My Little Bro is gonna Have the MMA Fight Game On Lock

One trick pony.

He trains boxing and Mui Thai, but of course his background is wrestling. He is nice with his strikes but the lack of standup is more a product of my editing and the fact that he's only had a handful of fights so far most of which he won on the ground in under a minute.

Your brother looks good out there. The real test is how he comes back after he get's knocked out. And what kind of league is that where the cats don't tap out? They just let a mufucka choke a nigga out.

Tell him not to throw wide or this will happen.

Cool. You should show more of his skillset in the promo. Whats he fight at? Cant tell for sure but guessing from the video i would say 5'9 165.

 @ the referee just watching while the white dude was tapping out for a whole 20 seconds

he's a good fighter

Yeah I'm glad I tested it here, now I see I should show more of his standup. He is 5'10" and fights at 170lbs. His record is 4-0, fights in the EFL in the south/southwest mainly. Like I said, he is just getting started but I'm proud of him so far. I'm thinkin' back and I can only remember maybe 3 fights I've had in the last 15 years and they mainly consisted of trading a couple of blows. My bro is getting in the ring with someone who is trained and paid to kick his ass and he is undefeated so far.

Heh. I named this the Shakore dip after my bro - he always used to catch me with that shit - a couple step-in lazy uppercuts to the bread basket evened the score tho'.

Your boy is nice on the ground but that taking the punch and then going for the double leg is going to get him rocked - at 5'10" his approach is a little slow and telegraphed like a motherfucker. He's good but he needs to take a trip to Rio and fuck with the Gracies for six months.

That transition to the rear naked choke was smooth . I would keep an eye on those ref's they don't seem to be very watchful. Your bro looks good, like others have said let's see some of his stand-up. He has his ground and pound down (submissions). I would love to see him mix some elbows in there for some scoring in the event he ever goes to decision.

Damn, dude is nice with his. :D:yes::yes::yes: He looks like he may hit the majors in no time flat with those skills and that kind of power. I'm glad to see more brothas doing well in that MMA game.:dance::dance:

good looks, your brother was passing nicely, taking his opponent'sback, going for VISCIOUS chokes.

looked real good out there.

i retired 3-0 back in the 90's, i don't have the proper temperament for the whole game.

i respect those who do.

btw, did he kill that dude who got choked out?

SHIT.

:lol::lol::lol:Yeah, that ref was just standing there watching dude die.

thats whats up. he needs to be careful crossing his ankles like that when he has someone's back a simple figure 4 over his ankle and an arch in the hips and he can kiss that ankle goodbye for a few months...i would hate to see him on the sideline for months.

Thanks for the comments and critiques. I will keep the board up to date on his status. Also watch for my man on Ultimate Fighter, Gerald Harris. I think he is the only brotha left so he should be easy to spot.

Nice broad jump. Not to impressed by his stand up but he seems better than most them bums on Iron Ring. But he hasn't been tested yet. I looked him up and he may be 4-0 but his opponents have a combined record of 0-8.

agreed.. good start. keep it up

I always try and support brothers in the fight game so imma keep it real with you and at the same time give advice:

Very quick/explosive and strong. But once he goes up in competition that wont matter as much. His skills look very raw.He made a few mistakes that would definitely get exposed against better competition. For instance he shoots with his head down.Thats instant guillotine.Or even worse, an easy knee. His grappling needs ALOT of work.He crosses his ankles when he has the back(open to footlocks),stands on his foot in mount(easy escape), and he is unstable as hell when he takes the back. His chokes were very beginner too.he was doing some headlock from the back instead of choking properly. It all worked against the competition he was going against be as he moves up it wont.

Ive been in the fight game for years.I regularly train with known fighters such as Nick and Nate Diaz,Dave Terrell,Jake Shields,Uriah Faber, and Gilbert Melendez.Trained with over 50 other lesser known fighters. My school is well known and one of the best in the world.Ive seen some fighters make in and many that didn't.One common similarity of the guys that make it is that they all train at great schools. They regularly train with other good fighters and get the shit beat out of them in practice on the regular basis. Many of the guys from small schools are the best at their schools and never really improve. To be great you have to spar with professional boxers and grapple with black belts.Your brother reminds me of ALOT of guys that ive seen in the amateur circuit who dominate amateurs but fold when he goes up in competition. In his highlights alone, I can tell that he would lose to any legit Black belt in BJJ.

My advice:
1)Train at a legit school.I see it says he trains at Apollo's Gym in Tulsa. Is that the same guy from Choke? I looked at the website and it lists that he teaches Karate.Karate aint shit in MMA. He needs to train at a legit BJJ school.I dont know how far Oklahoma City is from Tulsa, but the Lovato's in OKC are good.Ive seen em in competition and one of em is one of the best American BJJ blackbelt ive seen.
2)Train at a pro boxing or Mui Thai gym.His striking needs work.
3) Have an open mind.He will be humbled so make sure he keeps his head up and willing to work on weaknesses. For example, he should get used to working from bottom even though he is more of a top fighter(due to his wrestling).

Sorry for the long response, but im real passionate about the fight game and love to see brothers succeed in it.

I wish him the best in his career. Where does he train?

Thanks. He trains at Apollo's Karate in Tusla with Mikey Burnette. Dale Apollo Cook is a world champion kickboxer and Burnette is a UFC vet and was on ultimate fighter 4. He trained at the Lion's Den with Frank Shamrock's crew.

My brother has rolled around with Frank and a few other UFC and IFL vets. He is just getting started but he is a smart fighter and I think he will continue to do well.

If you look around the 1:24 mark the guy who is about to be choked can simply apply what would look like a triangle choke on the guy's ankles since they are crossed and simply lift his hips while defending the choke . If applied correctly the person applying the rear naked choke will begin to feel pressure immediately on his ankle. If the guy who is being choked is able lift his hips high enough snap crackle pop a broken ankle. It happened to me before and it scared the shit out of me when i heard my ankle pop. Thank god mine didn't break and i became good friends with ice and motrin but I've heard some horror stories. You should try it and get an idea what the pain would feel like.

tell your brother to take up boxing..
better yet..
go to college and become a lawyer or doctor..

that mma shit isn't worth it..
I doubt these guys can get healt insurance.
so when they get hurt..
they coming out of pocket..
anderson silva pound for pound best figher in the world..
made..260,000 for is last fight.. WTF
is base pay for the fight was 140,000:smh::smh:
now think of all the people he has to pay out of that money..
trainers, sparring partner's , manager, taxes...etc..
the money just isn't there yet..
maybe if mark cuban gets is act together and starts is own league..
then there will be competition for the best fighers and the guys will start getting paid what they are worth..

I thought Mikey Burnett taught at Tulsa Lions Den? A few decent fighters came out of there.#1 being Matt Wiman of TUF fame.Your brother should train there.Matt Wiman is pretty good and they have a 145er named Beau Taylor that is pretty good too.

SpiderMan is 1000% on point!! As soon as I saw him shoot for the take down, I was screaming that he is going to either eat a knee to the face or get slap with a G choke!! You have to set up take down attempts with punches or a kick.

That being said, I give your brother major props for having the balls to step in the cage and fight. I am sure he will improve with time, just make sure he joins a top school so he can gain more fight knowledge. Against the skill set he is facing, he will do fine, but he needs alot of work before he can start going up against a pro.

Damn.

Leben is making nice coin.

Sanchez won season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Koscheck - lol @ you. You made fun of Leben throughout that first season, but that muthafucka's laughin' last, homie.
