT THE JUICE NOW lol.... the white boy was a pushover.

Again, my fault for not being clear. I should have started a whole new thread. My point was to let the board know how far he's come since his first few fights when I posted that video way back when. I know I'm proud becuse we shared a bunkbed in the projects and growing up I always protected him. I can't expect this board to really care because he's not your family but I think progress is interesting even if you have no connection. I'm not gonna post anything new on him this close to fight time but as far as striking goes, he trains with this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-K6dvTmqZs

This is part of ya bro's last fight, standup looks a lil better, but he's still leaving his hands open.

I hope he's ready for Doomsday though I dunno Doomsday has fought some tought comp including Barncat who's deadly on the ground and won out. We'll see.

Called it perfectly.

Is your brother awake yet?

:lol::lol:

Doomsday KNOCKED HIM THE FUCK OUT.

Seriously, ya brother put on a good show for the first minute or so and then I thought Doomsday would back away and let him stand up.

Then he hit him with the BOOYAKA.

And then the BOOMSHAKALAKA.

I hope they didn't cut ya brother cause he did decently before the KO, he just wasn't ready for Doomsday.

cold blooded! but yeah... you did call it :dunno: son put that boy to sleep! :smh: he looked like it was lights out after the first punch in that gif

If no one told you before, BGOL is the coldest place on earth. Its winter here 365 days a year bro.

Props on keeping us updated. Hope he learned something from that "L" he took.

You guys are fuckin dickheads. Daniel Roberts is a tough guy and props to him for making it to the UFC. I'm sure he will get another fight and do well. To fight Doomsday in your first fight in the UFC isn't gona be easy. John "Doomsday" Howard has won 7 fights in a row, 4 of those 7 in the UFC. Props to Daniel Roberts.

word.

I always try and support brothers in the fight game so imma keep it real with you and at the same time give advice:

Very quick/explosive and strong. But once he goes up in competition that wont matter as much. His skills look very raw.He made a few mistakes that would definitely get exposed against better competition. For instance he shoots with his head down.Thats instant guillotine.Or even worse, an easy knee. His grappling needs ALOT of work.He crosses his ankles when he has the back(open to footlocks),stands on his foot in mount(easy escape), and he is unstable as hell when he takes the back. His chokes were very beginner too.he was doing some headlock from the back instead of choking properly. It all worked against the competition he was going against be as he moves up it wont.

Ive been in the fight game for years.I regularly train with known fighters such as Nick and Nate Diaz,Dave Terrell,Jake Shields,Uriah Faber, and Gilbert Melendez.Trained with over 50 other lesser known fighters. My school is well known and one of the best in the world.Ive seen some fighters make in and many that didn't.One common similarity of the guys that make it is that they all train at great schools. They regularly train with other good fighters and get the shit beat out of them in practice on the regular basis. Many of the guys from small schools are the best at their schools and never really improve. To be great you have to spar with professional boxers and grapple with black belts.Your brother reminds me of ALOT of guys that ive seen in the amateur circuit who dominate amateurs but fold when he goes up in competition. In his highlights alone, I can tell that he would lose to any legit Black belt in BJJ.

My advice:
1)Train at a legit school.I see it says he trains at Apollo's Gym in Tulsa. Is that the same guy from Choke? I looked at the website and it lists that he teaches Karate.Karate aint shit in MMA. He needs to train at a legit BJJ school.I dont know how far Oklahoma City is from Tulsa, but the Lovato's in OKC are good.Ive seen em in competition and one of em is one of the best American BJJ blackbelt ive seen.
2)Train at a pro boxing or Mui Thai gym.His striking needs work.
3) Have an open mind.He will be humbled so make sure he keeps his head up and willing to work on weaknesses. For example, he should get used to working from bottom even though he is more of a top fighter(due to his wrestling).

Sorry for the long response, but im real passionate about the fight game and love to see brothers succeed in it.

u in the MMA game fam?
what do u know about this cat?

Best wishes to LAWYER's brother Daniel. Props to Lawyer also for giving us the intel' and heads-up on Daniel 3 years ago back in April 2008!

Roberts has a brother who posts here? LOL whats his name? Roberts trains with our team in SF.I'll ask him when I roll with him.

Mad props to LAWYER and his younger brother Daniel!

He trains boxing and Mui Thai, but of course his background is wrestling. He is nice with his strikes but the lack of standup is more a product of my editing and the fact that he's only had a handful of fights so far most of which he won on the ground in under a minute.

Yeah I'm glad I tested it here, now I see I should show more of his standup. He is 5'10" and fights at 170lbs. His record is 4-0, fights in the EFL in the south/southwest mainly. Like I said, he is just getting started but I'm proud of him so far. I'm thinkin' back and I can only remember maybe 3 fights I've had in the last 15 years and they mainly consisted of trading a couple of blows. My bro is getting in the ring with someone who is trained and paid to kick his ass and he is undefeated so far.

Thanks for the comments and critiques. I will keep the board up to date on his status. Also watch for my man on Ultimate Fighter, Gerald Harris. I think he is the only brotha left so he should be easy to spot.

My brother, Daniel "Ninja" Roberts, will be fighting Canadian Claude Patrick at UFC 129 in Toronto on April 30th. He is currently 12-1 with 9 submissions finishes. His fight will probably stream live on Facebook so look out for him.

damn dudes ground game is crazy

Your brother is in for a tough fight. I'm hoping to fight at UFC in New Orleans

Good looks. He had amazing finishes in the UFC. I thought the last one would get him on the main card. This should get him on the main card if he beats Patrick. Tough fight ahead. Good Luck.

wish yo bro all the best
hopes he continues kickin ass

That Caesar Gracie Team is no joke.:D

Good luck to your bro. His arm bar submission is crazy.

nice kimura's @ 1:40 & @ 2:44

impressive subs...

Ceasar Gracie producing some really good fighters...

Dude is a beast!!!

best of luck to your bro, funny thing is me and Claude work together (trainers) at a gym. cant disclose too many details but its gonna be a war

Any chance he's going to wear the BGOL logo on his gear with the cartoon mascot from the t-shirt. i'll chip in for that...

I'm glad my brother didn't learn MMA. It was bad enough being held upside down whenever he felt like beating me down. Then one day he couldn't lift me and he wasn't brushing my punches off and dominating - we tore up half the basement but I felt I got his respect that day even though he finished me off brutally. Lol. Then made me clean up the mess... Lol. Made me tougher though.

Good shit, bro. I bumped Lawyer's 2 threads for you. Cool looking back at how he mentioned Daniel in April 2008, and then 2 weeks ago in April 2011 letting the BGOL fam' to check him out at tomorrow's 129 card in T-Dot. Good shit. Props to all the athletes on the card. It's gonna be fun!
