Re: is anyone having an issue adding the content stuff to final cut?

so i downloaded all the final cut stuff.

burned them to disks.

but everytime i try to install i get installation failed.

i did a search on the web and there was suggestion to add all the main programs (i.e final cut, soundtrack, color, compressor, etc) first and then install the content.

i tried this and all of the programs installed fine but when i try to install the content i get the installation failed error.

just trying to figure out if it is just me.

if so...i will download the links again in case some kind of way they were corrupted during the extraction but it seems weird that the other stuff installs fine.

You dont need to burn them to disk. Here's what you do:
1. Mount every iso/dmg file (Final Cut, Audio Contents, DvD Studio, and Motion)
2. Install initially with Final Cut
3. Installation should run smoothly b/c all image files have been mounted (Apple created a trick for installations to fail as the program is being installed) so the trick is to mount all files before installing.

if any other help is needed, please refer as you did in this thread, peace!

'VidMaster,

• I installed Quick Books . . . and it's asking for a serial . . . There's no crack or work-around as far as I can tell, so it gives you '15' trial uses.

• I'm on 'Live' 6 and want to upgrade . . . the 'Authorize' doc returns "invalid on this computer" and the full path name for the workaround found in the .txt file '/Applications/Live\ 8.1\ OS\ X/Live.app/Contents/MacOS/' doesn't exist. The .../Contents/MacOS/ is nowhere to be found. Any thoughts?

Thx,

JG

my bad well i did everything you said all the copy and paste stuff in the terminal but once i got to the registration screen the serial aint work

1. Install as a trial first
2. Open up terminal and paste this:
sudo /Applications/TextEdit.app/Contents/MacOS/TextEdit /etc/hosts
3. Hit Enter & it should ask you to input your system password then it would bring you to a text file screen.
4. At the end of the text file hit enter for a new line, and input this:

127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 3dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-2.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 adobe-dns-3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 ereg.wip3.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sea.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 wwis-dubc1-vip60.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 activate-sjc0.adobe.com

5. Once you've completed the copy and paste, on the top left corner of the text file click on the red button as if your attempting to close the document & a pop up message will indicate if you would want to save, dont save or cancel, choose "SAVE".
6. Now open up anyone of the desired adobe programs you've installed and insert this serial #
1325-0958-5997-3696-7525-2029
7. Congratulations!!!!

:dance::dance::dance::dance:

as far as the final cut goes do i need to download each one u posted

No, you dont. You must download the primary installer though "Final Cut Pro 7". During the installation the program will ask you to select/deselect other contents you would want to install; It's totally up to you. Be mindful though, lets just say for instance you didn't download the audio content but during the installation process you did not deselect the audio content, the program will keep asking you to insert the audio content cd, which will end up having you to abort the installation. Know what your installing before the installation begins

Ok, here's the hack. I'd say 98% of people don't know this (Yup I'm making a judgment) BUT I'm about to explain the successful hack)

1. Install Quickbooks 2010
2. Open up "Apple Script Editor" by going into "Applications" & then "Utilities"
3. Double click on "Apple Script Editor"
4. When Apple Script Editor is open, on the top banner click "File" & "Open", then locate and choose the "Quickbooks 2010 Launch" file that came with your download.
5. A new script document should show up, now go back to top banner and click "File" & "Save as"
6. A Drop down menu should appear & check on "Run Only" and Rename the file to whatever you chose. Remember to save this file where you would most likely need it I.E. "Applications Folder"
7. Complete!!!! Now Double Click On That New File You have renamed and Abracadabra :dance:

I would suggest you open up that file anytime you would want to use Quickbooks 2010 from now on.

Now for Ableton 8..........

The file '/Applications/Live\ 8.1\ OS\ X/Live.app/Contents/MacOS/' DOES EXIST!!!!

1. Go to your applications folder and right click on the ableton live icon, and a submenu should appear. Click on "Show Package Contents", "Contents", "MacOS",
2. Now in this folder you should see a black/greyish icon named "Live", now refer to your downloaded folder and copy and paste that "Live" file from your downloaded folder into the "MacOS folder" and replace it.
3. Start Ableton, & when the program ask you about registering/activating the program drag the "Authorize81Mac.auz" file into the "register/activate window.
4. Complete!!!! Ableton should tell you now, your program is successfully activated
5. Install soundbanks

5. Install soundbanks

Worked like a charm. Thanks.

Question: I used the volume you uploaded, which had the disc img(dmg) inside already and seemed to be self contained. Are the soundbanks something additional, or are they apart of your volume? I ask because after installation, LIVE says that the library is "unavailable" or has been "removed". I'm assuming that the soundbanks ARE the library. . . :dunno: But it DID install as you said it would.

JG

thanks but sill not workng :(

i re-downloaded all of the iso/dmg just in case one was corrupt.

mounted all of them.

attempted the install.

same result. installation failed.

it seems like it is happening when it is trying to write the content files because the initial write worked fine....packages were validated....then when it went into the second write which i am guessing is the content stuff that is when i get the failure.

could it be because i am writing the content to another drive?

i had final cut installed before and had the content files written to my external drive and it wasn't an issue.

all of the actual program files are installed on my main internal drive.

this shit is crazy! I can't even keep up... to put the cherry on top of all of this.. does anyone have a megaupload crack to allow me to download without waiting?

That's b/c you already have a prior photoshop installation in there. It must be Photoshop CS4 trial that expired or something else i'm not aware of. Before installing any adobe product you would need to deactivate the prior serial before installing the new product/program. Here's what i've pulled from Adobe.

If you want to uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS4:

1. Deactivate the application--Go to Help > Deactivate. Please be sure to ERASE your serial number (click the check box for "Erase my serial number from this computer after deactivation completes").
2. Close all applications currently running on your system--including other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browser windows.
3. Do one of the following:
* In Windows XP, open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Add or Remove Programs. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Change/Remove, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
* In Windows Vista, open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Programs and Features. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Uninstall/Change, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
* In Mac OS DO NOT drag applications to the trash to uninstall them. To safely uninstall on Mac OS X, double-click the product installer in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers or double-click on the Uninstall alias located in the Application folder. Authenticate as an administrator, then select Remove Components and follow the on-screen instructions.

Important: In Mac OS there is a new uninstall functionality â“ please read uninstall instructions carefully before uninstalling.

I'm not sure what the problem is if this is NOT working successfully for you. If you mounted everything before the installation then the sequence of the installation process shouldn't interrupt NOT UNLESS the files are corrupted somehow; BUT in my case all of my uploaded files are 100% workable.

Brethren, download "Rar expander" to unrar this program http://download.cnet.com/RAR-Expander/3000-2072_4-55074.html. After you've completed that step, follow the Ableton installation instructions on the 4th page, and you should be in heaven.
