I feel like we haven't recognized his death enough
He had a damn magnetic personality the ad libs the voice the handshakes the dance he was MORE than a hype man
RIP
My boys... For those who don't know... They come from Lamar Odom's hood... I known these dudes since I was 13... And please understand... It was way more of them than just those 4 dudes... Lost Boys started as a crew of around 8 or 9 dudes then the younger guys took and made it a gang. I got a lot of history with Mr. Cheeks and his cousin, Jay Raff... And my boy, Ralou aka Pretty Lou. Rest in Paradise, Freaky Tah.
Original Lost Boyz member since ‘86. The original crew you are talking about are the top 10 LB’z. When we say 1,000 ghettos deep it’s truly what it means. It started on the Lincoln Park side but truly took shape when Tah moved to Guy BrewerMy boys... For those who don't know... They come from Lamar Odom's hood... I known these dudes since I was 13... Tah was the glue that held the family together. His energy was something different. He had a plan to put all the other talented members of the fam out so the world could know that it was more than just them 4 that had talent. LB could’ve been similar to the Wu as far as having mad artists come outta one camp. He’s missed by all of us. Kept us on a path to greatness. As far as Cheeks, got nothing but love for him but he made a lot of bad decisions and it stifled his careersadly hip hop is filled with way too many deaths and tragedies
but for me Freaky Tah murder is something that was especially significant
His membership of the group to me was so damn unique and as much as Flav birthed the modern hype man?
Freaky birthed a different dynamic
He danced and rapped and brought such a singular energy and dynamic to that group that without him?
It just was DIFFERENT.
and they are kinda FORGOTTEN... but they had a MASSIVE STRING of hits in a VERY relative short span.
And I feel like Mr. Cheeks if he different management and emotionally given time to properly grieve his damn near twin
Should have been a GREAT solo artist.
I think he would have been PERFECT on Bad Boy with Puff

The LB slide. U told not one lie. We would be in parties 300 deep all doing that dance. Not to trivialize at all...but to me?
that dance?
It was something SPECIAL.
And I KNOW it was because for SOME reason it just CONNECTED
EVERYONE wanted to do it, not like a fad though it was just something about seeing those two brothers connect like that it was like some type of black people love something that just hit Black folk in they soul
I CANNOT explain it, it may seem like I'm over hyping it?
But go DO that dance at the BET awards and the ROOF would collapse.
Those dudes were SPECIAL
I could write a 100 words just on that Ad lib style Cheeks and Tah had the thunder and the rain?
You KNOW how many have TRIED to BITE that style?
hard but intelligent street but had heart and soul and fun it was a CRAZY combo.
and listen Cheeks was a REAL MC
his storytelling and rapping and voice and style?
I CANNOT believe what bad decisions could derail THAT.
NO DOUBT! I know Slugga... CeeLowe... Green Eyes... I.G.(RIP)...Snoop(RIP) Shack.. Van Dam(R.I.P)Tah definitely moved the crowd though. He got all the younger homies on board with the LB movement. SIDEBAR: The funny thing is... In Queens back then... You had dudes that were down with major crews that were INFAMOUS for knowing martial Arts. Lost Boys had Van Dam. Queensbridge had a dude named Karate Joe or something like that... AND Lefrak had my boy, Killa Kai aka Karate Kai.
I knew Van Dam and Kai but I only heard of Karate from QB through the grapevine but they were all known for kicking a nigga head off or some crazy shit like that.
Fixed. Also in verse two it’s pits and bats not picture matsVerse Three:
Keep the shit live for the year Nine Five
I got more niggas in my tribe
Than theres beez in the bee hive
LB Fam everyday stay high

Concentrate to get my shit straight, make us wait
Before it's too fuckin' late
The Lost Boyz, yeah that's who I be'z wit

Pack your bags, head outta town

From Jamaica comes a nigga named Cheeks
With techniques for the streets
Over rough neck beats
There’s rumors going around about the Cheeks can't remain raw

Cheeks only drank it cause we didThat devils springs is no joke
It was cheeks made made heads try that

Cheeks only drank it cause we did
we used to drink it straight then when we did the sprite commercial we mixed it with that
Appreciate that cuzzoWhat made this particular Spite commercial extra-special
and they were all dope
Was the throwback vibe to the originators
And how LB was able to easily flow on that track showing how it's ALL connected new to the old
And they BOTH rapped and they were ALL shown and involved with the ad.
Shout out to Flash
RIP Freaky
Today isn’t a good day for me either*deep breath*
