Music Debate: Lord Jamar talks white rappers & WHY Action Bronson is BAD for Ghostface's legacy

The only white dudes I fuck with in hiphop are the one's I rarely see or hear about(Rubin)...

Action's attitude of acting like him and ghost doesn't sound alike, the way they put shit together lyrically is just dumb on his part;he's also doing a bad job at trying to act like he's just about the art and his just doesn't give a fuck attitude.Shits corny.
He's fat and a chef...come on now

Lord Jamar spoke nothing but truth. Wasn't disrespectful.

On that note I can't stomach Action cause I think what he does is blasphemy in the hip hop culture. He sounds JUST like Ghost.

"I don't want niggas sounding like me on none of my clan members" - Ghost

fuck lord jamar. he was never, ever that nigga. he was shittiest nigga in brand nubian. he was the u-god of the group.

li'l my mans,

How old are you?

Do your HIP-HOP history! LORD JAMAR was on 3 CLASSIC ALBUMS.

2006
THE 5% ALBUM
-LORD JAMAR

1993
IN GODS WE TRUST
-BRAND NUBIAN (WITHOUT GRAND PUBA)

1990
ALL FOR ONE
-BRAND NUBIAN

I strongly disagree with your comparison of Jamar to U-GOD. The 3 albums mentioned above are better than 99% of the bullshit that came out in the last 10 years or so masquerading as HIP-HOP!

How long have you been listening to HIP-HOP? Were you listening back in 1990, 1993 and 2006?

Completely not understanding the hate about what Lord Jamar is saying. His comments have NOTHING to do with his own personal skill, nor is what he's saying disrespectful to white rappers and worthy of fisticuffs. Lord Jamar just had 11 minutes of real talk. On top of that, he never dissed white rappers.

On this thing about Bronson...yeah, he's a fantastic soundalike. He stays in his lane, doesn't make a ton of noise about whatever. It's all good. Mad respectful and shows mad love for Ghost. Never claims to be the greatest of all time (like the accolades showered upon Em) - which I've always hated.

Not going to start a long conversation about our own culpability on the current state of hip-hop. Just saying that regardless of Jamar's capability on Brand Nubian, the dude is speaking real talk which is based on his opinion and is opening the debate for people to discuss in a sensible way. Even his views on the gay agenda and societal 'evolution' are sound and worthy of extended discussion.

Frankly, I'm actually ANGRIER at the fact that white boys like Vlad have not only infiltrated hip hop, but now they're THE mouthpieces that get to interview and curate who's who and what's what? Shit is infuriating.

Well ladies and gentlemen ..With that we can all go home. ..^^ 1hunned

Y'all better take heed to what Jamar is saying.

Niggas don't own or control shit in rap yet we're allowing white rappers to come in and dictate agendas i.e. Macklemore.

Eminem sucks now but he's still super popular.

Rappers can and will be majority white in 20 years if we aren't careful.

I can't believe niggas are cosigning Action Bronson.:smh::smh:

This nigga has blatantly stole Ghost's whole style and flow. This shit would be blasphemy even if Action were black but y'all gonna let a white mothafucka get away with this shit?

I don't give a fuck how tight he is. I don't give a fuck where he from. I dont give a fuck how his voice sounds. I dont give a fuck if Ghostface and his MOMMA say he nice.:hmm:

As hip hop heads y'all nigaas shouldn't fuck with dude. THIS is how hip hop becomes rock n roll. This is some old Elvis Presley type shit and y'all just gonna let it ride. Fuck wrong with niggas nowadays??:smh::smh:

If a nigga came out sounding exactly like Frank Sinatra you think Cacs would fuck with him?? Hell naw. Not the true Frank fans anyway. Niggas will just watch our culture being stripped away from us and won't do shit about it.:angry:

^^^

I hear you but the Sinatra example is not a good one.

Henry Connick and bunch of other young dudes jacked Frank's whole style not just singing but swagger. And made millions and it was considered a 'tribute'.

In Action's case when I first heard him I thought he was Black and that he was biting Ghost's whole style.

It SEEMS he has acknowledged Ghost's influence and shown proper homage.

I don't like it but he CAN rhyme and hasn't disgraced Ghost's flow...and it also SEEMS Ghost is cool with it.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

And recently Action's style has really matured into something more his own but the Ghost influence is there.

We could say the same about almost ALL rappers though...

how many rappers bit Rakim, Kane, Nas, Jay, Redman, Masta Ace, ODB, Biggie, Mase Cam, Cube and Pac (the most imitated rapper of ALL TIME)?

I am not throwing the cape over his shoulder's but we gotta see the whole picture...and I agree with Jamar mostly.

Ghost ain't feelinin that shit at the same time to stay relevant he has to cosign that bullshit. Sorta like cat being on the reality show its hard to turn them chips down. The older generation is basically strong armed get down wit this bullshit or we label you a dinosaur and extinct ya ass. If Ghost runs up on Action and slapped the shit out him like he woulda back in 95 he'd catch a charge. We witnessing the culture jack men like Jamar rumblin sayin naw y'all can't have it while everybody else screamin here take it just give me a check.

Those dudes that jacked Frank's style were white though. So its a perfect example.:hmm:

And there is a big difference between being influenced by someone and straight biting their style. Its a fine line and your man Bronson crossed it. The old Ghostface would have smacked that fool on site. Now we got niggas cosigning this dude.:smh::smh:

i understand your point but let me tell you Italians were NOT cool with it at all...

Again it seems that Ghost is cool with it...I can't be mad FOR that man...if he aint got no problem then I guess its OK.

But jacking styles white or black in hip hop was never cool...unless you acknowledged the originator.

This is like when Lupe Fiasco said he's never been a fan of Tribe's music. Lupe was influenced by Kanye who was influenced by Consequence who did an album with Tribe. Kids look at Kanye as the visionary and don't even know there was even A Tribe Called Quest.

whose fault is that??

well Golf is a WHite sport- get Tiger Woods the fuck out of it.

Matter of fact, SO IS BASKETBALL. Get all the Black folks the fuck out of it

Track and field too. Can't let Black folks get NEAR the olympics- just White people- that goes for Asians, Arabs, everybody the fuck else.

Also Boxing- get out Black folks, it's a white sport

Lord Jamar shut your ignorant ass the fuck up

That Russian dude is playing you and your dumb shit for views while you look deaf dumb and blind

Your missing the picture, some of you just like to argue and debate. He's not saying you can't be in it if your another skin color. He's saying (using your analogy) If I play basketball for the NBA, they won't let me taunt people like I do in my hood. That's a technical foul. But on the otherhand Rap one of the elements of hip hop culture is sold and paid for to whites. They make the rules now.

I respect some of what lord jamar said, but at the same time...im not gonna not fuck with a rapper or act like he aint nice just cuz he's white. to me, Bronson is dope. true, i can hear the Ghost influence...but there's joints of Kendrick I thought sounded like Andree 3000 and joints of Jay Elec I thought was MF Doom.

There's a bigger problem in rap than white rappers or rappers who support gay marriage.

You're missing the forest for the trees when you harp on those two topics.

Pushing the 'gay agenda' doesn't help or hurt anyone who isn't gay.
White rappers being more prevalent doesn't help or hurt anyone but other rappers.

If the industry was suddenly packed full of macklemores and it pushed out chief keef type guys- would you be upset about that?

They make the rules now? Really? Music label execs finally became white?

it's a strange argument to make...that whites are good enough to be the main consumers of the art but not good enough to contribute to it. the real issue is that we gave up control of our art to get paid. if rappers are concerned about the preservation of the culture, stop signing with these labels that exist to exploit it. but then... rappers couldnt "ball" like they do without that white consumer base.

this is fair.

But he was there during a lot of long time hip hop fans formative years....

And Brand Nubian had a real big influence because it was still during that creative Afrocentric yet gangsta phase of the culture. And he repped the 5% heavy...

And their album was such a classic and many thought when Puba left that they would fall off...but then Punks jump up was released and POW!!!

so he is like that cool Uncle you only see at the cookouts...you don't realize associate with him but respect his position.

and he made some really good records too.

But obviously he isnt hip hop ROYALTY but dammit he is a certified VET in the game and gets respected just off that.
